35. Efforts To Find Caterina

“Where did you hide Kate?” Leonardo grabbed a man by the neck. After getting no results from Marco's headquarters, he went to the headquarters of his other enemies. He had no clue where Caterina had gone and who had taken her. He was forced to approach his enemies one by one.

“I don't know.” The man replied through the pain in his neck.

“Don't lie to me; I won't hesitate to kill you if I find out you're lying to me.” Leonardo said sharply. His words and gaze were equally sharp. The more he tightened his grip on the man's neck. His ambition to kill was even greater now that he had no information about Caterina's whereabouts.

“I really don't know. I never intended to find trouble with you. What did I kidnap Kate for? That woman would be of no use to me, even if you don't want her.” The man said with difficulty. His face had turned red from lack of oxygen to breathe.

“Sir, we really don't know anything about Kate. Last we heard, you kicked her out six months ago. That's the last time we heard any information about her.” The man's men defended their boss. They were just a small organization. Their strength was far below La Vendetta; they wouldn't dare disturb Leonardo's peace in the slightest.

“That's right, sir. You know we're just a small mafia that controls this area. We don't even dare to sell drugs outside the city for fear of the police. We're different from you, so we wouldn't dare make trouble with you.” The other men chimed in.

Leonardo sighed harshly. He released his grip on the men's necks because he felt that they were not lying. It was true as the man said; they were just a small mafia group that only dared to make trouble in a small neighborhood in his city. Not like Leonardo, who had taken over almost the entire country of Mexico.

“I thought I was going to die.” The man breathed out with relief. He inhaled a lot of oxygen to fill the lack of oxygen in his lungs. His neck looked reddened, Leonardo's strangulation marks clearly depicted on his neck.

Leonardo turned his head to stare sharply.

“Sorry, sorry, sir.” The man bowed repeatedly, begging for mercy out of extreme fear. Even with just one glance, Leonardo had managed to make his guts shrink.

“We're looking for Kate's whereabouts. If you find her, contact us immediately. If you find even the slightest information about her, we will remove your name from the enemy list.” Ben gave the group boss a picture of Caterina. He was really doing his best to help find Caterina. Because he wanted to take Alex's place in Leonardo's eyes. He wanted to be Leonardo's confidant.

“Okay. We'll help however we can.” The man received Caterina's photo sheet with trembling hands.

“Let's go somewhere else.” Leonardo said coldly and sharply. He walked away, followed by Ben and his mans. After Leonardo left, the frightening and terrifying aura instantly disappeared. The lower-class mafia members could finally breathe freely.

Leonardo walked towards his Maybach.

“Alex, has there been any news from the other team?” Leonardo asked as he opened the car door.

Ben looked awkward when he heard Alex's name mentioned. It was natural that Leonardo had become very dependent on Alex, because the man had accompanied him for the past 4 years. Alex was with him all day long.

“Sorry, sir, there's no Alex here. Didn't you ask for him to be locked up like the other hostages?” Ben cautiously reminded. He was afraid his words would offend Leonardo.

Leonardo sighed harshly. Hearing that sentence, his resentment grew as he remembered what Alex had done. He had considered Alex as his younger brother, but instead he got betrayal. If not for Alex's help, Caterina would not have been able to escape from the base. They wouldn't have had to go to such lengths to find her. He wouldn't be this worried about Caterina's whereabouts. Nor would he be this disappointed in his confidant.

“Has there been any news from the other team?” Leonardo repeated his question, but this time in a different tone. There was so much weight in his tone.

“Not yet, sir. I'll get back to you as soon as we get a report.” Ben replied.

“Let's look elsewhere.” Leonardo gave the order, more assertive this time.

Ben nodded, and he began to drive the car at high speed to look for Caterina's whereabouts elsewhere. It was getting late, and they hadn't rested since morning. They hadn't even eaten at all; even breakfast this morning was only half a portion.

The sound of rumbling from the stomach of one of his men made Leonardo turn his head. It reminded him of Caterina that time. Caterina was also starving when he brought her home.

'Has she eaten?

'Can she sleep peacefully?

'Is she okay?'

There were many questions that occupied Leonardo's heart and mind now. Now he truly realized and understood his feelings for Caterina. If he had the chance to see Caterina again, he would express his heart. He will not miss his chance to say his love. When Caterina was no longer by his side, he was made to realize how important she was to him.

“I'm sorry, sir. I haven't had breakfast since morning, so I'm a little hungry.” The man said with fear at the look Leonardo gave him. He thought Leonardo was angry with him for the sound of his stomach.

Again, Leonardo sighed harshly.

“Let's go find a restaurant to eat.”
