A DEADLY ALLIANCE.

Raven’s point of view.

“Do we have a deal?” Ryker said, extending his hand.

I stared at his outstretched hand, but I did not take it.

“Why am I the one being selected for this? My elder sister is far stronger than I am.” I said, my voice filled with skepticism.

“I have been keeping an eye on you Raven. You have proved yourself to be a worthy wolf, on several occasions. You have proved to be the daughter of an alpha wolf, and the blood of a warrior runs in your veins. And now, the time has come for you to pay back and help your people.” Ryker said.

I met his gaze, our eyes both filled with determination. I knew Ryker did not play by the rules, yes I wanted to help him. But I have to be very sure he will not outsmart me in the end. He is quite the double-crosser.

“Fenrir has taken a lot from us. He has taken our soldiers, females, and children. And soon he will take away your father’s territory and pride. But if you become an ally, we might be able to stop him.”

“Why not wage war against him? Take the war to his doorstep when he is off guard.” I blurted out.

“We can not afford another war with Fenrir. He is an unstoppable force, we can not win him. But if we know his plans, his strengths and weaknesses... we can use that against him and ruin him from the inside.” Ryker said, his tone turning conspiratorial.

I said nothing and an uncomfortable silence lingered in the air. My eyes never left his, as I tried to think of the possible outcomes of this new and deadly alliance.

“So I ask you, Raven daughter of Ragnar, Alpha of Vixen Pack. Will you infiltrate Fenrir’s ranks? Will you become my eyes and ears in his pack?” Ryker said and stretched his hand again.

“I have my conditions,” I said, my voice as cold as ice.

“Let’s hear it,” Ryker said, his hands in his pocket.

“If I am to become your eyes and ears in Fenrir’s ranks, you will have to keep me updated on your every move. Before you even make them. You will tell me every single thing and can only set your plans into action when you have my approval,” I said, my voice steady and firm. “You will keep my parents out of this, and protect my pack with your best soldiers. If you try to double-cross me, I will castrate you with my bare claws.”

“Deal,” Ryker said, and I shook his hand.

“What will I do? And how do I go about it?” I asked.

“All you have to do is successfully step your feet in Fenrir’s territory and convince him that you are willing to become one of his own,” Ryker said.

My breath got caught in my throat and a chill went down my spine. “This is a pretty dangerous task, it is no different from a suicide mission. Fenrir is too smart, what if I am discovered?” I asked, my voice a low growl.

“Then you will have to make sure that does not happen. Do what you do best and keep this at the back of your mind: Failure is not an option .” Ryker said, his voice low and dangerous.

My gaze burned into his, and my lips curled up into a sneer. “What is in this for you?” I asked.

“I have an old score to settle with Fenrir,” Ryker hissed. “And if you succeed in this, you will be your father’s hero.

“Then consider it done,” I said, my voice low and dangerous.

“And how exactly do I grab Fenrir’s attention?” I asked, ready to begin my task.

“You will be present in his pack, make sure his guards see you as you try to infiltrate his territory. Ensure that you are dragged to Fenrir’s throne room. Whatever you do, make sure you convince him that he holds your life and has your loyalty.” Ryker said.

“And if he suspects me, or demands that I should be beheaded? What will happen?” I asked, my tone filled with skepticism.

“That is your business, Raven, you have to make sure that you are not discovered or killed,” Ryker replied.

My eyes were fixed on Ryker as he spoke.

“Once you are in his territory, you have to become one of them. Speak like them, act like them, eat like them, wash like them, and even sleep like them. Make sure you leave no room for mistakes or suspicions.” Ryker warned.

“One problem,” I said. “I can not scent like them.”

“I have that taken care of.” He said and gestured to a sack in a corner of the room.

“You have been thinking about this for quite a long time right?” I asked, my eyes on him as he ripped the sack open.

“Yes,” He said. “I have thought of everything, every word, every action, and counter plans if one of my many plans happened to fail.”

My nostrils picked up the scent of a stranger.

“This scent... it belongs to a stranger,” I said, hissing in annoyance.

“This scent is the only way you will be able to infiltrate Fenrir’s pack and successfully gain his trust. This scent should cloak your own and become your new scent.” Ryker said and handed me the fur.

I rubbed the fur on my body, letting its scent rub off on me and hide my real scent.

I felt like throwing up, this was extremely weird and uncomfortable for me.

Ryker stepped closer to me, his face in my neck. He inhaled my scent and a wide smile spread across his face.

“Very good Raven, very good. Now Fenrir will never suspect you and this is the beginning of his end.” Ryker said a smug grin on his face.

I turned and faced him, ready to begin my journey to Fenrir’s territory.

 “Wait! One more thing…”
