Chapter 1

On Valentine's Day, I waited for my husband at the restaurant where he had made a reservation.

My heart was full of love. I had just become pregnant with our baby.

Suddenly, eight women barged into the restaurant. The one leading the charge was a woman dressed in a halter top, tight leather pants, and stilettos.

The waiter approached them, “Hello, miss. Do you have a reservation? I’m afraid we are fully booked for the night.”

The woman shoved the waiter away and hissed, “Move! I’m here to catch my boyfriend in the act!

“He’s been spending all this money on Valentine's Day to see her! I’m not going to be satisfied until I skin that fox alive!”

The group of women trailing behind her echoed after her, “That woman must have a death wish to try to steal Amora Smith’s man!”

“We’re going to make her regret ever being born!”

I stayed in my seat and braced myself for the rowdy scene I was about to witness. This group of people seemed like the bad sort. Whoever they were after was going to be in a world of trouble.

Still, I didn’t have much sympathy for a woman who would willingly become a homewrecker.

When the group turned in my direction and started marching toward me, my first instinct was to hold a hand protectively over my belly. Then, I got up to make way for them.

Even if I wanted to spectate, I knew better and kept my distance. I had to be especially cautious since I was pregnant.

What caught me completely off guard was that Amora, the woman leading the group, suddenly came after me. She seized me by my hair and slapped me ferociously across the face without warning.

“Thought you could get away, you shameless woman?!”

The scorching pain pulsing on my cheeks caught me completely off-guard.

Her nails, which were sharp like daggers, dug into my flesh as she glowered at me with hatred.

“So this is the sweet and dainty woman seducing my boyfriend!”

It was only then that I connected the dots.

For some unknown reason, she had mistaken me for the woman seducing her boyfriend.

I clenched my teeth through the pain and tried to reason with her. “Miss, are you sure there hasn’t been a misunderstanding? I don't know you or your boyfriend.”

Amora slapped me across the face again.

“How dare you try to steal my boyfriend and still have the guts to deny it?!

“I’m going to skin you alive! Let’s see if you can steal my man after!”

With that, she kicked me and knocked me over before commanding her friends, “Get her!”

The moment she howled the order, her friends surrounded me and started jabbing kicks at me.

I curled over on the ground and tried to shield my belly with my arms while crying out frantically, “I swear I’m not the mistress you are looking for! I’m pregnant. My husband is Devin Rose! Public assault is a crime!”

Then I felt the sharp point of Amora’s heels digging into the back of my hand shielding my belly.

“Huh, you just gave yourself away! Devin is my boyfriend. We have been dating for two years! I didn’t spend tens of millions of dollars on him just for him to leave me!

“Did you force him to leave me by using your pregnancy as leverage?

“Listen up, don’t you ever even think about it!”

My mind went blank.

Did she just say Devin was her boyfriend?
