Chapter 10

Luca felt his phone vibrate in his pocket indicating a call. He pulled it from his pocket and checked the caller ID, seeing that it's from Marcus, his expression turned serious. Marcus hardly calls unless it's an emergency.

"Excuse me, I'll be right back" He said to Alexandra as he walked to a more quiet part of the club.

"What's wrong?" He said as soon as he answered the call.

"We need to head out now, just received word from our spy that Elias sent his men to the club for an ambush" Marcus's tense voice said through the speaker.

Before Luca could say a word, a sudden round of gunshots fired into the air causing havoc and chaos in the club. The people in the club ran in different directions trying to protect themselves, shoving over weak people and trampling on them.

Luca forced himself through the crowd of panicked people, his eyes focused on looking for Alexandra. He held the butt of his gun in his hand, aiming it to shoot at a rival that was on the top floor.

He went upstairs to where the dead man was and collected his gun. Checking the man's pulse,he noticed that he was still alive. Making a call to one of his men,he tapped his feet on the ground impatiently.

"Come up to the second floor, there is an injured man here. Take him to the base and try to keep him alive." He said into the phone before hanging up not waiting for a response.

His hawk-like eyes scanned the club trying to make out Alexandra's figure in the crowd of people. He finally saw her hurdled up under a table with some other people. Relief washed over him as he saw that she was safe. Walking over to where she was,he guided them outside while holding Alexandra's hands in a firm but gentle grasp.

"Are you okay?" He asked once they were in the private parking lot. The distant sound of people shouting as they ran reached their ears from there.

Alexandra's hand trembled slightly as she tried to calm her racing heart. "What just happened there?"

She leaned over a nearby car as she tried to catch her breath and then she remembered Aurora. "Aurora,my friend" She said in a rushed breath. "I think she's still in there, I'm going to go find her"

Luca pulled her closer as she tried to run, preventing her from moving. "Stop! You'll get yourself killed. I'll send someone to go look for your friend but it's better to stay safe yourself"

Alexandra stared at Luca, her eyes darting from his left eyes to the right. " You don't even know what she looks like, what if she was shot?" She asked, her voice filled with worry.

Luca held her forearm pressing her against the car. "I'll find your friend, trust me" He said. "For now you need to take care of yourself first, you must be very tired"

"Didn't you advise me that it's stupid to trust strangers?" Alexandra asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She craned her neck to get a look of his face but the limited light made it impossible.

Luca released a deep, amused chuckle at her words. Turning his head to the side as though in thought,he said. "But we are not strangers anymore" his expression slowly turned serious before he continued. "yeah, you shouldn't trust me either but I'll not hurt"

Something about the way he said it made her slightly relaxed. She knew it was stupid to trust a complete stranger, who she had found with a gunshot wound months ago. Holding her hands firmly in his,he guided her to a car and opened the passenger side door for her.

"You must be very tired," he said in a low voice, buckling her seatbelt in place. "Let's get out of here"

Luca made his way to the driver's seat and started the car. The loud roar of the engine came to life filling the silent parking lot with its sound.

He glanced over at Alexandra from time to time, noticing how she yawned indicating that she was sleeping. Training his eyes on the road he drove far from the club.

"You'll have to give me your house a…" he said quietly but stopped when he noticed that she was fast asleep.

He observed her sleeping form, his eyes tracing her features. He took a right turn taking a different path. He decided to go to his penthouse. He hasn't brought any women to his penthouse but the thought of leaving Alexandra in a lonely motel here didn't sit well with him.

He kept glancing at her as he drove, noticing how her eyelashes casted shadows on her cheeks. Her lipstick was smudged and her head bent to the side in an uncomfortable position.

After driving for a few minutes,he finally pulled up in front of a beautiful building. He made his way into the driveway and killed the engine of his car.

Opening the car door,he picked up Alexandra sleeping form, holding her gently. He moved carefully to avoid waking her up. It was already pretty late and his staff were already asleep.

His penthouse was eerily quiet. His shoes clicked against the marbled floor. He knew that she would freak out when she woke up in the morning but he decided not to worry about it now as he had something to worry about.

He carried her into the bedroom, taking light steps as he climbed the stairs. He placed her gently on the center of the bed, tucking her into bed. He watched how peaceful she looked as she slept. Pushing the baby hairs that fell over her face he whispered,

"Oh Alexandra, I really need to stop this"

Closing the door quietly behind him,he pulled out his phone, placing a call to a number. The phone was immediately answered after the first ring. "We got something" The voice said from the other end of the phone.

Luca's expression turned serious as he said. "I'll be there in five," he said before hanging up. Opening a drawer,he pulled out a gun. Making sure that there were bullets in it,he tucked it securely in his belt.
