Chapter 1

"Congratulations to Quinn Langdon and Sean Waterson on their wedding day!"

Inside the most luxurious hotel of River City, a beautiful woman in a wedding dress was smiling to express her gratitude. The man next to her looked quite charming in his suit.

All of the seated guests were from influential families from River City. It was clear that the bride and groom were esteemed personalities.

While everyone was celebrating the moment, a security guard ran up the stage in a panic and said something to both of them, "We have a problem! Ms. Langdon, a disheveled homeless man is trying to barge in here. He claims to be your…"

The security guard glanced fearfully at Sean as he hesitated to finish the sentence.

Quinn shook her head to indicate it was fine. That was when the security guard spoke up.

"He claims to be your husband. He even has a marriage certificate with him… I've seen it. It really has your…"

There was an official stamp on it. It could not be fake.

Sean was not angry at this. He was relieved instead and replied with condescension in his tone, "I was wondering who it could be. It's that useless husband of yours. This is a great opportunity to show him to everyone and humiliate him. Otherwise, he'll never learn!"

Sean sniggered while Quinn looked unhappy.

"Let him in!"

It was not long before a man in a deliveryman's uniform barged in angrily while all of the guests stared at him in shock.

There was a fire in his eyes as he looked around at the wedding decorations in the hall.

"Quinn Langdon, what are you doing?!"

The man went forward to grab Quinn's wedding dress and pulled hard on it.

"We've been married for four years. You're my legal wife. Even if things aren't going well between us, we're not divorced yet! How can you get married again so quickly?!"

This man was Evan Carlton. He saved Quinn five years ago by chance when she was a university student, and that was how they got to know each other. They fell in love as time passed.

Evan was considered successful back then. The company he built from the ground up did very well, and he had a happy married life with Quinn.

However, their happiness did not last. His company started facing problems, and it was close to going bankrupt. Evan had no choice but to become a deliveryman to earn a living.

While on a delivery run today, he heard from other deliverymen that River City's biggest hotel had been booked for a wedding. Everyone was astonished with how lavish the wedding was, and Evan overheard the name of the bride. It was his wife, Quinn.

It could have been someone else with the same name, but he still left his work behind to rush to the hotel. He did not expect that it was not a coincidence at all!

"You're cheating on me!" Evan shouted at her.

"What do you mean 'cheating'? You're the one who's a good-for-nothing!" Quinn slapped his hand away and said with disdain.

"You're nothing now. How do you expect to take care of me when you have no money? You can't even earn enough to take care of your daughter. Why must I be with a useless man like you when I'm still young and beautiful? It's a waste of my youth!"

"I can't take care of you?"

Evan looked at the woman who had been with him for four years in disbelief. He never expected she would say something like that to him.

"Look at what you're wearing. Just accept the truth. You're no longer a CEO of a company now. You're just a lousy deliveryman."

The man next to Quinn grunted coldly and came forward. He grabbed Evan by the collar and pointed at his deliveryman uniform to insult him.

That was when Evan saw who the groom really was. He used to be the vice president of Evan's company. It was his former subordinate, Sean!

There was a commotion among the guests.

"Isn't that the former CEO of Scorch International? How did he end up becoming a deliveryman?"

"I can't believe he's pointing fingers at someone else when he can't even take care of his wife and daughter."

"Scorch International went bankrupt because of his stubbornness. He deserves to end up this way!"

Evan was supposed to be the one seeking justice for catching the adulterous pair getting married, but he ended up being ostracized by the public instead. It now looked like the couple getting married were the ones in the right.

Everyone thought that they should stay away from the scumbag who was Even.

Bloody veins popped in Evan's eyes.

He did not care about the opinions of the guests and bystanders. All he cared about was Quinn!

Evan did not expect this…

"Quinn, you can say anything you want about me, but how can you accuse me of not taking care of you?"

He clenched his fists. There was disappointment in his eyes.

"When my company went under, you insisted that I shouldn't sell the car and house to pay for my debts. So, I transferred them over to your name. That house is in Lush Riviera, and that car is worth millions!

"I even gave you my remaining savings, which are hundreds of thousands. How can you say I can't afford to take care of my daughter?!"

"Stop trying to turn this against me!" Quinn put up a pitiful act and leaned into Sean's arms.

"Those belonged to me from the very start. You wanted to take the house from me and even left our daughter behind with me. You were the one who broke this family apart! I'll never hand over everything to you—not when you don't care about me and our daughter!"

The beautiful Quinn sobbed as she spoke. She looked extremely pitiful.

It only fueled the crowd's anger.

"What kind of man is he? He's a dirtbag!"

"I feel so bad for Quinn. It wasn't easy for her to finally leave that useless husband of hers. I can't believe he would ruin such an important day like her wedding."

"He sold fake and inferior products that caused numerous children to get cerebral palsy. Now, he's sucking his wife and daughter dry like a leech. How can such a person exist in this world?"

"You!"

Evan was enraged. He never thought that Quinn was capable of slander!

Sean suddenly stepped forward with a smile and leaned close to Evan's ear.

"Mr. Carlton, not only have you lost your company, but your wife and daughter are mine now. Your daughter is gonna call me 'Dad'!"

"Sean Waterson!" Evan punched him in the face.

Sean continued sniggering despite bleeding at the lips. He mouthed the words 'good-for-nothing' at Evan.

Everything seemed to come together for Evan.

No wonder his company's product data was leaked. No wonder the products in the market turned out problematic. No wonder the company secrets known only to Evan were leaked.

Sean had worked with Quinn to gradually destroy Evan!

They did not even leave him the house and the car. They wanted his reputation completely ruined and kicked him out of River City!

Evan took a deep breath and stared at everyone present.

Before Scorch International went bankrupt, everyone wanted to get on his good side and curry favor with him. His wife was virtuous and loving, but now…

Evan finally saw the truth!

"I'll ask you just this once, Quinn. Is this your final decision?"

Quinn felt that Evan was refusing to let her go when she heard the question. She did not bother putting up an act any longer as she looked at him with great disgust with her beautiful eyes.

"Get a grip of yourself. Sean is who I belong with. You're just a lousy deliveryman. You're not good enough for me. If it weren't for your company, I would've gotten together with Sean long ago!"

"Fine!"

The love in Evan's eyes vanished. He was extremely disappointed in Quinn.

He looked deeply at her before suddenly saying, "I want Ruby. She's my daughter! You're not good enough to be her mother!"

Sean laughed when he heard this.

He laughed harder and harder. He laughed so hard that he was clutching his stomach and crying from it.

"Do you really think she's your daughter? She's my biological daughter with Quinn! Do you think you're good enough to take care of her? Haha! You don't even know that you've been taking care of my daughter all these years. You're really useless, aren't you?!"

"What?!"

Evan's eyes turned red.

He roared, "Is he telling the truth, Quinn?"

"Hmph. What do you think? Did you think I'd ever make a baby with you? Dream on!"

Evan coughed up blood after receiving two huge blows in a day. He wished fervently that he could kill this adulterous pair.

"Security, drag him out of here!" Sean immediately gave the order when he saw Evan about to get physical.

Dozens of security guards showed up to stop Evan and drag him out.

"Oh, by the way…"

Quinn suddenly spoke up while reaching out for a document handed to her by a subordinate. She flung it at Evan's feet with a look of disdain in her pretty eyes.

"This is our divorce agreement. Sign it quickly. I don't want to see you again. You're nothing but bad luck!"

Evan clenched his teeth as he stared at the woman he had loved deeply for years. She turned her back against him just like that.

Something broke inside him as the things he held dear were suddenly shattered.

He had hidden his real identity for years, all for what?

Evan had built a huge company with his own hands in River City. He, whose net worth used to be more than a billion, suddenly fell limp for the first time in his life. His expression looked extremely shaken.

That was when the phone on his waist suddenly rang. A red light that was almost undetectable was suddenly seen between Quinn's eyes.

Evan struggled out of the security guards' grips. None of them could stop him as he pushed them aside with ease.

He quickly picked up his phone with a cold look on his face.

"Boss, we've locked in on the woman. All I need is an order from you, and I'll kill her right away."

The voice on the other end of the phone was cold. It sounded like all life was no better than weed in his eyes.

"Stop!" Evan said coldly.

"Boss, she cheated on you! How can you accept this adulterous pair getting married so lavishly right in front of you? Even I can't take it!"

"If you still treat me as your boss, stop what you're doing!" Evan ordered coldly.

"Alright."

The voice on the other end went silent, and the red light slowly vanished.

Evan was relieved. He gave a troubled look at this former love on the stage. It was not that he did not hate her, but it was not worth wasting a bullet to kill someone like her.

He would let them reap what they sowed today. There would come a day when they would need to pay for their sins.

Evan stood up and left.

On the street outside the hotel, Evan stopped not long after walking out.

He sighed helplessly as he watched an old man hurriedly get out of a luxurious car. He said to the old man coldly, "All of you found out about it too?"

"Mr. Carlton, you know that your father has always been concerned about you," the old man in the suit said respectfully with his head lowered.

"I don't need fake concern from him."

Evan looked upset when he heard the old man's words.

"Mr. Carlton, what's so great about that woman? I can find you a few hundred of them if you want. If you're willing to come back with me, you can have any woman you want…"

"Shut up. What exactly do you want? Get lost if there's nothing important!"

Evan was impatient and interrupted the old man.

"Mr. Carlton, something happened with the Nolans. It's critical. No one but you can settle the problem," the old man said in a lowered voice.

"This is the last time. I can help to settle this, but I don't want to see you again after that! Also, stop trying to collect any information about both of us!"

Evan's attitude was even colder than when he was at the wedding.

"I no longer have anything to do with him!"

"Understood."

Evan turned away after hearing the old man's answer. He stopped a cab and turned back to say one last thing, "Go look for the Nolans and tell them to come see me where I live. I'm going back to get something."

"Yes, Mr. Carlton," the old man replied with his head still lowered.

"Take me to Lush Riviera."

Evan was still feeling angry when he gave the cab driver directions.

The cab driver was astonished about what he had just seen.

This young man was wearing a deliveryman's uniform, but a dapper-looking old man in a million-dollar car was being respectful to him.

He had to secretly be a young heir.

Were all young heirs now working as deliverymen?

The cab driver sighed as he drove away.

Outside the door of No. 1, Lush Riviera, Evan took a deep breath.

It had been quite a while since he came back here. He had been focusing on his delivery work since his company went bankrupt to sustain finances at home.

This house was now under Quinn's name. However, everything he owned was still there.

Even though Evan had made the decision to have nothing to do with this woman ever again, he still had to take his things with him.

When he pushed the door open, Evan was taken aback by what he saw.
