Chapter 3

I caught a silver gleam flash across my eyes as the knife swung down. My skin sliced open as blood started trickling down my cheeks.

I felt a deep, uncontrolled hatred as I glared at them.

Amora stepped right in my face. “How dare you glare at me!

“Come on and hold her down. I’m going to kick the baby inside her out. We’ll see what leverage she has over Devin then!”

With that, her friends grabbed my hands and ruthlessly pried them away from my exposed stomach.

A surge of fear rushed through me. I was worried that they were going to hurt my baby.

I begged her, “No, not my baby!”

Amora flashed a sinister smile. “You are a nasty seductress and that makes the baby inside you a bad seed, too! Purging the baby is my contribution to society!”

She raised her foot before stomping down as hard as she could on my stomach.

“Ah—” I screamed like I had never screamed before.

It seemed like it was not enough for her. She jabbed repeated kicks at my stomach, with each kick harder than the last.

“You shameless wench! How’d you like that?”

A sharp pain coursed from my stomach to every nerve in my body. I felt like a barn animal in the slaughterhouse; there was nothing I could do to fight back.

The display was so violent that even the onlookers could not stomach it anymore.

Someone stepped forward and pleaded for me, “Miss, the girl is pregnant. You’re going to kill the baby if you keep kicking her! Please, murder is a crime!”

Amora smiled wickedly. “It’s just a fetus, anyway. I have more than enough money to get away with it!”

“Just because you have money doesn’t mean you can go around hurting people all you want! What’s the point of the law if people like you exist?”

Amora's friends started to boast. “Amora is the daughter of the president of Goldhill Corporation. There’s nothing her father wouldn’t give her! Nobody in Kovic City can stop her from getting her way!”

At first, there were a few people in the crowd who were ready to step forward to put an end to the violence. However, the moment they heard this, they hesitated and decided it was not worth getting involved.

After all, everyone in Kovic City knew about Goldhill Corporation!

The name was quite literal, as the corporation possessed more than half of the assets in the city and was nearly a complete monopoly.

Some in the crowd even began to take Amora’s side.

“She deserves to get beat up for being a homewrecker!”

“I’ve always thought it was completely unfair that even a bastard child gets to inherit assets. It’s a complete insult to the legitimate son! The child must die!”

“I lost my husband to another disgusting homewrecker too! Beat her up, she deserves it!”

“We have to make sure that homewreckers like her get what’s coming to them!”

Now that everyone had taken Amora’s side, she grew haughtier than ever.

She announced jovially, “I’m glad you all recognize that this is justice! Tonight’s bill is on me. You all earned it!”

The mob was thrilled by this and began to hurl all kinds of insults at me. I have never heard such profanity in my life.

I feebly tried to defend myself.

“I’m not a homewrecker…

“I am Devin’s wife.”

Amora squatted next to me and slapped my face, which was bloody by this point. “You sure have some guts to call yourself his wife!”

“He told me I was the only one he loved. You must have tricked him with some nasty tricks!

“You must have a death wish to try to steal my man! You’re not going to live through this!”

I felt yet another brutal slam against my stomach, followed by a sharp pain stemming from inside my body. I felt a warm gush of liquid flow between my legs.

“My baby, my baby…”
