Xavier's expression hardened instantly. Before he could say a word, Tobias cut in with a mocking laugh.

"Am I hearing this right?" He sneered. "Mom, aren't you a little too old to be pulling stunts like this? Dramatically demanding a divorce? Don't you think it's embarrassing? You're practically at death's door!

"And just so we're clear. If it comes to that, I'm on Dad's side. Don't count on me being there for your final hour."

Xavier's gaze flickered, his expression giving nothing away as he added, "Divorce is fine, but you'll have to donate your kidney to Queenie first."

The absurdity of his demand sent a chill down my spine. "Xavier, my body can't handle a kidney transplant! If you don't believe me, go ask any hospital. No doctor would risk an operation doomed to fail. It's their career at stake!"
