“Ouch!” Caterina groaned as Marco pushed her into a room very roughly. It seemed that he was still very upset with Caterina after what happened last week. He was upset that the plan he had put together so carefully turned out to be completely useless. He even almost lost his sister in the battle. It was a good thing that Leonardo didn't act recklessly and finish Rossie off.
“Please unite me with my father. Whatever you want to do to me, but don't touch my father.” Caterina pleaded desperately. She was worried about her father. With Dante in his current state, he wouldn't even be able to protect himself.
“You're only a prisoner; you have no right to give orders.” Marco said sharply.
“I'm just begging, not giving orders. Please unite me with my father.” Caterina kept trying. She would not be at peace until she met her father. She only had her father in this world, so they had to take care of each other.
However, Marco did not want to hear any requests. He locked the room rudely, then left.
The room where Caterina was now was different from the previous room. She didn't even know where they were. It was dark and stuffy, with no light at all. If she was locked up for a very long time in that room, she would go crazy. Humans could not live without light.
“Damn, why do I always get bad luck? We should have landed in Australia by now.” Caterina clucked in annoyance. Why was it so hard to find peace? She didn't want this kind of life.
Caterina groped in the darkness. She tried to find an opening so she could get out. However, there was nothing she could find. The room was surrounded by concrete walls that stood firmly and without a gap. She tried to turn the doorknob, but the door would not open. She could not break the door from the inside.
Caterina was completely overcome with worry and anxiety. She did not know what Marco was doing to her father. She wouldn't forgive it if her father were to experience anything untoward.
“Open the door!” Caterina shouted and banged on the door, trying to attract attention so that someone would come to see her. However, no matter how loud and long she made noise, no one cared. No one came until she stopped because she was tired herself.
Caterina tried to pry open the keyhole with her necklace pendant in the shape of a human skull. She let the pendant break so that it could fit into the keyhole. However, her attempt failed.
“Damn.” Again, Caterina clucked in annoyance.
“I can't just stand here doing nothing.” She monologued to herself. Again, she tried to pry open the door's keyhole. Unexpectedly, this time her efforts paid off. The door opened after she tried hard enough.
Caterina looked around to make sure no one was around. When she felt that she was safe enough, she stepped out of the room. The door closed again quietly. Caterina let out a deep breath. She tried to remain calm as she walked down hallway after hallway. She hid when she heard footsteps. She searched for a way to the place where her father was locked up. However, she had no clue at all. She had no idea where her father had been taken.
As long as Caterina searched for her father, she didn't see Marco at all. It seemed that Marco had gone somewhere. Perhaps he had returned to his old base. Rossie had often said she would kill Caterina if he took her there again. Maybe that's why Marco took her to the other building.
Caterina couldn't waste any time. She had to check the rooms one by one.
“Dad, are you there?” Caterina asked in a soft voice as she knocked on the door of the room.
“Please let me out!” The voice from inside came from a woman.
Caterina sighed harshly. It turned out that it wasn't just her and her father who were captives in there. She wanted to help the woman, but it would be too much trouble. She was worried that she would lose the chance to help her father if she prioritized helping others. So, she apologized and moved on to the other room.
“Dad?” Caterina called back in a half-whisper as she knocked on the door of the other room. However, the call was answered by someone else.
Caterina continued to do the same until she heard her father's voice.
“Kate! Is that you?” Dante sounded both excited and worried.
“Dad, you calm down. I'll try to open the door.” Caterina calmed her father. She tried to open the door with the pendant of her necklace. She did it the same way as before.
The door opened after Caterina did it with great effort. The father and daughter finally met again. They embraced for a moment, releasing each other's longing and relieving their worries.
“We can't stay here for long.” Caterina reminded.
Dante agreed.
“Marco hasn't done anything yet, but I'm sure he's trying to get information out of me.” Dante said with conviction.
Caterina agreed with her father's words. Dante was La Vendetta's asset, and he was sure Marco would do all sorts of things to get information out of him. If Dante revealed the information, then their opponent was La Vendetta. If he didn't want to open up, then he would be tortured.
Footsteps could be heard approaching them. Caterina swiftly carried her father to find a hiding place.
Dante winced in pain as he was forced to walk quickly. His leg still needed treatment. He wasn't even allowed to step on his broken leg, as it would aggravate the wound.
“Dad, I'm sorry that I can't carry you. My body is still a little sore from that bastard Leo.” Caterina said with irritation. Until now she could still remember how much it hurt when Leonardo forced her to make love.
“It's okay. I apologize for being a burden to you.” Dante said with pain. He felt useless because he couldn't do anything.
“Prisoner escapes! The captive has escaped! Quickly split up and search for him! He won't be able to escape that far with his broken leg! Hurry and find him before Mr. Marco arrives!” There was a man's voice shouting in panic.
The car Ben was driving stopped when they arrived at an apartment complex. Ben made sure that they were at the right address. After being sure it was the location they were looking for, the man turned the car towards the gate until it stopped in the parking lot.Leonardo got out as soon as the car stopped. He took a small jog towards the apartment building. His heart couldn't calm down; he didn't want to be late to find Caterina. Every second and minute was precious to him. The man's long legs ran up the stairs to the fifth floor. This was because he couldn't wait for the elevator. The man's footsteps echoed. Ben and his friend do not follow Leonardo's steps; they prefer to wait for the elevator. Because they believe taking the elevator will still arrive at the top floor faster than having to climb the stairs one by one.True to Ben's expectations, he and Leonardo met on the top floor when the elevator door he was riding in opened.“Room number 37.” Ben looked for the door with the ro
“Sir, Kate's have been found. She works at a hospital in Puerto Vallarta.” A man informed Leo as he handed over several photos showing Kate treating patients in the emergency department.Leonardo Bianchi was his name. A leader of the biggest mafia organization in Mexico. He was very handsome; the lines of his face were so firm, and he had such a sharp and deadly look in his eyes.“Prepare the car; we're going there now!” Leonardo gave the order. He squeezed the photo sheet very hard. His jaw hardened; his breathing sounded heavy. It had been six months since Kate had left the base. He couldn't wait to see her again. Six months was not a short time to endure longing.Leonardo rose to his feet as the car was prepared. Together with some of his men, they sped off to the neighboring town where Kate was known to be working. Some of the cars stopped and parked haphazardly when they arrived at their destination. Their aura was dominating, especially Leonardo, who looked so scary.People ran
Leonardo stopped his steps after he heard that sentence. He turned around, looking at the man in the doctor's suit standing before him. He looked at the man carefully. Gabriel looked very handsome with soft facial lines. His eyeballs were so beautiful; his body was also quite muscular for a doctor. Leonardo felt that the man was handsome enough to be his rival.“What did you say?” Leonardo asked for confirmation.“Kate is my girlfriend; face me first if you want to take her away.” Gabriel said firmly.“Gabriel, don't mess with him. Do you know who he is? Don't sacrifice yourself for a woman who doesn't want you.” Rossie warned. That woman had liked her coworker first, but Caterina's presence there had defeated her position. She had liked Gabriel for the past two years, but Caterina had stolen Gabriel's heart since the first day she started working there.Leonardo smiled sarcastically. “So that's it, one-sided love, huh?” He said in a sarcastic and condescending tone.“Gabriel, he's no
Caterina's cries echoed throughout the room. Her trembling hands embraced the bloodied body. She hugged Gabriel tightly, trying her best to wake him up.“No, Gabriel. Come on, wake up! Open your eyes!” Caterina patted Gabriel's cheek repeatedly, trying to wake the unconscious man.Leonardo clenched his hands hard when the woman he liked hugged another man right in front of him. Not just hugging, the woman even cried for the other man.“What the hell are you doing!” Rossie approached. She pushed Caterina so roughly that her embrace on Gabriel's body slipped away. She quickly tried to administer first aid. She tried to stop the bleeding. Although she looked calm, she was actually panicking right now.“Take him to the emergency room!” Rossie ordered her other coworkers. She didn't have much time, as Gabriel had received a fatal gunshot wound.Immediately, Gabriel's weak body was brought to the emergency room.Caterina got up; she was about to follow them to the emergency room so that she
Caterina woke up with her head still feeling dizzy. She blinked repeatedly to clear her vision. She was very confused about the room she was in, as it was her first time there. The room was very spacious with expensive furniture. Even the mattress she was on was much more expensive than the usual mattress she used.Caterina looked around. All the objects there were completely foreign to her. They were all high-class items. The door opened with the presence of a maid. Caterina recognized the maid, so she understood where she was.“Lucy, why am I here? Does that bastard want me to spend my last moments in luxury before he kills me?” Caterina asked as the maid approached her with a glass of hot tea.“I don't know. He just asked me to serve you well.” Lucy answered as she was.No one knew what Leonardo's intentions were. Only he himself knew what he wanted. He didn't want to share his feelings, so he didn't want to tell everyone what his plans were.Caterina let out a deep breath and unin
Thanks to Caterina and Dante's experience in the mafia, they were able to leave the base safely. No one knew about Caterina's escape plan except Lucy. All the gatekeepers knew was that Dante had left the compound to buy stock medicine, as he was the only doctor in La Vendetta.Caterina asked her father to drive her to the hospital where she worked. She wants to make sure Gabriel survives the shot Leonardo gave him. At first Dante refused, because he was afraid that Caterina's presence there would be quickly discovered by Leonardo's other men. However, Caterina insisted, so Dante had no other choice.“Live well out there. Avoid fights with any groups. Never cause trouble for the sake of a safe life. I've sacrificed myself for your safety, so you should use your life well this time.” Dante gave his final message. It was hard for him to let go of his daughter, but he had to do it anyway.Caterina smiled faintly. She nodded, then gave him one last hug before getting out of the car. They w
Leonardo strode into Caterina's room with his heart beating wildly. He had just returned from taking care of sending a drug package out of town. The man couldn't wait to see Catrina. He inhaled roughly, trying to look his usual self. That face looked so flat and cold; a hostile aura seemed to radiate from him. When he opened the door to the room, he was left speechless. Because there was only an empty bed there. The bed looked a little messy, a sign that it had been used up and had not been tidied up. There was no beautiful figure of Caterina that he missed and craved.Leonardo looked around, finding nothing but emptiness.“Kate!” Leonardo called out. His baritone voice bounced around the room. “Are you in the bathroom?” He asked, but there was no answer.Leonardo stepped inside, his long legs guiding him steadily towards the bathroom door. When he turned the doorknob, the bathroom door opened and showed that there was no one there. His wild mind began to wander. He squeezed the doork
Marco dragged Caterina roughly towards his luxurious mansion. Caterina could only surrender; she rubbed her wrists, which looked red, because Marco's grip was quite rough. She looked around. This mansion felt more like a 'home' than Leonardo's luxurious mansion. In this mansion, there were many pieces of furniture and displays on the walls. The color of the wall paint is more vivid; there is a PS5 Pro, a billiard table, a ball, and a baseball bat. There are many games that can be played. It seemed that Marco knew how to enjoy life better than Leonardo.“You will stay here until I get bored.” Marco informed as he released his grip on Caterina's wrist.“You home!” Rossie appeared after she heard her brother's voice. The smile that was on her lips suddenly disappeared when she saw Caterina. Her gaze was so sharp, as if she was about to stab. There was an air of hostility emanating from within her. She had never liked Caterina in the slightest.“She will stay here,” Marco informed.Rossie

One punch landed directly on Alex's face when he was brought to see Leonardo. The corner of his lip instantly split and bled. He felt very painful on his face. Leonardo's power was great, so his punch had a big effect. Alex felt dizzy. He was dizzy; his vision seemed to be spinning. The disappointment on Leonardo's face was immense. He was so disappointed that the man he trusted had betrayed him. He had never felt this disappointed before. He always forgives Alex's every mistake, but not this time. Alex had made a very big mistake. Letting Caterina escape was the same as letting her face the great danger out there. He was very worried now that Caterina was no longer under his protection.“I'm very disappointed in you,” Leonardo said with indescribable feelings. His emotions were in turmoil right now.“I'm sorry, sir.” That was all Alex could say. He knew he was wrong, so he wasn't going to defend himself. Admitting mistakes is a sign that he has a big heart.Leonardo looked away; he d
“I'm sorry.” Leonardo said weakly. He had repeated the words dozens of times since then. His palms were cold; his heart was beating very fast. He was really nervous now; he had never been this nervous in his life. Even when he had to deal with enemies, he never felt nervous. However, he felt extremely nervous when he was about to meet Caterina.“I—I... love you.” Leonardo stammered. His voice was weak and trembling. The sentence sounded like a mumble; he could barely even hear the words he was saying.Leonardo squeezed his fingers repeatedly. He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. The man was impatient; he had waited there long enough.Leonardo's sigh sounded so heavy. He opened the desk drawer and took out a pack of cigarettes from there. He fiddled with the pack repeatedly, wondering whether he should smoke or not. He needed the cigarettes to calm his mind, but he was afraid because Caterina didn't like cigarette smoke. He didn't want to disappoint her by offering her someth
Dante looked confused when his daughter suddenly asked him to run away. He was unprepared, plus his leg was still recovering. He would be happy if his daughter could get out of that place safely. However, if he came with such a condition, it would only be a burden for her. He did not want to trouble his daughter.“It will be easier if you go alone. I'm fine being alone here.” Dante tried to be reassuring. He didn't want to make things difficult for his daughter. After what Caterina had been through, he didn't want to make her life more difficult.“No, I'm not leaving you here.” Caterina emphasized. She stepped towards her father's closet. She opened the drawer inside the cupboard, then put her father's pile of money, cards, and valuables into a backpack. She carried the bag on her back, then turned toward her father. He helped Dante to his feet and stepped out of the room.“The base is crowded right now because of the recent explosion. It'll be hard to get out of here without getting
There was an explosion from the direction of the firearms storage warehouse. The explosion was so loud that it knocked down several sides of the warehouse. Several officers ran towards the scene. Caterina was running in that direction when she heard the screams of a man moaning in death.“What happened?”“Is there an intruder?”“He's seriously injured! Let's rush him to the infirmary!”“Tighten the guard!” “Inform Mr. Bianchi about this matter!”“Looks like the enemy is coming for us!”All sorts of comments and questions could be heard exchanged. The atmosphere turned into complete chaos. Fortunately, only one person was injured in this incident. Caterina immediately performed first aid to stop the bleeding. The man had already lost consciousness when Caterina asked him to be rushed to the treatment room.Caterina immediately put in an IV. She did her job very well, doing what she was supposed to do as a doctor. Her doctor's spirit was so well ingrained that she always moved very qui
Three days after the incident, Caterina's physical condition had started to improve, but not her mental state. The bruises on her face also seemed to have faded. She had not seen or crossed paths with Leonardo since the incident. If Dante was fine, they would plan their escape right now. However, Dante's condition did not allow it. He had difficulty walking. If they ran away and were chased by Leonardo, they would be caught immediately. Dante didn't want to make things worse. It seems that Caterina's escape this time must be planned very carefully. If she ran away unprepared like before, she would be caught again. Not only caught by Leonardo but also by Marco.“You don't have to think about me, Kate. Just think about yourself; it's okay if you want to run away. That bastard can vent his anger on me. I just want you to be safe and start a new life.” Dante tried to convince. However, Caterina didn't want to. If she left, then her father would have to go too. There was no need for a sacr
Caterina woke up when it was already noon. The hot sunlight sneaking in through the gap in the curtains made her eyes a little dazzling. She stretched for a moment, then rubbed her eyes. She got up to sit up. When she got up, she felt her whole body ache and hurt. Now she regained consciousness and remembered what happened last night. Remembering it all, Caterina became hysterical. She was scared, sad, and extremely frustrated.“Aaaarght!” Caterina screamed at the top of her lungs. She pulled her hair very roughly, hoping that it would make all the bad memories in her head disappear. The door to the room opened after the scream was heard outside. It was not Dante who appeared from behind the door, but a maid. The woman brought food for Caterina.Caterina stared intently. She trusted no one now but her father. There was no one she could trust anymore after the man she loved so much had violently raped her.“Madam, I brought you some fish soup and tomato juice as well.” The woman approa
Caterina finally fell asleep after Dante treated her wound. There was a bigger wound depicted on Caterina's face. It was not a physical wound, but a mental wound that would never heal.Dante looked longingly at his daughter's face. His eyes were red, his chest tight. What kind of father was he to bring his daughter into such great danger?“I'm sorry, Kate.” Dante said in a hoarse, trembling voice. He rubbed his daughter's bruised face. It was still puffy, as Caterina had been crying the entire time until she fell asleep from exhaustion.Dante wrapped his arms around Caterina's body, then lovingly kissed his daughter's forehead. He felt sick when he remembered the last time he had kissed his daughter's forehead. Their time together was too short because he was too busy with work. When he realized, his daughter had grown up without affection.“I promised you that I would be a good father to you. I won't break my promise this time.” Dante said with emphasis, as if he were talking to hims
