CHAPTER FOUR

CHAPTER FOUR

I was awoken by the flickers of light that seeped in from the small patches and blinded my eyes forcing me to squint as I opened my eyes slowly. I sat up immediately and looked around the small tent I had made with leaves and sticks I had collected from the forest. I was late for my morning training.

It's been a few weeks since I had been in the forest and I had learnt to make the forest my home.

  I had created a routine for my morning trainings which I never missed, I was determined to train myself to the top and acquire as much power as I could, all the people that had betrayed me would surely pay for everything they had done to me.

  So far I had made a lot of progress and I was really happy with the progress I had made. I found out I could now do the things I was not able to do while I was in the pack house, I noticed some improvements on my speed, I had also improved in my shape shifting abilities and I could now control my transformation. I had fought a few wild animals and a couple of werewolves in woods and I was happy with my improvement. I was no longer that weakling they all thought me to be back at the pack house.

 I could not help but wonder if it had really been the claw that was placed under my bed, perhaps it really had the powers they claimed it had.

It had been two months since I was banished from the pack house, and two months since I had met the handsome stranger in the woods. I wondered where he was right now. And more than ever I wondered what Theodore and Lina could be up to, they were both traitors, they betrayed me. They would all pay for it.

  I lifted myself up from the small bed I had made with leaves and a few of my clothings. I had to go hunting for animals to feed on. I immediately put on my mask and and took my leave.

  That whole day was frustrating for me and tiring too since I could not find a single animal to catch, I had never had an experience like that in the past, I wondered what could have gone wrong on this particular day, had all the animals decided to go on a break on this particular day? I surfed the forest till it was evening, then I decided to sit somewhere, under one of the trees and rest my back feeling frustrated as ever.

  Just as I was sitting there and taking some rest, I felt slow movements behind me, I felt the dry leaves behind me ruffling like someone had stepped on them.

  Immediately putting on my defense, I stood up and turned around. But there was nobody behind me, I thought probably a reptile might have moved.

  I went back to my sitting position and decided to take a nap, I had started to dose off when I heard the same movements again, this time around I was certain I had heard movements behind me, I stood up immediately and pulled out my dagger from under my shoes. Who dared try to lay an ambush on me?

  I turned around and started walking slowly towards the part where I had heard the sound. Surprisingly, I did not see anyone as usual. But I was sure someone was trying to lay an ambush on me. So I kept walking, dagger in hand, getting ready to strike anybody or anything I found, I was thinking of what the handsome stranger I had seen the previous night said about enemies.

  Suddenly, I heard slow footsteps behind me, I tried to turn around and attack whoever it was that was trailing me but it was already too late since he already had me by the throat, I felt sharp cold claws scratch my neck causing me to breath rapidly.

  I stood still immediately, fearing that any little movement from me and my neck would be ripped into a thousand pieces, I did not want that for myself, I was yet to take revenge on the people that had hurt me, I could not just let myself get killed like that.

  "You think you are so smart huh!" I heard a voice from behind, I tried to turn around but I was immediately kept in place when the strong hand wrapped around my neck even more tightly.

  "Who are you?" I wanted to ask but I immediately held back my words, he might kill me if I opened my mouth to talk, I needed to be more calculative in dealing with this enemy.

  "Now drop your weapon" he said into my ear.

  I decided to cooperate with him, I did not know how dangerous this enemy was, and I did not want to test him.

  I let the dagger fall from my hand, and let him slowly lead me, although I had no idea where he was leading me to.

  When I finally felt he had been distracted enough, I decided to strike.

  Using my claws, I immediately cut across his stomach, causing him to scream in pain and finally letting go of my neck. He immediately charged at me, but I was quick to defend myself.

  We fought for what seemed like a long time before he finally went still, I tried as much as I could to see his face as he stood still staring at something behind me. I was tempted to look back to check what he was possibly looking at behind me, but at the same time I could not help but think that he intentionally wanted to distract me before he would strike, I had met many who used that same scoop on me, I was wiser now.

  But suddenly I saw something that looked like fear in his eyes, was he scared? But what could he possibly be scared of? Definitely it was not me.

  I was still trying to figure out what could be so scary behind me that could stir that kind of reaction from him when he slowly turned around and leapt away.

  Finally realizing that he was not really trying to distract me after all, I slowly turned around to see for myself.

  I was surprised to see a shadow walking towards me from the darkness, I felt an aura around this person that made me almost want to run away myself, but because I had learnt more self confidence within my short stay in the forest. So I stood my ground even though I was shaking in fear as he took even more steps towards me.
