"Let me tell you a secret," Lila said as they sat with their backs to the counter that separated them from the bartender.

"A secret?" Levi replied, glancing at her before focusing on the moving bodies on the dance floor.

"Yes, it's a secret," she nodded.

"Well, I guess I'll be honoured to hear it then," he said, still trying to control his gaze from wandering to her.

"I hate nightclubs," she declared as if it were a top secret. "The blinding lights, the excessive drinking, the sweaty bodies rubbing against each other." She paused as if she were counting off a list. " All of it, I hate it," she finished.

"That is no secret to me; I mean, considering how uptight you are, this is not a surprise," he said and she glared at him.

"You are calling me upright."

"Because you are," he said, pressing his lips together. "I understand though; the club isn't really a place I like to be either," he said and that caused her to gasp.

"But you're a social butterfly," she muttered and he nodded.

"It's just too noisy for me to handle. I prefer a nice bar with low classic music and just a few people here or there," he said and she agreed with him.

"I guess that is one thing we have in common, a nice bar and not a club," she said as she nodded.

She felt her head get lighter than usual, and she instantly knew that the shots she had taken were kicking in. She pressed her eyes together to try to delay the effect, but she knew it was useless.

"Where are the other places you prefer to a bar?" He asked.

She opened her eyes and stared at him. She understood what he had said; after all, she was not fully drunk yet. She opened her mouth to speak, but instead of words to get out her mouth, a little giggle escaped her mouth.

"Did you just laugh?" He asked confused, and that was her response. "Did I say anything funny?" He asked, and she shook her head, followed by a giggle.

Levi looked at her intently. "You are drunk," he pointed out, and she shook her head.

"I'm not that lightweight; maybe a little tipsy, but drunk is a bit of an overstretch," she said, slurring each word and taking her time.

"An overstretch? You can't even string a sentence together," he said, standing up. He took out his wallet and pulled out a card, sliding it to the bartender, who quickly processed their payment. He turned to her and shook her body. "It's time to return to our room," he announced.

She threw her head back and giggled; she held her hand over her mouth and giggled again. It was like she was thrown into an endless comedy show. "The night is just beginning; how can we end it already?" She asked, but her words were incoherent.

"But you are drunk, and being outside when drunk is not something you'd want," he said. He did not know what her drunken habit might be, and he was not sure he wanted to find it out that night.

"I can control myself," she replied, closing her eyes and snapping her fingers in her face. She took a deep breath, and her eyes snapped open. She stood up and staggered, putting her hand from side to side. "See?" She said she was trying to ignore the fact that she would have been on the floor a moment ago.

"I have no idea what it is you are trying to prove to me, but all I see is a drunk woman." His face was straight as he spoke.

She blew her lips in his face, and the smell of the shots she drank filled his face. "You are no fun," she said and then turned to the dance floor.

"What are you doing?" He asked as she kicked off her shoes. She was so glad that she had decided to wear flats even when her sisters had hammered that a heel would be the best thing for an outing like that.

"How can you come to a club and not dance to the good music?" She asked.

Before Levi could express his thoughts, she was off into the middle of the dance floor; a few moments later, he saw her on the table. He laughed lightly at himself. He could not believe that she was as flexible and could dance well.

She swayed to the music and was on the beat even though she was drunk. Levi could not take his eyes off her. He convinced himself that he was looking at her so she did not cause any trouble.

She suddenly slid off the table and marched to him. She took him by his hand and pulled him to the dance floor.

"You look like a killjoy," she whispered into his ears, and his eyes grew wide with wonder at her. "Let's dance together," she muttered as she turned and began to dance so seductively, grinding her waist against him.

He wanted to pull away, but it was not supposed to be strange—a wife grinding against her husband. He let himself go and just danced along. He could feel it; he wondered if it was the same for her—the tension between them.

Lila turned to him and laughed before pulling him off the dance floor. She was panting as if she had run a marathon. "That's enough dancing for today," she said casually, still holding his hand. "Should we head back to the room?" He asked, and she nodded. "I think we have enough experience for ourselves and the paparazzi." "Wait here," he said, and before she could ask him why he was out of sight. She clutched her bag tightly as she looked down at her feet to realize her shoes were still gone. She hoped that Levi had gone to get the shoes for her because they were a pair she really liked. Levi approached the bartender and bought a bottle of water before sighting Lila's shoes still in the same place she had kicked them off. He picked them up, smiling from ear to ear for no reason, before happily going to meet her. "Why not dance with me?" A man asked. He looked up and saw the man close to Lila. He was so close that there was barely any space for her to escape. He was big and towe

Lila groaned in bed as she shifted from side to side. She looked around as she tried to process where she was. She blinked and memories flooded her mind, beginning from when she had agreed to marry Levi to how drunk she was yesterday. She remembered every small detail that happened yesterday and was grateful that she had not embarrassed herself while drunk last night. She sat up in bed and something on the nightstand caught her eye.She picked up the sticky note and a card of hangover pills fell out; she read it and a smile unknowingly climbed her face. 'I have important business to take care of this morning; there is something to eat on the table and this is something for your hangover. Take Care'She smiled but then a frown took over on her face. She could not believe that he was caring for her while running to that woman from the other day. "Why doesn't he just stay with her instead of shuffling back and forth between us?" she murmured as she crumbled the paper in hand and threw it

Lila sighed when she got her mom's call. Levi was back in the room and her mom was demanding to get dinner with both of them before she left. Lila knew that it was going to be uncomfortable for her to sit through dinner with her mom constantly throwing jabs at her in front of Levi. She knew Levi might have been going through the same with his parents but still, it was a bit embarrassing for her to show him that side of her."Wasn't there any other thing to wear out?" Eleanor asked immediately, and they sat. Lila rolled her eyes as she tried to control the anger she felt from knowing that her mother was going to say worse. She looked down at her dress; she had been satisfied by the clothes she picked out before she left the room but no, her mother's tone was making her doubt herself. "You are in the eye of the public constantly; why don't you stick to wearing designer brands? Do you want me to send you a personal stylist?" she asked. If she wasn't her mother, she would have pegged her

Lila had gotten to know that the island was hosting a party and since she had nothing else to do, she decided to go to the party. "I thought Levi was going to show up in style and stun the crowd, but it seems like I was wrong," Jasmine murmured. Lila had tried to act as if his not showing up was not having an effect on her, but how could it not? He was going to make rumours brew, and that was a disadvantage for them both."You see why I do not like him? He always does things how he pleases. I am here putting on a great show and he is nowhere to be found," she muttered angrily in response. She had been trying her best all night not to get drunk, and she feared that if she drank all of the contents in the glass in her hand, she might be dirty dancing on the dance floor to classic music again."Call him up again; maybe something happened." Lila wished something happened to him; that had to be the only explanation for why he had ghosted like this. "Maybe he got hit by a bus or is having a bad day with stomach troubles.""Sounds like you would wish that for him," Lila murmured, a smile climbing her lips as she though

As soon as she pulled away from Marcus, she excused herself and ignored Levi. He had to know that what he had done had consequences. She did not care if he was frolicking around with that woman he had met or not; he should know that he had to keep his decency and appear as the perfect husband, at least for the year they were together. She was glad that the crowd in the room helped her keep him away from her all night. "Since we are friends and we are going all out, I think it would be nice for us to do some of the things on this list," Lila said, taking out a folded paper from her wallet and handing it over to him."What is this?""A list created by my cousins and sisters for my honeymoon," she replied. She knew that her sisters and cousins had created a teasing prank for her, but since they needed activities to keep busy and they wanted to look like a real coup, what other things would they need other than something like that?"Oh, I see, and you want us to do the things on this list?" he asked, and she nodded."We can have fun while still portraying the in-love couple for the media," she replied. He did not see anything wrong with her suggestion, so he agreed."I think the first thing for the day should be breakfast.""I agree," she said, and they decided to go down for breakfast. Lila gets to the private beach house but is stunned by the scene she meets. There is an arrangement of rose petals into the words 'I'M SORRY'. She is quite impressed and also shocked that Levi was capable of pulling something like that just to apologise. When she had decided to come there, she was not sure what to expect. However, standing there with Levi on the other side of the petal, arranging words, she felt her anger melt away. It was kind of cute and thoughtful for him to think of apologising in this way. She followed him with her eyes as he walked to her with a bouquet of yellow roses. He stood in front of her and pointed the bouquet at her. She did not know what to do or how to react, but she had never thought of turning down pretty flowers so she took them from him."Lila Carrington, I want to apologise," he began. She decided to finally listen to whatever excuse he had to bring up. She nodded, expecting more from him. "The truth is that though I am not in the country, I have
