Chapter 21

(Emily’s POV).

“Hey, Dad. Sorry I've been so busy today,” I greeted him.

I rubbed his hand while he was literally sitting in a wheelchair. He couldn't speak or move because of the stroke and I was really sad to see him in this condition. But I tried my best to not look sad in front of him.

“I'll leave you two alone,” Laura said as she rubbed my shoulder.

I nodded and thanked her for taking such good care of my father. But all of this was also because Mike had arranged it.

“I don't know how long you'll be like this, Dad. But I wanted to tell you something that might shock you. I asked beforehand so that you would not be surprised by this news, Dad.”

I took a breath and let it out slowly. Honestly, Mike should be the one to tell him, but I wanted to tell my father right away because it felt like a big deal if I didn't tell him right away.

“I met a man who can help us, Dad. Help us get our company back,” I said, starting. “You know him, but let me explain the chronology to you first.”
