Unwanted Gift

“Good morning, ma’am,” Lee said, causing me to open my eyes.

I peered at her through my sleep mask and closed my eyes again, but then she pulled off the duvet from my body.

“Mr. Guerra will be here in a few minutes and he wants you awake,” she said, and I jerked up at once, removing the sleep mask, tossing it away.

Then I stared at my finger to see the beautiful diamond ring sitting pretty.

“Isn’t it wonderful?” I asked with a smile and Lee returned the smile, nodding her head, which caused me to roll my eyes.

Sometimes her energy was off and it made me believe she hadn’t forgiven me for what I did to her.

Lee opened the curtains, allowing the stream of sunlight to attack my face, and then she said, “I’ll go fix a bath.”

“There will be no need for that.”

We both turned to see Dante standing by the door with his t-shirt unbuttoned and one hand in the pocket of his pants.

“Lee, leave,” he said in a low tone and then he walked up to me.

As soon as Lee shut the door, Dante sat down
