34. Tool OF Revenge

“You're running away from Leonardo aren't you? You hate him so much, and so do I. Why don't we work together to defeat him?” Marco offered.

Caterina was silent for a moment. Her brow furrowed looking at Marco. On what basis did he think that they could defeat Leonardo? Even if they combined their strength, it would not be able to match half of Leonardo's strength. Everyone in Mexico knew how powerful La Vendetta was.

“You want me to give you information about La Vendetta? You know it's very risky. I could die if I tell you.” Caterina looked doubtful. She was not sure if they could do that.

“No. I don't need any information. I just need you and your father to join me.”

“What's your plan?” Caterina gave him a serious look.

Marco looked thoughtful. He bit his lower lip as he thought seriously. For now it seemed that he did not have any plans. It was just that he firmly believed that Caterina would be useful if she joined him.

“I don't have any plans right now. We can work out a plan while treating your father's leg. I'll be nice to you as long as you cooperate with me.” Marco tried to reassure.

Caterina took a long look. After all, Marco was Rossie's brother. Rossie hated her and wanted to kill her. She was afraid that later Marco would change his mind and suddenly finish her and her father. She didn't want to die silly here.

“Are you sure you won't finish me off? Your sister is very determined to kill me.”

“Rossie doesn't know you're here, so just relax.”

Marco's words seemed so convincing. Caterina, who initially refused to believe him, slowly became interested in Marco's offer. Moreover, the look in the man's eyes showed that he was not lying. There was nothing Caterina could catch but honesty.

“Okay.” Finally, Caterina accepted the offer that Marco gave. At least she could rest easy now. One less enemy who wants to kill her. Now it was only Leonardo that she should avoid and watch out for.

“For now you must hide from Leonardo and his men. I'm worried about you and your father's safety. I heard he was looking for you, I met him a while ago. He came to my base to wreak havoc. His gaze is very sinister, it seems he is very ambitious to finish you off.” Marco started compiling.

It seems that the man's plan is becoming clear now. He wanted to pit Caterina and Leonardo against each other. Let them try to kill each other. If one of them died, he would still benefit. It turns out that he is quite good at acting. Because, his tone of voice and facial expressions are so convincing. Caterina even really believed what he said.

Caterina nodded in agreement.

“Let me help you get inside.” Marco approached. He took Dante from Caterina's arms. He carried the man toward the luxurious building ahead. Unlike before, now he took Dante to a luxurious room. He gently laid the man's body on the bed. He did his best to make Caterina believe that his intentions were good for them.

“I'll call the doctor,” Marco said, then left the room.

Caterina just nodded. She approached her father. She stroked his forehead, which was hot and wet with sweat. She wanted to do something; she couldn't just stand by and wait for the doctor to come. because she was also a doctor.

Caterina went outside. She looked for Marco, asking him if she could have a basin of water and also a handkerchief to compress her father.

“You are now part of this organization. Ask for what you want; there are servants working here. Think of it as your own home.” Marco replied softly. He gave his permission.

Caterina felt very happy. Because Marco's treatment of her this time was completely 180 degrees different from before. His attitude was completely opposite from before.

“Thank you.” Caterina smiled slightly. Her smile was so sincere. When she smiled, a fine frown appeared at the end of her eyes.

Marco gasped. His heart suddenly beat very fast. This was the first time Caterina had smiled so sweetly at him. Was she mesmerized? The sharp-nosed man immediately looked away; he averted his eyes.

Caterina quickly left to do what she wanted. Marco stared at her back until she disappeared in the distance.

“Shit!” Marco cursed at himself. He clenched his fists because he was too emotional. How could he be mesmerized by the woman's smile. “She's just a tool for revenge.” Marco tried to emphasize to himself. He must not fall in love, because falling in love would only make one weak. He had found an example of this in his own sister.

Marco struggled with his own thoughts. He pulled his hair roughly, trying to get Caterina's sweet smile out of his mind. However, the more he tried, the more it took over his mind.

“Sir, the doctor is here.”

Hearing his men's report, Marco rose to his feet. He tried to be calm and dignified in front of his men. He approached the doctor, then gave a little emphasis.

“Make the wound on his leg worse. But, try to look like you want to treat him. He and his daughter are doctors, they'll immediately realize if you don't intend to treat. Do anything to hinder her recovery. I don't want him to recover and take his daughter away from here.” Marco said with emphasis.

“Yes, sir.” The man could only resignedly carry out the orders Marco gave.
