Amaka's POV.
"Ah!" I moaned as Joseph thrust into me. This was my eighteenth birthday. I had just graduated from college, and Joseph was my boyfriend. He wouldn't let me be, begging me and pressuring me to have sex. I had told him that I wanted to wait until after our marriage, but Joseph refused. He claimed that I didn't love him enough, and that was why I didn't want to sleep with him. I agreed, and here I was, in a hotel room with him. I was typically a shy blonde girl with very fair skin, while Joseph was the opposite. He had dark skin, was taller than me, and was very handsome. He had full black hair, and I loved him very much. Joseph Ericson came from a very wealthy family in Palazo town, where we lived, while my parents were average workers, so we were considered less well-off than his family. Joseph promised to marry me. He was 21 years old and a business student at university, while I was still preparing to gain admission and join him there. I had lied to my mother, saying I was going to see a friend, just so I could prepare for my admission exam into university. I snuck into this hotel to see Joseph, and here we were. "Um! Ah ha!" I moaned as Joseph drove into me faster, whispering in my ear, "Yes, babe. You are so sweet." He released himself inside me. "Joseph, it hurts," I cried as he kissed me warmly and sat beside me on the hotel bed. "I'm sorry, my love. I will forever cherish this," he said, cupping my pretty face and kissing my forehead. "I can't seem to get enough of you. I wish we could get married, and I wouldn’t have to leave you," he added. I wiped my tear-filled eyes and looked at his handsome face as we lay on the hotel bed. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him, and he sighed. "Look, Amaka, I want you to know that I love you very much. But my family and I are moving to the city next week. You know my father owns a big company there. He informed my siblings and me that he acquired a new mansion, which means I would be living with them, and we might not get to see each other again." My eyes welled up with tears as I heard Joseph say that to me. "But you will still call me on the phone, right?" I asked, trying to believe that Joseph wouldn't go to the city and fall in love with another woman there. I loved him very much; he was like the air I breathed. My heart and soul wanted him. "I promise I won't forget you. Anytime I'm on vacation, I will come by to see you. Instead, I will lodge in a hotel, okay? You are my wife, so stop crying." Joseph wiped my tears away and drew closer to me on the bed, kissing my lips again. I was crying and not in the mood to kiss him. "Why not take me home with you? Tell your parents that I am your girlfriend and that you wish to marry me. You have been hiding me all this time and not wanting to introduce me to your mother," I told him. Whenever I asked Joseph to take me home to see his family, he would refuse. None of his siblings knew we were dating, and I felt so awkward chatting with his younger brother online, introducing myself as Joseph's girlfriend. *My elder brother is not in any relationship,* Aaron would say. Joseph practically kept me hidden, and I didn't know how long he planned to continue doing that. "No, Amy. I promise you, when the time is right, I will take you home and introduce you to my family. If I do that now, my parents will get annoyed and give my inheritance to my younger brother. I have to first get established, and after that, I promise we will get married," he said, wiping my sobs away. I wished I could believe him, but I had a lingering feeling that Joseph might be lying to me. Was he lying to me? Did he have another woman in his life? My heart felt heavy knowing I had just lost my virginity to him before I could think about all these things. Joseph kissed me again and thrust into me before my mind registered the questions I wanted to ask. I groaned in pain with each deep thrust, and he took me to cloud nine with him... ***Four years later.
"Mom, when are you taking me to school?" my three-year-old son asked. He was so smart and intelligent compared to me. "Jason, you are still a baby and not ready to go to school now," I told him as I prepared for my new job interview. "That's a lie, Mom!" he shouted. I sighed and rolled my eyes as I stood by the vanity mirror, combing my long blonde hair and applying my orange perfume. "Jason, why would Mommy lie to you? Have you ever seen a baby going to school? You have to stay at home with my friend," I explained, and he frowned. "Mommy..." Jason began to cry hard just as my best friend, Maureen Austin, came into the room. "What's going on here, Amaka? What did you do to my small husband?" she asked, scooping Jason up into her arms. After I got pregnant, my parents chased me away and refused to support my education. I tried calling Joseph to tell him I was pregnant, but guess what? He blocked my number and told me to get rid of it, saying he wasn't ready to father a child. I couldn't do that. I had to beg my friend for help. She was a tailor and into blogging, and she pleaded with her mother, who was a single parent, and her mother allowed me to live with them. Later, I started creating blogs too, as Maureen suggested I could do it as a part-time job from home. With that, my page gained millions of followers after I created a baby page for my son and uploaded adorable photos of him. Many fans loved Jason. He was fair like me, but while I had blonde hair, he had light brown hair.Amaka's POV:"Maureen, you know that I cannot put Jason in school right now. He is only a baby, and I don't want to force books into his head," I said, looking back at my friend and her small husband in her arms."Don't worry, I will put you in school, okay? My aunt owns a small children's school here. So I will take you there now," Maureen said to Jason, and he smiled sweetly at her."Thanks, Aunt," he replied."You're welcome, sweetie," she said to him and asked him to wait while she prepared his bath and dressed him for his new school."Maureen, you cannot be so serious. Jason is my son, and I get to decide for him," I told her. While her mother had another room, Maureen and I shared her room. Although I could move out and get an apartment of my own, I didn't want to be selfish.I was able to attend part-time business training classes with Maureen's mother's help. She looked after Jason for me until he was able to walk. My family didn't want anything to do with me. Well, maybe now
Amaka's POV;Once I finished having my breakfast in the kitchen, I stepped out of the house and made my way outside the compound. The house was a rented apartment, not one that Mrs. Ann owned.Luckily, as I got outside and onto the busy road, I saw a bus and got in. I sat beside a man in a black suit, and he smiled at me.I was too preoccupied to smile back. After what Joseph had done to me, I limited my smiles to anyone who was male. It was painful to think that Joseph would break up with me. He should have told me that he wanted only sex and not that he intended to marry me.I was a very decent girl in my area, which was why I became a laughingstock among my peers who hadn't expected a good girl like me to become pregnant.I wiped my tears away and kept my gaze focused on the road. The man beside me spoke, "Hi there. I have paid your fare.""Huh!" I looked taken aback that a total stranger would help me clear my bill. As I looked at this man's face, I gulped. Amaka's POV:"Sorry, sir. I was mistaken. I thought you were someone I knew before," I said, as his blue eyes held mine."It's fine. Come on in for your interview. Why do you want to work here with us?" he asked, clicking on his computer as if he were going through my credentials.I was affected seeing him, but the fact that he acted like he didn't know me or recognize who I was made me tremble."Hello?" He raised an eyebrow and looked at me."Right. I am a digital marketing student, and I graduated with distinction. I believe I can help your company market its products and services online," I said, lowering my gaze as I tried not to look at his face.He had changed; he looked more masculine and handsome. My son resembled him, only that Jason was fair like me."I see," he replied, clicking his mouse."We only employ staff who are committed to their jobs and don't breach our company agreement. Amaka's POV.I continued with the rest of the day working and felt Simon's gaze on me frequently. Why was he always looking at me? I pondered but didn't ask him.My phone rang, and I unlocked it to see that Maureen was the one calling me. She must have taken Jason to school, but I didn't want to chat with her about Jason here.Feeling Simon's scrutinizing gaze on me and the fact that Joseph was in his office monitoring me made me uncomfortable."Hello, dear, I will call you back later," I told Maureen, and she replied, "Okay."I glanced at Simon, and he frowned and looked away. I didn't understand the reason for his frown, but then I heard the buzzer sound."It's break time," Simon informed me, and I sighed. "Okay."I turned off my laptop and stood up from my chair. "I think we’re going to the cafeteria, right?" I asked Simon as he rose from his chair."Yes. Or you can request your meal here," he smiled, and I smiled back. "Fine. I'm still new, so I will go to the cafeteria."I exited
