Chapter 97

Jaxon’s POV

Searing pain on my wrist makes me shoot up in the bed. "Fuck," I hiss, scrambling to find the brass key on the dresser. Unlocking the bracelet, it clatters on the dresser loudly, stirring Melanie. Thankfully, she just turns over and continues snoring softly. She's so cute and peaceful when she's asleep, and it's magnified by a million when she's doing it in my bed.

The skin of my wrist is bubbling, bleeding, and blackening where the silver was. It's excruciatingly painful, but over the years, I've grown used to this. There were times when Damon left cuffs around my wrists and ankles for two-three days at a time to the point where the skin melted all the way down to the bone. He would still force me to train no matter how much pain I was in.

I can feel Shadow's fury, but he doesn't say anything.

After taking a shower and cleaning the wound, I wrap gauze around my wrist. I know Melanie would freak if she saw it, but I'm sure it will heal by the end of the day.
