"Come out for dinner, Ruby."

Quinn pushed the bedroom door open that night but found it empty. Her daughter was gone. She panicked instantly and ran to the living room. "Mom, Hugo, where's Ruby?"

"Isn't she in the room?"

"She's not in there."

"Did that wretched girl sneak out of the house?"

Quinn looked anxious. "Haven't you both been at home? Don't you know if she ran out?"

Laura averted her eyes. "I went out for a facial just now. My face was swollen after Evan hit me. I had to get a facial in case I was disfigured."

Hugo stammered, "I-I went out to see my girlfriend. I have no idea what happened."

"Why didn't you get someone to watch her if both of you weren't around?" Quinn was almost crying in panic. "She's still so young. What if she gets caught by bad people?"

Laura tried comforting her, "Don't panic. Our family has so many connections. We can find her as long as she's still in Harken Bay. Don't worry. Nothing will happen to her."
