26. Have To Leave

There was an explosion from the direction of the firearms storage warehouse. The explosion was so loud that it knocked down several sides of the warehouse. Several officers ran towards the scene. Caterina was running in that direction when she heard the screams of a man moaning in death.

“What happened?”

“Is there an intruder?”

“He's seriously injured! Let's rush him to the infirmary!”

“Tighten the guard!” 

“Inform Mr. Bianchi about this matter!”

“Looks like the enemy is coming for us!”

All sorts of comments and questions could be heard exchanged. The atmosphere turned into complete chaos. Fortunately, only one person was injured in this incident. Caterina immediately performed first aid to stop the bleeding. The man had already lost consciousness when Caterina asked him to be rushed to the treatment room.

Caterina immediately put in an IV. She did her job very well, doing what she was supposed to do as a doctor. Her doctor's spirit was so well ingrained that she always moved very quickly to help people in need.

That's why her coworkers and friends at La Vendetta were so happy when she returned. Because she was like an angel. She was really needed there. They regret that Caterina and Leonardo's relationship was as bad as it was.

Caterina was bandaging the man's wound when Leonardo came there to make sure his men were okay. The atmosphere became very awkward when Caterina and Leonardo finally came face to face after several days of not meeting. The atmosphere became even more awkward when Leonardo's men were also awkward.

“There were no intruders after we checked around. There are no signs of a break-in, no signs of strangers entering. It looks like the explosion came from a pile of weapons in the warehouse.” Alex explained as he met Leonardo to give a report.

“Find out what caused it. If the explosion came from the warehouse, that means there will be a lot of weapons damaged by the explosion.” Leonardo said in his usual tone, cold and sharp.

“Okay.” Alex replied firmly. He turned to look at Caterina. He was actually worried that there would be a big problem when Caterina met Leonardo. Moreover, Caterina seemed to be trembling while bandaging the wound of the man she was treating. He was very sure that now Caterina was struggling hard to fight her trauma.

“It's done.” Caterina said with a trembling voice. She packed up her equipment and was about to leave the treatment room. However, her steps were immediately halted when Leonardo grabbed her arm.

Caterina was so shocked, she spontaneously threw a hard punch at Leonardo's face. The blow was so hard that Leonardo's nose was bleeding. Leonardo wiped his nose with the back of his hand. He smiled slightly after getting hit. If Caterina could hit him that hard, it meant that Caterina was fine.

It was inversely proportional to everyone who was there. They looked very surprised. They were afraid that Leonardo would vent his anger furiously. They didn't want to be the victims of that rage.

“Kate ....” Alex muttered under his breath, actually very worried.

“Next time I'll break your hand if you dare touch me!” Caterina threatened. She flailed her arms, trying to break Leonardo's grip on her left arm. However, the grip did not let go. Leonardo gripped her very hard.

“You broke my father's leg, didn't you? If you're angry with me, take your anger out on me. He has nothing to do with my problem. I'm giving you a warning: don't you ever touch my father if you want to live in peace.” Caterina made a threat. She had a sharp look in her eyes.

What could Caterina do? Leonardo was clearly no match for her. The man had power and strength. He had many men he could give orders to. If he wanted to, he could take the lives of Caterina and her father.

Leonardo looked at Caterina sharply; he sighed deeply. “I'll see you in my office after this.” He said. His command this time sounded like an irrefutable imperative. Afterward, he released his grip on Caterina's arm.

Caterina glared, then left without saying anything. She didn't care about the order at all. What right did Leonardo have to give her such an order? Did he want to do that indecent thing again? Was he not satisfied enough after ruining Caterina's life like this?

“Kate!” Alex tried to catch up with her.

“Alex, did you forget the order I gave you?” Leonardo stared intently.

Alex stopped his steps, he sighed irritably, and he was forced to go to the warehouse to check the source of the explosion and calculate the losses. He was very annoyed with Leonardo's very arbitrary attitude. No one know when he started paying more attention to Caterina. He had never been this worried before. Perhaps it was his guilt towards Caterina that made him always haunted by feelings of unease. He was afraid that Leonardo would do something bad to Caterina again.

All the members of La Vendetta used to sleep with many women. However, what Leonardo did to Caterina was absolutely unforgivable. Making love with the person she love is bliss and pleasure, but it turns into a nightmare if it's done under duress.

Alex always thought of Caterina after that terrible incident. It made him overly sympathetic.

Caterina went to her father feeling uneasy. Leonardo asked her to meet in a closed room alone. She was afraid he would rape her again, so she had to be on guard. She couldn't stay in that place any longer; they had to leave as soon as possible. To her, there was no place more dangerous than La Vendetta.

“Dad!” Caterina called out to her father in a hurry. “We have to leave tonight. No matter what happens, we have to get out of here.”
