Chapter 3

The person who cared about the house the most was Quinn's brother, Hugo. He was immediately enraged as he ran toward Evan.

"This house is mine. It has nothing to do with a good-for-nothing like you!"

Hugo had just found himself a girlfriend who requested that he buy a house in the city center before she was willing to marry him. If he lost this house, it would be difficult for him to find a quality woman with looks like his.

Anyone who wanted to take this house away from him would be killing him!

Hugo had always looked down on the good-for-nothing, Evan.

Before he was done talking, Hugo swung a punch at Evan. Even though Hugo had never trained in fighting before, he had a huge physique, which helped with swinging a heavy punch.

If that punch landed on Evan, it would hurt him bad enough to be hospitalized for two days.

Evan easily countered that big impact, and all he did was reach his finger.

Hugo had swung that punch with everything he had, only to feel himself hitting something as hard as a rock. His bones cracked instantly. He could not push his punch any further.

It hurt Hugo so much that he fell kneeling to the ground while hugging his fist in great pain.

"How dare you try to hit me? Who gave you the courage to do that?"

Hugo knelt on the ground, almost crying in pain.

"Mom, help me. Help me!"

"Let him go, Evan! I'll fight it out with you!"

Laura came clawing at Evan.

Evan did not hit women, but he did hit the scum of the world.

With a loud bang, Laura fell backward from his kick. She coughed up blood. The arrogant old woman was left with fear on her face. Even then, Laura refused to give in. Her fear turned into viciousness.

"I've already called my son-in-law, Evan. If you dare touch me, he'll make sure that you pay back for it a hundred times more! You have no idea how powerful the Watersons are!"

"I have no idea?"

Evan threw her a pitiful look. If he wanted it, not only would that adulterous pair be destroyed, but even the family behind them would be wiped off from this world!

"They're here! My son-in-law must be here with help! That was fast!" Laura said agitatedly.

"You're dead, Evan!" Hugo roared with hate.

Evan frowned and looked up. He saw figures appear at the door.

However, it was not Sean nor muscular bodyguards.

It was a woman in a long, purple dress. Her face was exquisite, and she was as beautiful as Quinn, maybe even prettier than she was. However, she had a cold demeanor, and her expression was extremely chilly. There was something about her that warned others to keep a distance.

"I'm Deidre from the Nolans. Greetings, Your Excellency!"

"The Nolans?!" Laura had just been yelling haughtily, but she fell limp to the floor when she heard the name. Her expression was frozen in fear as if she had just seen a ghost.

The Nolans were the most powerful family in Pine City, and Deidre was the eldest daughter of the Nolans!

Quinn had acquainted herself with the Watersons. However, they were nothing compared to the Nolans. They could be killed at any time like an ant. That was how powerful the Nolans were.

Yet, Deidre was referring to Evan as 'Your Excellency'?!

Laura quickly removed that thought from her mind. Evan could never know someone as powerful as Deidre.

Deidre must have been invited to the house by Sean. In the eyes of common folk like Laura, Sean could do anything.

"You must have been invited here by Sean. I'm his mother-in-law." Laura stood up and approached Deidre. She pointed angrily at Evan. "That's him, the good-for-nothing who offended me. You should kill him! He deserves to die! I want him to never stand again!"

The beautiful Deidre was taken aback as she frowned slightly.

"Who are you? Why did you just call Mr. Carlton a good-for-nothing?"

She waved her exquisite hand in the air, and dozens of armed muscled men immediately rushed in from behind.

"Throw them out of here!"

She turned and said to the man in front of her with her eyes lowered, "Do you need me to finish them off? I promise you won't get into any trouble. The Nolans need your help. Please, Your Excellency."

Evan gave a wave of his hand as he felt he had no other choice.

He glanced coldly at the two and said calmly, "Transfer the money to me and get out. Think about the consequences you'll face if you come into this house again."

After that, he turned to Deidre.

"Let's go."
