MARIA'S POV.
It was a bright morning, the sun shining at its peak, casting a beautiful glow through the hospital glass, my hips swinging left and right as I walked through the hospital halls. The male doctors and some patients' mouths fell open as I passed them, they whispered among themselves. “Isn't that Maria Maria?” They asked each other. Yes, I am Maria Maria, I changed my last name, there was no need to carry on my last name after they chased me out of the company. “I am sorry,” a man bumped into me. “I am sorry,” he apologized, with a bow and turned to go. “Michael,” I called. He paused immediately, turning back to me. “How do you know my name?” He asked, his brows furrowed in curiosity. Thirty minutes later we sat in a coffee shop, he sat quietly across the table sipping his coffee. “You seem to miss the coffee a lot,” I broke the silence. “I am trying to process all that you just said,” he revealed, dropping the cup on the table. “So you're telling me that you found me just in time to save me from the clutches of Allen's men but I fell into a coma because of the fake blast?” I nodded in affirmation. “I had to take care of you for a whole year and made sure that Allen and your girlfriend…” “Ex,” he blurted out. “Ex-girlfriend, thinks you are dead, it wasn't an easy job.” “So what do you want me to do? Go back to your family and tell them the truth?” He scoffed. I nodded. “I did some digging and found out you were not in support of Allen's act, so he tried to kill you, we are both victims, and I want us to take revenge.” “I am sorry, Maria, but I can't do that, I will kill Allen myself,” he growled getting up from his seat. “Allen is not in your league anymore, you can't kill him anymore, thanks to your lie, I was kicked out of the company and Allen became a member of The Rodriguez's group, almost becoming chairman of the company.” “I will get him myself, you don't worry,” he said and stormed out. How resilient…but foolish. Adam walked towards me. “What should we do?” I got up from my chair, picking out the invisible dirt on my skirt. “We follow him,” I replied and walked to the car. Adam followed me immediately, directing the driver to follow the cab that Micheal entered. The cab got to Allen's company, and Micheal stormed out immediately seeing his ex-girlfriend Joan. Adam turned to me. “What are we going to do? He might cause a scene.” My lips curled into a mischievous smile as I put in my earplugs. “Let's just watch,” I winked at her. “Are you really going to do nothing?” Adam asked, her brows furrowed in curiosity. “They might kill him this time and all your efforts would go down the drain.” “Micheal needs to understand that he isn't the drug lord that the city once feared… that part of him died in the fire a long time ago.” Adam turned back to Micheal's direction. “They are dragging him away…give your orders.” “Tell the men to follow him but from a distance, they shouldn't interfere until Micheal gets in real trouble,” I instructed. Adam nodded in affirmation picking up her phone. “Follow him closely but do not get involved until he gets in trouble,” she instructed over the phone. “Let's go back home,” I commanded. The driver nodded in affirmation and started the car. I looked back at Micheal as he tried to fight the people dragging him away, Joan stood there, her mouth open as though she had seen a ghost. Well…she has seen a ghost…who wouldn't be shocked after seeing a man that was involved in a car explosion and you saw his body to confirm his death. The driver took us to my mansion. I got out of the car glancing around the compound. It's been a year and finally, I was going to get my revenge. Allen succeeded in getting everyone in the company to turn against me, I only had two options…get married to Allen and try and work my way up to the top again or leave the company I know Allen too, he had another plan of his…so I left, But none of them knew about my secret company. I finally got to concentrate on my company and in less than a year, it became the most powerful company in the world, it wasn't so hard for me to achieve that because I was the one who grew The Rodriguez's group. I had everything I wanted, and I was more powerful than the people who chased me out, but I was after one thing, revenge and I was finally getting it. I sat quietly in my office, my eyes fixed on the clock, it was almost five hours and we had heard nothing from any of my men. Adam walked in, and trailing behind her was Micheal. His face filled with anger, one that could consume everyone around him. “Micheal,” I smiled getting up from my seat. “It seems that you have gotten your answer.” “That crook,” he cussed, clenching his fist. “Joan really thinks that she can get away with everything she has done?” He muttered gulping down the bottle of water on my table. “I saved your life twice,” I smiled. “Thank you,” he forced a smile, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “After Allen became one of the most powerful people in The Rodriguez's group, he became untouchable, I became one of the richest persons in the world, yet I still can't get revenge, do you know why?” Micheal said nothing, his brows forming a knot. “He has The Rodriguez's group protecting him, so I can't harm him physically, I can only fight to take the group away from him, but I can't do that alone.” Micheal's fist clenched in anger as he gritted his jaws. I could see his anger flaring up, more dangerous than before. “Fine,” he growled. “I would help you take down Allen but you would have to help me get back my life, that Joan stole from me.” “Agreed,” I smiled, handing him a contract booklet. “You have to sign this if you agree with the rules.” He took the book from me, flipping the pages open. “It says here that we have to get married, why? I smiled, exchanging glances with Adam. “Allen doesn't know I am in town, well he knows that the president of my company is in town but he doesn't know me yet, so let's get introduced together, so that way we can easily cover our tracks, a little. I have moved on charade.” “I don't care,” Micheal blurted out as he took the pen and signed the book. “I am willing to do anything to bring down Allen and Joan and get my son back.” Adam stepped forward collecting the booklet. “Now that you have signed it, it is time to give you a new identity, Allen has his men searching all over for you, he should give him an endless search…let's give you a new face and a new name.” Micheal nodded in agreement. “I'm in.” “Good,” I smiled, handing him and Adam a glass of wine. “Cheers to revenge.” “To revenge,” they said in unison as we clicked our glasses together. Watch out Allen…we are coming for you.MARIA'S POVI'd say Old Grandpa was the only one who was genuinely happy to see me.The rest of the people at the party had just been there as a formality.I can't blame them, I would be mad too if I had received an invitation out of the blue. But maybe I shouldn't complain. This party was for me after all, was it not?Maria Rodriguez. My name. The name that sent shivers down men's spine in my world.I was young, rich, beautiful, and successful. Everything anybody could ever wish for. Being the CEO at 26 had created so many opportunities for me and now I was leading the most successful company in the world.“Ah, Maria. Nice to meet you” An old man who I immediately recalled as Mr Lionel from old family dinners greeted me as he bowed slightly.I immediately returned the gesture and straightened up to see him looking around.“Ah, where's Allen?” The man's eyes scanned around the room, looking for him.“Oh, he's not here” I quickly said.Allen Thomas. MARIA. I woke up with a splitting headache, I cleaned my blurry eyes as I scanned through the room, wondering how I was still alive after getting involved in a fatal accident. Someone was there at the scene, and he pulled me out before the car exploded, I owe him my life but right now I don't have any time for this, I have to tell my grandfather about Allen's unfaithful act. I got up from my bed, looking at the mirror in front of me and I had no scratch on my body. How would that be? That accident could have taken my life but I ended up not having a single scratch. I glanced around, it was definitely a hotel room but the man was nowhere to be found and there was nothing to show that anyone was there except me. I grabbed my purse and walked out of the room, I had to get home quickly, Allen would pay for everything he had done. I wasted two years of my life, I gave two years of my whole life to Allen…I left to grow his dying business and this is what he was doing behind my back…
MICHAEL'S POV. I sat quietly on the couch shaking the glass of wine in my hand, my mind still clouded with guilt. I still couldn't believe Allen talked me into this evil act, it wasn't because I was righteous, I was the complete opposite. My name was Micheal but I was known among the billionaires as “The drug devil”. I was a drug dealer, one that you shouldn't mess with…one that valued money more than family. I was someone who sent shivers through people's spine, there was no single person that crossed me and never lived. I had everything, the face, the looks, the aura, the money, the power…everything was at the tip of my fingers, there was nothing I couldn't do or get. But how did I end up here? Let's rewind… I killed a family, from the father to his two-day-old child, he was a cop…yeah, I never feared authority, he messed up a deal and I lost fifty million dollars because of that, but after that, it was like a whole was left in me, I felt empty…this wasn't the life I want
MICHAEL'S POV. I opened my eyes slowly as I looked around me. The last thing I remembered was the lady with Allen knocked me out. I couldn't believe he could do this…after everything I have done, and sacrificed for him, he was beyond redemption, when I see him I would make sure I cut his legs off. I looked around, I was placed in my car, I tried opening the door but it was jammed, I scanned the surroundings hoping to find someone who could help me, but it appeared that I was on top of a cliff. Why would they bring me here? Were they planning to threaten me or kill me? Either way, I would make sure the two of them pay for everything they have done.“You have woken up,” I heard Allen's voice, I turned to the screen attached to my windshield. “Allen,” I smoldered, clenching my fist in anger. “You little bastard… when I get out of here….”“I would rip your limbs apart and feed them to my dogs,” he interrupted, rolling his eyes. “C'mon Mike, we both know you are no longer capable of t
