**Amaka's POV**

The following morning, Maureen's fiancé arrived early to pick her up, and we assisted her in carrying some of her boxes.

Maureen wore a green dress before heading off to take her bath. When she stepped out of the bathroom, she was dressed in a yellow top and a black skirt. She had a born-again look that made it difficult for anyone to know she had been raised by a single mother.

"Thank you, Amaka," Maureen said to me once she finished applying a simple makeup of white powder and lipstick.

"I am going to miss you," she said as she hugged me once more. I smiled and replied, "I’m only a phone call away. Don’t worry; I’ll come over to see you today after I close from work." Chris arrived at 6:30 AM to pick her up in his car.

"Okay," Maureen said, turning to look at Jason as he walked into the room. He wore a white singlet, blue boxers, and black slippers. He looked at us in confusion, wondering where Maureen was going since she was supposed to prepare him for school.

Amaka's POV:As I left the house, I hurriedly made my way to the bus stop further down the street. We lived in an estate, so I had to walk to the gate because I didn't have a car yet.Although Maureen's mother has a small car, since she was taking Jason to school, I didn't want to inconvenience her."Hello, good morning," a black car pulled up beside me. I peered inside and saw a man in a black suit sitting there. He greeted me, "Hi, I see you're in a hurry. Where are you rushing to?""Um, never mind. I have someone to pick me up," I said to the man in the car. He smiled and replied, "Alright. Do you live around here? I've seen you around and would like to get to know you better. I live down this estate road too." He said, and I frowned."Alright. But I'm in a hurry right now. Maybe some other time," I said, wanting to shoo him away. I couldn't believe a man would be chasing after me this early in the day when many passersby were rushing to their workplaces."Alright. Please, miss, he

Joseph's POV:Early in the morning at my house, I awoke in my bed and prepared to leave for the office since Nina and I had slept in different rooms. Nina slept in the guest room downstairs while I slept alone in my room. After getting out of bed, I went to take a shower in my bathroom. As I stood under the shower, I recalled returning home the previous night and seeing Nina in my house. I was not happy that Nina had come to live with me, but I couldn't protest her staying here. It was high time I got married. After finishing my shower, I walked out of the bathroom, went to my closet, and dried off. Next, I donned a black suit and prepared to leave for the office. Even the work project I had brought home the previous night to work on remained untouched, so I planned to tackle it at the office. I didn’t feel like staying in this house. After that, I grabbed my briefcase just as I finished putting on my black shoes, then I set out to leave my house, picking up my car keys from w

Joseph's POV: As I entered my office, I tried not to think too much about Amaka and whether I should inform Nina and my mother that I wasn't ready to get married yet. But who was I fooling? I moved over to my office chair to sit down while Nina gasped as she entered my workspace. "Wow! You have a very beautiful office, babe. I love the white paint, the style of your office, and how spacious it is," Nina said excitedly as she moved around my office. I managed to reply, "Thank you." I sat in my office chair and looked through the glass that revealed Simon's office. "Wow! So you can even see the next staff office here on the top floor? It's so lovely," Nina said as she moved over to the glass to look at Simon's office. Just then, Simon and Amaka entered the office, and I watched in jealousy as Simon moved over to Amaka's desk to speak with her. One thing I couldn't hear whatever they were discussing, but I could see them clearly. "What office is that?" Nina asked me as she

    ### Amaka's POVAs I sat in my chair, Simon came and informed me not to think too much about Joseph's fiancée. He tried to engage me in conversation, telling me how Joseph was one of the coolest bosses he had ever worked with."I’m telling you, Amaka, you shouldn’t worry about our boss. At first, I thought he might be smitten by you, but seeing his fiancée today gives me the go-ahead to chase after you," Simon smiled as he sat down."Really? But I am not interested in men. I just want to work, have money, and care for myself. Men are liars, pretenders, and cheats," I replied, looking at Simon's handsome face as he sat there. He gasped, “Wow! Seems like you’ve been in a failed relationship before?”"Not just failed, but the worst of it," I said, looking away from him to my computer as I tried to upload the details of the new product I was trying to advertise online. There was silence in the office, and after a while, Simon said, “I have also been in a failed relationship. ### Joseph's POV"I'm leaving now, Joe," Ethan said as he approached me. Just as I stepped out of my workspace to have lunch with Nina. Although I wasn't happy with Nina's clinginess, I had to put up with her and replied to Ethan, "That's fine. But you shouldn't be chasing after my female staff here."I watched Amaka walk into the elevator and disappear from my sight. The way she looked away from me made me feel restless, but I couldn’t do anything about it; I had to pretend that I didn't know her. "That's fine, Joseph. Take care of yourself, and you too, pretty," Ethan said to Nina, and she forced a smile in response."Alright, goodbye, sir." Nina and I entered the elevator, heading to the cafeteria. As we entered, my eyes caught sight of Amaka and Simon seated together.Even though the rest of the staff in the cafeteria greeted me upon my entry, I didn’t bother to respond; I remained focused on Amaka and Simon with irritation. Their meals had been served, and they chatted and sm

    ### Nina's POVI wasn’t impressed that I caught Joseph staring at that pretty blonde lady not once but twice.Whenever I asked him about her, he would say that she was just his new staff and he was wondering why Simon was taking care of her. Why should Joseph be bothered about this lady?I remembered when I arrived at the company with Joseph in the morning. My motive was to find out if he had any woman he was seeing in his office and to also see his workplace. I couldn’t relax at home or move to my father’s company to resume my job as an accountant when Joseph had a big company. On top of that, he was handsome and a bit of a bad boy, so many female staff might be drooling over him. He might well have someone he was interested in at the office.I noticed this lady was looking at me in shock when I got out of Joseph's car. One thing I didn’t like was that her office was just beside Joseph's, and several times he was looking at her face, thinking I was busy going through my phone.I w

    ### Nina's POV"Hey sis, are you listening to me?" Kaleb asked, and I sighed before replying, "Yes. I'm good. Why do you advise me to wait until Joseph and I marry? I like him, and I see nothing wrong with us having sex now.""I know. But I was only kidding just to check how you feel," Kaleb replied, and I smiled."No. We haven't. Joseph didn't want to, even when I offered myself to him. He told me we should wait until after marriage," I explained, and Kaleb sighed."Hmm. That's nice. I hope he's not pretending with you. What man would see how pretty you are and still resist you?" Kaleb pressed, wanting to know whether Joseph and I had been intimate."We haven't done anything, Kaleb. Is this why you called me?" I quickly changed the subject, and he grinned."No, I just wanted to know how you're doing. You know you're my only sister, so I have to check on you," he said, to which I responded, "I’m fine.""Alexander was asking about you. He came to my office today, but I told him you wer

    ### Amaka's POV"Is everything alright?" Simon asked as I gasped loudly just as we stepped out of his office."Yes. No. I mean, yes. I am fine," I told him. I internally scolded myself for giving Ethan my username. I prayed he wouldn’t reveal the truth to Joseph before I had a chance to do so myself."That’s fine. You scared me; it was like you forgot something. Are you sure you didn’t forget anything in the office?" Simon asked as we walked to the elevator."No, I didn’t," I offered him a bright smile and walked with him to the elevator.Mrs. Anita stepped out of her office, which was adjacent to the boss's office, and looked at us."When did you two get so close in just two days at the office? Be careful, Amaka. Simon only wants to eat your cookies," Ms. Anita said, to which Simon glared at her."Don't mind her. Let's go," he said as he got into the elevator with me, and the door shut, leading us to the bottom floor.I smiled and followed Simon to his car, but he was still brooding

He wore a black suit and a white shirt underneath, paired with a black pair of shoes. His fair skin glistened as he flashed me his perfect set of white teeth, not knowing the turmoil I was going through."Morning. Wait, Simon," I called him back as I walked up to meet him."Is there anything you want me to assist you with, sir?" he asked, and I looked at his car again, hoping to see Amaka get out of the car, but I didn't see her.Unable to hold my curiosity, I asked him, "What about Amaka? I thought she came to the company every day with you since she started this week with us?"Simon's eyes widened in surprise as he hadn't expected me to ask him about Amaka."Yes, sir. She actual

Nina's POV:The cab arrived at Joseph's house, and I carefully alighted, paid for my ride, and made my way to Joseph's house. It was a peaceful estate. I looked at my golden wristwatch and saw that it was almost 8 AM. I assumed maybe Joseph had gone to his office, so I marched over to his gate and knocked.A security man unlocked the gate and came out of the house to meet me."Good morning, Madam. Who are you looking for?" he asked, and I met his gaze."Musa, did you all of a sudden forget who I am? Open the gate now. Has Joseph left the house?""Oh, Madam. I am sorry I didn't recognize you. Come in," Musa said, and he unlocked the gate for me to enter. As I entered Joseph's residence, my eyes traveled to the driveway where my car and about three of his cars were parked.I assumed Joseph was still inside, and Musa confirmed to me that Joseph had not left the house yet."The boss is inside," he told me with a smile. I smiled and replied, "Alright, I will soon be leaving as I came to pi

Nina's POV:I arrived home the previous day and told my mother all that had happened. I hadn't even gotten the chance to go to Joseph's house to pick up my car and my box of clothes.I just went home straight, and my family wasn't happy about the news, especially after I told them that Joseph had another woman he was interested in and probably had a child."So, what do you want to do about it, Nina?" Mom asked, and I was speechless."I don't know, Mom. I cannot marry Joseph again, and I will move on," I said. My mother comforted me to stop crying, and after a while, I went back to my room to think about the whole thing.Do I like Joseph? Yes, I do. But I don't like the fact that he lies to me.I later had dinner with my family. Throughout the previous day, I waited to see if Joseph would call me, but no call came through. I eventually went to bed.Today, I awoke and decided to go to Joseph's house to pick up my car and box of clothes. We weren't going to marry, and I would certainly g

Amaka's POV;Still in the living room of Aunt Ann's house, my phone rang, and I wondered who was calling me again.Seeing the unknown number, I pondered whether it was Joseph or my family calling me, so I hesitated to pick up the call."Come, Jason. Let's go into the room and sleep. It's getting late," I told my son as I moved over to the couch to join him, just after I rejected the incoming call."Why, Mom?" Jason frowned, his handsome fair face contorting into a deep scowl. He loved cartoons and was perfectly perched on the living room's black couch, not wanting to get down.He simply had no plans of going to bed early tonight."Do you want to stay here in the living room alone? I am tired, and I need to rest. Also, you have to go to school tomorrow, at least before we take a break and make preparations for Maureen's wedding," I told Jason as I approached him on the couch and sat beside him."Come now, let's go and sleep," I said, standing up and wanting to take the television remot

Amaka's POV:Maureen arrived dressed in a blue top and black straight skirt, paired with black shoes."Happy birthday, honey!" she told Jason as she brought many gifts for him and gave him the white plastic bag."Thanks, Aunt!" Jason hugged Maureen happily, and I stood there capturing more photos of them since Maureen hugged him too."He's so adorable, Amaka," Maureen told me with a smile, and I replied in a lovely tone, "Yes. Thanks, dear."I walked to meet Maureen and hugged her, as I missed her. "We miss you, girlfriend," I said soothingly into her ear, since we were the same height."Me too, thanks," Maureen replied just as she pulled away from the hug."Come, let us cut Jason's cake and make a wish. Or should we wait for your mother to arrive?" I asked Maureen gently. Just then, another knock resonated in the living room.Maureen offered to check who was at the door as Jason and I were at the dining table where his cake was.As Maureen pulled the door open, Mrs. Ann entered the l

Amaka's POV,I couldn't believe that I had just spoken with Joseph.Earlier, I woke up and remembered that it was my son's birthday. I hadn't even made many preparations for him.Jason was four years old today, and many thoughts came to my mind, especially considering all I had been through to have him. When I awoke in bed, Jason was still sleeping, so I picked up my phone and checked the time.I saw it was after 4 p.m., and I was famished. I knew that if Jason woke up, he would be hungry too.Since today was his birthday, I had planned to arrange a birthday photoshoot for him, but because of my new job and the agreement I had signed to take my work seriously, I ended up not preparing anything for him. So, I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to prepare my son's birthday cake and our dinner.I thought about giving Simon a call since I had gotten pretty close to him.Due to the agreement I had signed with J.E Group, I couldn't just quit my job unless I paid 10 million. It was a cra

You got the child's mother pregnant, and you expected her to kill this innocent child, just because you don't know the value of human life!" Mom taunted me with mean words, but I remained quiet."Mom, I wasn't to be blamed here. I wasn't ready for marriage then, and I explained it to Amaka.""Just stop talking, Joseph, and give me the young woman's number. You are not my son, and I don't want to see your face anymore if you don't go and apologize to that lady and bring my grandchild home.""Mom!" I looked at her in disbelief, knowing that my mother doesn't just say what she wouldn't do."You heard me correctly, Joseph. Joseph's POV:I gripped the steering wheel as I drove towards the estate where my family's mansion was located. It was far from where I resided, as my current place of residence was very busy, while the estate where my father's mansion was situated was much calmer.Upon arriving at the estate gate, the security men pulled open the large black gate, allowing me entry to park my car. I quickly got out of the vehicle, noting that the sun was still high, though it seemed like the sky was about to open up for heavy rain later.I walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell to announce my presence. A maid opened the door, and I entered the living room of the mansion."Good evening, Mom," I greeted, as I saw my mother seated on the couch with my younger brother, Aaron."Welcome, Joseph. What is happening? What did you do to Nina, and who is the new lady that has a child for you?" Anyway, I came here to congratulate you on your engagement, and now, it seems like the engagement has become ruined."I looked at Aaron's face without saying anything to him as I went back to my office seat and sat down."I have to be on my way home, bro. I called Danna and told her that I am back. She said she's at school and cannot come now to welcome me. I have to go home. Take care, bro, and try to sort the child out. Besides, when you were dating many pretty women, you ought to have been careful."I didn't reply to Aaron and watched him leave my office. My mind was filled with thoughts on how Amaka had kept the pregnancy and never told me about it.She had mentioned that her family sent her away and she had been through a lot because of me.My mother will be angry once she finds out about this.
