**Nina's POV**

"Hello, Mom," I said, walking up to the dining table to sit on one of the white chairs there.

"Nina, how are you doing tonight? Has Joseph returned home from the office?" Mom asked, and I sighed heavily.

"Yes, Mom. He is back, and we are preparing to have our dinner now," I replied, and she asked me, "How did he react upon seeing you?"

I took a deep breath as I didn't want to reveal to my mother that Joseph Ericson didn't look happy to see me. Instead, I lied to her, "He was surprised, Mom, but at the same time, happy."

As I said that, Tope stepped out of the kitchen and looked at me in shock. She witnessed Joseph's reaction, and she knew that I was lying to my mother, but she didn't say a word. Instead, she walked up to the dining table to serve the dinner silently.

"Okay, that's nice. I will call you back tomorrow as I want to have dinner with your father now, and I don't want to keep him waiting. You should be a good girl to Joseph. Is he there with you? Let me say he

**Joseph's POV**After my dinner ended, Tope stepped out of the kitchen and cleared the dining table while Nina and I went to the top-floor sitting room."So, Nina?" I called her name, and she looked at me."Yes, Joe," she replied in a sultry tone, and I took a deep breath."Let's sit down and discuss. I want to talk to you about our marriage and your staying here," I told her as I settled into a chair behind me while she did the same.Nina appeared nervous as she sat across from me. I had milk-colored couches scattered around my sitting room on this second floor, similar to the black couches in my living room."So, I want to make you understand your staying here." I began, "Honestly, I appreciate the fact that you came here to bond with me, but I don't want us sleeping together in the same bed until we are married. I am a man, and I could get tempted and touch you before our marriage, which wouldn't be right. So I want us to use separate rooms."Nina's face fell, and she said, "I don'

Amaka's POV,I arrived home late in the evening due to traffic. My son was already fast asleep when I came into the room and saw him sleeping on the bed.I didn't see Maureen's mother in the living room, so Maureen and I went to her room for me to unwind and take a bath."Welcome, Amaka. How was work today?" Maureen asked me as I changed out of the corporate wear I had worn to the office. My mind was in turmoil. How do I even begin to explain to Maureen everything that had happened today?"Amaka?" Maureen called my name again, jolting me out of my reverie."Yes? What did you say?" I asked her as she stood there dressed in a green nightgown. She sighed and walked up to meet me."Where was your mind? I was asking you a question just now, and you seemed lost. What were you thinking about?" Maureen inquired, and I sighed deeply again."Maureen, you won't believe what I saw today. I am so confused," I told her, walking over to a chair in the room to sit down. The room had two black chairs,

**Amaka's Point of View**As I stepped into the living room, I made my way to the dining table to join Maureen, her mother, and my son for dinner."Mom, help me climb the chair," Jason said, as he was unable to climb onto the dining chair on his own. As I helped him sit down, I took a seat beside him, lost in deep thoughts about what had happened earlier and Mrs. Ann advising me to arrest Joseph.I didn't want to arrest Joseph; at least let me confront him first and find out if he's the father of my baby or not."Amaka, what are you thinking about?" Mrs. Ann asked me just as I was lost in my ocean of wild thoughts."Nothing, Ma. Let me go help Maureen in the kitchen," I replied, rising from the chair beside my son. I made my way to the kitchen to assist Maureen in serving our dinner. In the kitchen, Maureen had finished serving all the meals in different soup bowls and had prepared fufu for us to swallow."Amaka," she began, turning to look at me just after she closed the soup pot. "I

**Amaka's POV**The following morning, Maureen's fiancé arrived early to pick her up, and we assisted her in carrying some of her boxes.Maureen wore a green dress before heading off to take her bath. When she stepped out of the bathroom, she was dressed in a yellow top and a black skirt. She had a born-again look that made it difficult for anyone to know she had been raised by a single mother."Thank you, Amaka," Maureen said to me once she finished applying a simple makeup of white powder and lipstick."I am going to miss you," she said as she hugged me once more. I smiled and replied, "I’m only a phone call away. Don’t worry; I’ll come over to see you today after I close from work." Chris arrived at 6:30 AM to pick her up in his car."Okay," Maureen said, turning to look at Jason as he walked into the room. He wore a white singlet, blue boxers, and black slippers. He looked at us in confusion, wondering where Maureen was going since she was supposed to prepare him for school."I am

Amaka's POV:As I left the house, I hurriedly made my way to the bus stop further down the street. We lived in an estate, so I had to walk to the gate because I didn't have a car yet.Although Maureen's mother has a small car, since she was taking Jason to school, I didn't want to inconvenience her."Hello, good morning," a black car pulled up beside me. I peered inside and saw a man in a black suit sitting there. He greeted me, "Hi, I see you're in a hurry. Where are you rushing to?""Um, never mind. I have someone to pick me up," I said to the man in the car. He smiled and replied, "Alright. Do you live around here? I've seen you around and would like to get to know you better. I live down this estate road too." He said, and I frowned."Alright. But I'm in a hurry right now. Maybe some other time," I said, wanting to shoo him away. I couldn't believe a man would be chasing after me this early in the day when many passersby were rushing to their workplaces."Alright. Please, miss, he

Joseph's POV:Early in the morning at my house, I awoke in my bed and prepared to leave for the office since Nina and I had slept in different rooms. Nina slept in the guest room downstairs while I slept alone in my room. After getting out of bed, I went to take a shower in my bathroom. As I stood under the shower, I recalled returning home the previous night and seeing Nina in my house. I was not happy that Nina had come to live with me, but I couldn't protest her staying here. It was high time I got married. After finishing my shower, I walked out of the bathroom, went to my closet, and dried off. Next, I donned a black suit and prepared to leave for the office. Even the work project I had brought home the previous night to work on remained untouched, so I planned to tackle it at the office. I didn’t feel like staying in this house. After that, I grabbed my briefcase just as I finished putting on my black shoes, then I set out to leave my house, picking up my car keys from w

Joseph's POV: As I entered my office, I tried not to think too much about Amaka and whether I should inform Nina and my mother that I wasn't ready to get married yet. But who was I fooling? I moved over to my office chair to sit down while Nina gasped as she entered my workspace. "Wow! You have a very beautiful office, babe. I love the white paint, the style of your office, and how spacious it is," Nina said excitedly as she moved around my office. I managed to reply, "Thank you." I sat in my office chair and looked through the glass that revealed Simon's office. "Wow! So you can even see the next staff office here on the top floor? It's so lovely," Nina said as she moved over to the glass to look at Simon's office. Just then, Simon and Amaka entered the office, and I watched in jealousy as Simon moved over to Amaka's desk to speak with her. One thing I couldn't hear whatever they were discussing, but I could see them clearly. "What office is that?" Nina asked me as she

    ### Amaka's POVAs I sat in my chair, Simon came and informed me not to think too much about Joseph's fiancée. He tried to engage me in conversation, telling me how Joseph was one of the coolest bosses he had ever worked with."I’m telling you, Amaka, you shouldn’t worry about our boss. At first, I thought he might be smitten by you, but seeing his fiancée today gives me the go-ahead to chase after you," Simon smiled as he sat down."Really? But I am not interested in men. I just want to work, have money, and care for myself. Men are liars, pretenders, and cheats," I replied, looking at Simon's handsome face as he sat there. He gasped, “Wow! Seems like you’ve been in a failed relationship before?”"Not just failed, but the worst of it," I said, looking away from him to my computer as I tried to upload the details of the new product I was trying to advertise online. There was silence in the office, and after a while, Simon said, “I have also been in a failed relationship. Joseph's POVParking my car in the garage, I came out and went into the house, and Lady Tope Hilary came out of the house, surprised, and asked me, "Sir, didn't you go to work today?"I looked at her, seeing that she was dressed up, and I wondered where she was going too. Most times, I went to work and did not return until the evening when I had closed from work."I went to the office, but I am back. Where are you off to?" I asked her, and she smiled, replying, "I am going for grocery shopping and to also see my son at school.""Alright, be back on time," I told Lady Tope and moved ahead into the house. Going inside, I went to have my bath and to chill out, thinking about how to win Amaka's heart back.Amaka was wrong, and I didn't only consider apologizing to her now because of my father's threat. No, I am far more than that; only it wouldn't be nice if the rumors got to public knowledge that I lost my father's support. Many people in this area and this city as a whole respected my f

Joseph's POVI couldn't believe that Amaka's aunt would threaten to call the police on me. She told me that Amaka was sent away by her parents because I got her pregnant and refused to take responsibility for it."What am I going to do now?" I asked myself as I drove ahead to my company. My head was messed up, and with my father's threat, I knew that I had to come up with something to make Amaka forgive me, but who do I speak to that could help me talk to her on my behalf?Well, even if it was not that my parents had insisted that I try to make up with Amaka and bring my son back home to them, I knew that I was affected by seeing Amaka again. I truly did miss her, but I was not brave enough to say it to her face.I made a turn and drove ahead to Ethan's office. I needed to see him as he was the only person that I hoped would help me win Amaka back, irrespective of the fact that he was also chasing after her.I arrived at Ethan's company, E. and G. Global. It was a big establishment, s

**Amaka's POV** "I already told you that I do not know why Joseph was here," I said to Ethan, not wanting to tell him that Joseph wanted to request a DNA test to know if my son was truly his."That's fine. I will be leaving now for work. Take care," Ethan said before he moved back to his car and got in. I watched him start his car engine and drive off. Sighing, I went back into the house, thinking about how I should handle Joseph's situation.I went to have my bath, and after coming out, I dressed in a black shirt and a white top. I combed my long blonde hair while standing in front of the mirror, then I applied a little touch of makeup on my face.I could recall Joseph's words to Aunt Ann: "I want to marry Amaka now.""Hahaha!" I laughed out loud while looking at my reflection in the mirror."What makes Joseph think that I would want to marry him?" I asked myself, smiling at my reflection as I finished fixing my hair. I grabbed my trusty black handbag, slipped my phone into the zip,

**Amaka's POV**The next morning, I woke up in bed and prepared Jason for school. It was Tuesday, and the weather seemed like it was going to rain. As we were nearing the end of October, I made a mental note to get a school cardigan for my son. After dressing Jason for school, I assisted him with preparing his breakfast before the school bus arrived."Goodbye, Mom," Jason waved happily at me as I watched him get on the bus. There were other kids on the bus, and I waved goodbye once he was seated in the middle and had fastened his seatbelt. The bus drove off.I smiled and went back into the house, preparing for my visit to a new house."Amaka, wow. So you finally registered Jason for the school bus," Lazy Ann said as she came into my room. She was set to leave the house for her shop. She wore a blue tailored dress and black slippers, and I replied, "Yes, ma, to relieve me of stress.""That's good. I'm already heading to my shop. Are you leaving the house today?" she asked, standing by

Amaka's POV.After a few more minutes sitting in the living room of Ethan's home, I stood up and asked the butler, "Mr. Evan, is there a library in here?""Yes, Madam, but it's upstairs beside the master's study," he said."Oh. It's alright. I am fine," I replied, looking away from him and telling Jason to join me outside."Mr. Evan, please tell Ethan that we will be outside waiting for him once he is done," I instructed Mr. Evan, who was standing beside the dining table. The dining table had silver chairs, and it was a beautiful setting. The older man replied, "Okay, Ma'am."Jason and I walked out of the house, and he asked me, "Mom, are we going home now?""Yes, once Ethan is done with what he went upstairs to do," I told him, and he smiled. "Alright."I pulled out my phone and snapped a cool evening photo of myself and Jason against the beautiful backdrop of Ethan's home. His house is so beautiful. As I gazed at the lovely evening photos, Ethan came out of the house and asked me, "

Amaka's POV."Wow!" Jason and I gasped as we entered the living room of Ethan's home. "Your house is so beautiful," I told him, and he grinned, stopping in the living room beside us. He said, "It's a pleasure. I just wanted you to know where I live so that you can come over to see me whenever you feel like it.""Awn. Thank you. But I am not your woman, so I cannot be free to come here any way I please," I told him, and he smiled."Would you like to request anything? Like juice or a malt drink?" he asked as I looked around the white living room again. He had a very large flat-screen television, lovely chandeliers hanging brightly above, and high curtains that I couldn't see the end of, adding to the beauty of his living room. The walls featured paintings of him and lovely flower vases around. It was a beautiful living room with inviting off-white couches."No, I am fine. Jason and I are good," I told him, not wanting to accept a drink from him. An elderly man in a white shirt and blac

Anyway, let me go see him. I already made jollof rice this afternoon," I told Aunt Ann, and she replied, "Okay. Let me go into my bedroom and freshen up."Aunt Ann left me just as I walked out of my room and down the corridor. Jason was still engrossed in watching his favorite cartoon on the television, thanks to the constant power supply in our home.As I walked out of the house, I was surprised to see Ethan standing beside his black car. I hadn’t noticed his cars before, but he had different types of black cars. "Hi, good evening," I greeted him first, seeing him wearing a white top and short three-quarter blue j

Maybe because he is not as handsome as you," I told my son, and he frowned."But he is my Daddy," he innocently replied, to which I said, "I know, but not mine. You saw my Daddy, didn't you?""Yes, we saw your daddy. When are we going to see mine?" Jason asked, and I told him, "Later. Tell me, what did your class teacher teach you today? Did she give you any assignments at all?"I tried to shift the topic, and Jason replied, "Yes. She gave me homework. But I haven't done it. It's two-letter words, so I know that simple homework."I smiled, knowing that Jason had watched a lot of educational kids' channels before he started preschool. He was highly intelligent, but I wondered where he got that intelligence from because Joseph was only obsessed with sex. As for me, I wasn't so sure about my own intelligence. I escorted my son into the apartment we share

I have some things I want to handle, including making preparations for a new house that I am planning on renting; also, I have to go pick up my son from school," I told Simon, and he replied, "That's fine. I will call you later to catch up. I'm still in the office now. It's just that I missed you. Or don’t you miss me too?""Well, I do. Take care of yourself, Simon. Bye," I quickly told him and ended the call.
