Chapter 13

Olivia.

I had been in my room when Jacob knocked on the door and walked in.

He said he had something important to discuss with me and asked me to meet him downstairs. I nodded and got ready and went down the stairs.

He was waiting by the door with a smile on his face that I still did not trust. He had explained things to me. He explained that when they saved my life, I had become their mate.

I did not know what that meant but I was starting to understand why all the staff in the mansion respected me. They all attended to all my needs.

My Wolf, Eva, was still healing, but I was starting to get worried. I knew the injury I had sustained hurt her a lot, but I needed her to wake up as soon as possible. She was my closest friend and I had gone too long without shifting.

I stopped thinking about that and looked at Jacob. He had slowly become a friend and answered all my questions patiently.

But I still had it at the back of my mind that I needed to escape. I did not need them to make me feel comfortable, I had had too many bad experiences with leaders of packs and I knew that no matter how they pretended, they were all the same.

I needed them to trust me enough to let me go out of the gates myself, so I could find my way through the forest. I heard that my own childhood pack had been rebuilt. Maybe if I made my way there, I would meet one of my relatives there.

I smiled at the thought that I would soon escape. I felt no connection to any of the Alphas as Eva was still healing. If I was really their mate, it would be best to leave before she healed and established a link with them.

Jacob opened the door for me and I mumbled a thank you to him.

From what I heard about Alpha Jacob, the fearless Alpha. His pack was one of the most peaceful packs because of how busy he was making sure that his pack was peaceful. I had no idea how he made out time to be with me.

Just as we were walking to the garden. The huge gates opened and a car came into the compound. As soon as the car parked, Alpha Damon walked out of the car and started walking towards us.

Once he got here, he looked at Jacob and nodded, barely acknowledging his existence before facing me.

“I need you to come with me,” he said.

My mind went into overdrive, what did he mean?

Jacob looked confused and his face turned annoyed.

"What do you mean she should come with you? We are having a conversation, and I don't appreciate you interrupting." Damon looked like Jacob's face also turned green with annoyance. "I was not talking to you. She can make her own decisions and choices; you do not own her."

His face in anger, Jacob said, "I am not trying to control her. I am only asking where you want to take her. She is not yours either."

I was confused and did not understand what was going on.

Where did Damon want to take me? Why did Jacob appear so angry? Was I in trouble? Was I in danger? Did Damon intend to hurt me?

"Where I am taking her is none of your business. She has been in this place for a long time, and she needs to go someplace else. She does not belong to you."

I looked at them standing face to face with each other. They were already getting very angry and looked like they could start fighting at any moment. I could see their eye colors already starting to change. It was the first stage of shifting into a wolf.

The matter escalated very quickly, and I did not want it to go past this point. If they changed to their wolf forms and I could not change to mine to protect myself, I might get hurt. From what I had seen from the rogue master, whenever he changed to his wolf, he ended up killing people who did not deserve it.

So I put my hand on Damon's shoulder. "I will go with you," I said, even though I had no idea where he wanted to take me.

When Jacob heard my words, he backed down and stormed into his mansion in anger.

I was also annoyed that he came to take me without telling me where we were going, but I knew I could not show it because I had no idea where he was taking me or what he wanted to do. He might not be too nice if I challenged him.

He led me to his car and opened the door for me and the driver slowly drove out of the compound.

This was the first time I had been outside of Jacob's mansion, and for the first time, I was seeing the pack. It was beautiful but I did not see much because the mansion was close to the border of the pack.

We drove through BloodMoon Pack and crossed the border into Moonshadow. I could see how majestic both packs were.

The rogue pack had been nothing like this. The people in the pack suffered, and most of them were made to serve the master and his council of elders.

There was suffering and hunger, and people did terrible things just to survive. The master of the rogue pack had made it intentional.

He kept people weak because he did not want them strong enough to fight against him. If they were well fed, they would all change into their wolf forms and fight against his leadership.

He only kept his soldiers fed so they could fight against other packs and invade them to take more slaves and provisions for his own elders.

As we crossed into Moonshadow I could see how people were working freely in their human forms and their wolf forms. It was strange to me because, for as long as I could remember, this was not allowed or even possible.

I could see luxurious stores and restaurants, and people walked on the streets with smiles on their faces.

Damon looked at me as I stood out of the window, but he did not say a word. I was busy staring in amazement at the sights I was seeing. The car stopped, and I looked around to see that we had stopped in front of a huge mall.
