I awoke with a big grin on my face. I need to start my day off on a good note-
"AHHHH!"
When I heard Haxilla cry in the living room, I bolted.
"Can you tell me what happened?" Brittany was the one who asked.
"A cockroach flew on her body, and you know how much Hax despises cockroaches," she explained as she stood there watching Haxilla jump and roll around the room.
"Did you simply stand there like that? Oh, please help me-ah!" Hax had fallen on the couch.
With a shake of my head, I returned to my room. Later, when she realizes the cockroach has gone away from her, she will be fine.
I can still hear her yells, but I choose to ignore them and prepare for my interview.
Sel, be courageous and confident. You've got this!
Haxilla stopped whining and began preparing breakfast as if nothing had happened earlier.
"Are you certain you're only going for an interview?" With a sly grin, Haxilla inquired.
I rolled my eyes at her before sitting down to eat.
"Are you attending a fashion show?" They laughed as Britanny added.
I'm wearing a red pencil cut and off-the-shoulder dress that's fitted to my body shape. I also wore it with 3-inch white sandals that Haxilla gave me for my birthday last year.
But I think it's fine; they're just exaggerated.
"You know what, Sel, you don't look like an interviewee," Britanny said abruptly.
"How is that possible?" While slicing a hotdog, I inquired.
"Many people, especially when you first joined the company, think you're one of the bosses," Haxilla responded.
I burst out laughing. Is it true that I am that stunning?
"I said that not because you're beautiful now; we just think your dress up is a little bit too much for an interviewee," she added instantly, which changed my mood.
"Fuck you!" In a bad mood, I cursed as I ate the bread. Britanny, throw me a hotdog.
"Your language!" she exclaimed.
I stood up, mimicking her. They wished me well, but I ignored them.
I woke up happy, and now they're ruining it? Fudge, you are so lucky, Selena.
I walked to the garage; I'll drive now because I'm not comfortable commuting in this outfit.
When I was going to get inside the car, I saw the tires were flat!
What an eventful day!
I raced back to my house and barely knocked on Haxilla's door. When she abruptly opened the door, I almost hit her.
"What?!"
"How come you didn't inform me that the tires on my automobile are flat?" I screamed.
She bites her lower lips and walks backward slowly.
"Ahm, I forgot to say it, I'm sorry, I love you," she said as she shut the door behind her, leaving me speechless.
Instead of whining here, I went outside and dashed to catch a bus.
Because I'm uncomfortable, I'm continuously pulling my dress down.
Finally, a bus arrives, and I immediately board it. Because of embarrassment and the feeling that they were all staring at me, I was looking down.
I sat in my assigned seat on the bus; there was a person seated beside me, but I didn't pay attention to him until he covered my legs with his jacket.
When I recognized him, I asked, "Raven?"
"You look uneasy in that dress," he said, his gaze returning to the book he was reading.
I sat properly and snatched his jacket.
"Yeah, I'm not going to commuting now because Haxilla didn't say my tires were flat," I grumbled.
I noticed him smirking and shaking his head.
"She never changed," he said as if recalling something.
"So you've known each other for a long time?" I inquired about my suspicions.
"Yes, we've been together before," he answered, smiling at me.
Couple? Is it true that he said 'couple'?
My brow furrowed as I tried to link all of my suspicions together. So, yes, I was correct.
"That makes sense," I responded as I reclined in my seat.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"The presence of Haxilla is unmistakable. She is a mysterious but open person."
He leans in closer to me as he mulls over what I said. I sighed as I glanced at him.
"Her acts, in other words, were betraying her. She doesn't say much, but her actions speak volumes," I explained myself. He nods and returns to his proper seat.
"I've never known that, she's always been more verbal."
"Perhaps she's a different person around you," I insisted.
We also discuss Haxilla and their history. That's why she's always interested when I bring up Raven.
I also knew Raven was a doctor, which explains why he abruptly hung up the phone the last time.
I got off the bus and fixed myself on my way to work.
"Hello?" When my phone rang, I answered it.
[Are you Selena Formosus?]
Her voice was strange to me, and she dialed an unregistered number.
"Yes, but why?"
[I'm sorry to inform you that your interview has been canceled for the time being; however, because you are in the running for the position, we have moved your schedule. I hope you get what I'm saying.]
She hung up, and I sat down on a bench because my knees felt weak.
I'm disappointed because my interview day hasn't arrived yet.
I'm also pleased that I'm at the top of their priority lists.
So, what should feeling I concentrate on?
I just sat in the park for a moment to clear my head, but like they say, "Expect the unexpected."
A group of small children was playing football next to me, and unfortunately, one of them accidentally smacked me in the head without saying anything.
"You're lucky your parents are there; otherwise, you're all dead meat now," I grumbled.
My brain was jumbled up, Fudge.
I stood up but soon sat back down on the bench because my body felt was dizzy. I walked slowly but was knocked down by a bunch of teenagers who were taunting each other.
They simply stared at me and walked away as if nothing had occurred. I got up and walked again.
Is it difficult to just express "I'm sorry" these days?
Is it a matter of pride to do it?
I shook my head, but I could feel their gaze sweeping through my entire being. Haxilla, it's all your fault.
"Can I get your phone number, Miss?" Suddenly, a man approached me.
I punched him in the face in a split second. I'm not in the mood for flirting!
His companions-even the park visitors-were taken aback by what I'd done. He does, however, deserved it.
"I'm sorry, my fist automatically lands on jerk's face," I said, despite my desire to kill him with a punch.
"Who are you to punch me?" he exclaimed, arrogantly.
He pushed me repeatedly, and I didn't feel afraid; in fact, I found it fascinating. He pushed me once more till my back was against the post.
He was given a baseball bat by one of his mates, which he swung and slammed into the post behind me. Everyone who was watching us gasped in surprise, but I didn't even flinch.
I offered him an arrogant smirk while raising my left brow, which infuriated him even more. My hands were in my pockets as I looked up at the post and shook my head.
"If the post was a human, you'd be dead right now," I irritated him.
He swung his baseball bat once again, and I'm confident it'll strike me this time. I gently but firmly yanked his collar, pinning him to the post and locking his head. I take the baseball bat and toss it in the trash.
"First, make sure the person you're going to approach is in the mood, okay?" I murmured and slammed his head against the wall, explaining why it bled.
He couldn't stand properly due to dizziness, so he fell on the grass, and I pushed him a little to get his entire body to feel the grass.
"I'm going to kill you," he said, but all I did was shrug my shoulders.
I went to collect my stuff and left him in that predicament.
I'm exhausted.
As soon as I arrived home, I threw myself on the couch.
"How did it come to this?" While stroking my body, Britanny inquired. While enjoying an ice cream, Haxilla also gazed at me.
I toss her a pillow, which strikes her hand and causes her ice cream to spill.
She shouted, "What the fudge, Sel?!?" I gave her a sidelong glance as I rolled my eyes.
"What's going on?" Incredulous, Britanny inquired. Haxilla began cleaning up the ice cream splatter.
In frustration, I remarked, "Haxilla ruined my whole day."
"How come it's all my fault?" she demanded fiercely.
"If you hadn't yelled before if you had told me my car tires were flat, my day would be better!"
They fell hushed in horror as I roared at her.
"I need to rest right now," I said as I walked straight to my room. Britanny called out to me, but I slammed the door shut.
I don't want to scream at Haxilla, but what happened in the park has heightened my emotions.
He didn't upset me by simply asking for my phone number, but the tension has caused me to lose my cool.
As I finished my bath, I laid down on my bed.
It helps to relieve some of the stress in my body. My interview was scheduled for tomorrow, according to the interviewer's text message.
I was ready to fall asleep when someone knocked on my door.
"Please come in."
Haxilla approached me carefully and sat on the edge of my bed. She paused for a few moments before deciding to speak.
She began by saying, "I'm sorry for what happened."
She squeezed her hands and pressed her lips together.
"I'm so—"
"Raven told me everything before," I said, interrupting her. I don't want her to apologize again and over because I'm not angry; stress caused me to do those things.
Her eyes widened, and I could sense her anxiety.
"Everything?"
"About your past," I added, and she exhaled as if she had heard something that relieved her.
"Yes, we were a couple for over 5 years before we traveled to London," she added, smiling, but her eyes were filled with worry.
"You don't tell me lies, do you?" I inquired.
She gives me a nod and takes my hands in hers.
"Are you sure you can trust me?" I nod at her, even though I sensed something unusual in her eyes.
Haxilla had already exited the room, and I noticed a piece of paper on the seat where she had previously sat.
I took it out of the package and read what was inside.
"Jacob Morelli?"
Who is he?
Why does Haxilla have his name?
As soon as Britanny entered my room, I quickly buried the paper.
She asked, leaning against the door, "How's your talk?"
"We're good," I answered, as she drew closer and sat in the same spot as Haxilla.
"Can you just tell us if something happens?"
She left the room after I nodded.
I rose after a few moments and noticed Haxilla on the phone again.
"Haxilla, what is your secret?"
I walked closer to hear what they're talking about.
"She was stressed out earlier to the point that she yelled at us, she doesn't usually do that to us."
I crouched in the recesses of the wall, hoping she wouldn't notice me.
She began to move left and right as if she were considering something essential.
"Yes, I've considered that, but telling her now would be too risky. I don't want her to suffer any more, "she expressed her concern.
Is she talking about me?
I move in closer to hear what they're saying.
"All I want is for her to be safe," she remarked as she walked back to her room.
Until she enters her room, I hide behind the curtains.
I was in a rush because I had gotten up late yet again. I've never gotten up on time, geez. When the bus came to a halt in front of me, there were a lot of people going inside, and I couldn't get in because of the crowd. With a frown on my face, I walk backwards to allow them to pass. Why did I get terrible luck when I was born? I checked my watch and realized that waiting for another bus would make it difficult for me to make it to the interview on time. Running is easy for me because I wear flat sandals. People who bumped into me were ignored as I ran. A number of individuals have voiced their displeasure with my actions, but I haven't had the opportunity to apologize to them yet.
"Finally, we met," Ma'am Perfiana said as we exchanged handshakes. "Yes, I'm really apologetic for the previous day; my documents got bogged down in a muddy puddle," I stated. Her face was filled with both confusion and worry. "Why? What went wrong? "She inquired as she prepared her laptop for the interview. "I got bumped by a jackass, grr nevermind," I joked, and she laughed as well. We're seated on a bench outside the company, which is unusual for a job interview. "By the way, ma'am, does the job interview have to take place within the company?" I inquired. "Look at the spot where we are," she replied with a smile. Only a few folks were walking there when I looked around. Unlike outside of a company, there is a low population count here. "All I see are people walking by..." "The company was l
"You're wearing that outfit again," Haxilla said as I walked out to my room."What?! Today is my actual interview," I said and sat down for breakfast.Britanny was preparing the food on the table, and my brow furrowed when I noticed a cake that was unusual on our breakfast table."Why are we having a cake? Today is none of our birthdays.""That's our good luck gift for you," Britanny said, smiling as she sat down.I'm not sure what happened, but my heart began to skip a beat."Thank you for being so sweet." I was about to hug them when they backed away.I came to a halt and gave them a cold stare. They didn't love me, hmp! I sat down in my chair with a betrayed expression on my face.
"Wait, you're saying the glasses you broke in your life are the most important requirement?" Incredulous, Haxilla inquired. In the interview, I told them everything that had happened the day before."Yes, when I was aware of it. My heart was racing so fast, "I said this as I was cutting paper for a flower origami. We're assisting Britanny with her client's debut design."That's strange. By the way, you're friends now with Haru?" Britanny inquired as she glittered the flowers."No, I'm not sure. Perhaps just a casual get-to-know-each-other?""Do you have a photo of him?"In response to Haxilla's question, I shook my head.My phone rang as we were putting the finishing touches on the flowers a
"You passed out again yesterday, Haru brought you home." I choked on what Haxilla said. I wipe my mouth after drinking. "H-How did he know our address?" I asked, confused. She pinched me on my belly. "Are you that really stupid?" she said while pinching my belly. "A-Ah, that hurts Hax!" I exclaimed. "You applied for them, so it's normal to know your information, moron!" I pouted my lips and continued eating my soup. My brows furrowed when I was trying to remember what happened yesterday. Do we stand under the sun for me to pass out? Argh, I don't know. My head still hurts.
"Where did you go the day before? What made Britanny come to you first?" While preparing breakfast, Haxilla inquired."I went to the mall to get the foods you requested," I explained while eating my bread and chatting with Haru on Instagram. He texted me last night about what happened to us in his car. It is, however, very good.Shocks, every time I recall my cheeks burning up. We've only known each other for about a month, but we did that "thing."He sends me random messages, tells me jokes and serious stuff, but never mentions his personal life. I didn't coerce him into telling me; it's still his personal space.Everytime he sents a message, I can't stop myself to smile, it always gives me a butterfly in my stomach feeling."Hey, who's that guy that made you blush?" Britanny suddenly took my phone away so I need to chase her.I'm dead i
"Can you tell me why you chose that location for your engagement party?" Haxilla asked Kaley a question that made me roll my eyes."Isn't it self-evident—""Shut up, I'm not asking you," she said, and my mouth opened slightly in surprise. What on earth did she say?!"Wow, you're talking to me like that now, huh?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued by what she had just said."Why? Is it illegal for me to speak to you in this manner?!" She fought back, and the fact that her voice rose to the surface was the cause of Kaley's panic."Hello! Try not to battle here, my God! OK, Haxilla, I picked that place since that is the thing that Aunt Lea's need. She truly pushed us to pick that spot," Kaley clarified while taking a gander at us in the back reflect.I inclined toward the vehicle's window and watching the raindr
"Haxilla, clean up your mess here!""I don't want to do it because you're the one who started it.""Wow, my coffee wouldn't have spilled if you hadn't bumped my arm!"What's going on this early in the morning?I shook my head in frustration and walked out of my room half-awake. I witnessed Haxilla and Britanny yelling at each other over a spilled cup of coffee."Oh, my goodness, Britanny! Simply wash it—"They stopped fighting when I grabbed a rag and began mopping up the spilled coffee on the floor."S-Selena, you're awake," Britanny said while watching me mopping the spilled coffee.I stood up and sighed in their presence."I can't imagine how messed up your house will be if you don't have a maid," I said, and they averted their gaze, perhaps because they were embarrassed.
"Wylow! Come here, baby." I wiped Wylow's mouth that is full of chocolate, Haru gave me an extra tissue. "Britanny should be the one who is doing that." He said, I threw the used tissue on his face. "She's busy on preparing the foods." He sat down at my side while fixing Wylow's hair, "If we ever have a baby, she will be beautiful like you or he will be more handsome than me?" I pushed him with all my strength, "Stop that nonsense. I didn't even give you a permission to court me again." "I can court you in bed," he said while twitching his eyebrows up and down. Yuck, he's so disgusting. We left him there, I heard him calling my name, but I ignored it. While waiting for Britanny and Haxilla, I scrolled at my feed. "Their baby is so cute." Maxine posted their family picture for the
BRITTANY'S POV "Drive faster, Wade." I'm praying hard while we're on our way to Selena. I keep on telling myself that nothing bad will happen to her, nothing. She'll be safe while waiting for us. Wade tried to overtake from the cars in front of us. We both became annoyed when the red light appeared in the traffic lights. This shit, we need to get there faster, we don't know what things can Jacob do to Selena. "Jaxon is here already," Haru said when we saw men that are lying on the ground unconscious. I'm a bit amazed on how Jaxon did this all by himself, he's an ace. We followed Haxilla when she suddenly run at the warehouse. We saw that Jacob hitting Jaxon at the other side, while Selena almost lost her voice because of her screaming. I immediately run to her while our other friends trying to stop the men of Jacob. "Get away of here with Jaxon,"
SELENA'S POV "Do you want to have a wine?" Jacob asked me while holding a bottle of wine and two wine glasses. I smiled at him and get one wine glass. We are quiet while appreciating the beauty of the stars at night and a tasty wine. It's been a while since I felt this kind of peace, it is so satisfying. "Are you feeling well now?" he asked after a long silence. I nod, "Hm, thanks to you." "That's nothing—oh, wait, someone is calling." When he gets out of the room, I immediately tapped the recording app on my phone and checked the other phone if it's already linked to the other one. Since I found the GPS device at my bracelet, something unsual starting to bother me. His footsteps are getting closer and louder, that's why I just kicked my other phone under the bed because I panicked. "Did you wait for l
HARU'S POV "What is she doing there?" I asked myself when the GPS was at the empty lot, a bit far away from their house. Did Jacob just... Oh, shit! No, it can't be! I immediately get my keys and jackets, rushed to get to my car to go where Selena is. While driving, my heart beating so fast that it can go out of my ribs at any moment, the cold sweats also covered my forehead and palms. "What?" I answered Haxilla call. [Where are you going? Why you're so in rush?] I'm biting now my nails because of anxiety, "How did you know?" [I'm about to go to your house and saw you that you're in rush. I'm actually behind your car now.] A red car is tailing me, that's Haxilla. She shouldn't follow me, she can't see the body of her sister if ever that Jacob did something brutal. That bastard, I should have killed him
SELENA'S POV "You don't need to do that." Jacob appeared at my side and took away the dishes from my hands. He smiled at me that made me pout, he is always smiling at me like it will convince me to do whatever he says to me. I rolled my eyes and continue washing the dishes," I'm fine, okay? It's not that hard." His stares are making hole to my soul, it made me look back at him while my brows are furrowed. "What's the thing with that stare?" I asked him. "What if Jaxon didn't do that thing? Do you think you will be in this kind of situation?" He asked me back that made me shocked and get hit by realization. I smiled, "No one wants it to happen, and he's not the one to blame why my life became like this. It's his parents." Even though my heart literally crushed into pieces when I knew the news about him
HARU'S POV "Where are you going?" Jacob asked as he stopped at my front. I ignored him and continue my walk to Selena's house, he suddenly pulled my arm to stop me again. "What's your problem?! I just want to check if Selena is fine," I shouted at him. He smirked, "She's not that well, so please, go back wherever you're from because any moment now, Selena will wake up." And motioned the way out of this house. I put my hands at my pocket and directly looked at his eyes, "What's your plan?" "What do you mean?" "I know you're planning something, that's why you keep on getting close with Selena." He laughed and tapped my shoulder, "You're so observant, Haru. That's right, I'm doing this to get her trust and my business will run smoothly." "What?!" My forehead creased, my fist clenched and any moment from n
ALEXA'S POV "Alexa! Alexa!" I looked at Haven, who is running hurriedly towards me, "What's the matter?" I asked. She showed me her phone, an article is there, Sir Jaxon and Ms. Maxine are the thumbnail of that article, "Read it." She let me get her phone, so I can read properly the article. My eyes widened while reading it, this must be a fake news, there's no way that Sir Jaxon will do it to his wife. "That's fake news for sure," I said and give her back her phone. She stomped her feet while shaking my shoulder, insisting that it's real. "Haven, please, we have so much to do here to believe that kind of shit." "It's real." Konrad suddenly appeared at her back. He told Haven to leave my office, he looked at me while dropping off the documents that I asked him. "Don't tell that you believe it—" "Sir Ja
SELENA'S POV "Nanny Karen? Can you help us—" my words cut when her room is empty. Where did she go? I walked downstairs to ask Haxilla. "Where's Nanny Karen? I can't find her," I asked Haxilla while looking around the house. She throws me a balloons and tapes, instead of answering my questions. "Put some air for that and put it around the banner." "I'm asking you if you know where Nanny Karen go," I repeat my question. "She picked up the others on the airport. Hurry, they'll be here any minute," she said and run to Hershey when she heard it cry. I shrugged and fix the other decorations, while doing it, someone knocks on the door. "Please open the door, Sel. Maybe it's the cake I ordered." As I finished tying up the balloons, I walked quickly to the door, a delivery man holding a box of cake smiled at me, "Delivery for Haxill
THREE WEEKS LATER SELENA'S POV Haxilla runs towards me while holding a bouquet, "I bought you your favorite flowers! Coral roses." "Thank you," I looked at her and smiled, "Do you want to go to Bay Area with me?" She shook her head that made my shoulder to fall, "I'm busy for Raven's surprise party," she whispered and shake my shoulders. "All right, all right, stop it. What are your plans now?" "I'm planning to tell Wade and Haru to come over, a little reunion to be precise. What do you think?" she excitedly asked. "Hmm," I hold my chin and acts that her idea is bad. She holds my arm and pouted at me, she's so cute. No wonder we're siblings. "You don't like it?" "Did I say something?" She throws a tantrum, "Just tell me if it's good or bad!" "It's g
