Chapter 62 (Cunning Men)

Adrian POV

The ride back home was a really shameful one. The stares I was getting were terrible; I could feel the disappointment in the air; even Collin looked away from me. But I held it in, a blank look on my face as we went back to the pack. Not like I would ever admit to whatever went wrong; I am still their alpha, and not all wars are meant to be won. After a long ride, we got to the pack, and some pack members were out, all smiles, but once they saw the pain and anger on everyone’s faces, their face was pulled up in a frown.

I know they all demanded an explanation of what was happening; this was not how they expected us to come back, especially since we were all so confident. And we didn’t even spend an hour in Damien’s territory; they beat us, and now I am at a loss.
