A palpable tension filled the operating room, and at that moment, no one dared to speak.

"What the hell is going on?" Xavier growled. "Have you all been bought off by her, too? Are you still lying to me?"

With trembling hands, he searched my body again and again. Yet, no matter how hard he looked, he couldn't find the other kidney.
