Trying to keep a low profile in a wolf pack is really hard for almost everyone. But when you’re considered a medical marvel, then it’s even harder. That’s me and my twin brother.

Contrary to what a lot of people think, multiple births are really rare with werewolves.

We don’t breed lots of litters when we get pregnant. It’s usually only one baby.

But we got lucky and my brother and I are twins and we get along really well for a couple of 17 year olds.

It’s almost probably got something to do with our father being the head warrior of the pack as well.

He got that title when he was only 28 years old and he’s held it for all these years.

And I really don’t think anyone will be taking that title away from him anytime soon.

And if anyone tries, he’s going to nominate either myself or my brother. That’s why he works us so hard.

Just like this morning for example. I mean, it’s only just dawn and we’ve already jogged half way around the pack territory already.

“So Amberly, got any plans for tonight?” Evan asked.

“Why do you ask?” I asked, confused. I mean, it’s a school night. Why would I have something planned?

“Because I’ve seen you and your friends huddled in little groups over the last couple of days and that usually means trouble.” He smirked.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” I said, trying not to give anything away.

“Alright. If you don’t want to talk about that. I need to talk to you about Molly.” He said. And I rolled my eyes.

“You hate talking to me about her because you know how I feel about her.” I said, keeping in pace with him even though I’m only 6 feet tall and he’s 6 foot 5.

I know that 6 feet is tall for a she-wolf, but there’s not really anything normal about myself or my brother.

“I just think that there’s something going on behind my back. And I need you to tell me if you notice anything. Don’t try to spare my feelings.” Evan said.

“Firstly, when have I ever tried to spare your feelings? I’ve always been up front and honest, haven’t I?” I asked. And he looked at me, hesitantly shaking his head. “Good. I haven’t noticed anything but she wouldn’t do anything in front of me because I’m your sister. She knows how close we are. But I’ve heard from other people that she’s a tramp. She’ll open her legs for any guy that will look at her.” I said.

That definitely wasn’t the answer that Evan was looking for.

Sometimes I got the feeling that he was testing me, and I think this was one of those times.

Because once he heard what I had to say, he tripped me and caused me to fall head over tit on the ground.

I got back up as quickly as possible and he was ahead of me, but he was jogging backwards while giving me the finger with a smile on his face.

So I ran even faster to catch up, and when he realized that I wasn’t slowing down it was too late for him to turn and run.

I tackled him to the ground and made sure he was facing down on the ground so I could get up and start running faster.

After that it turned into a race and everytime we would catch each other, we would sabotage each other to try and get ahead.

But by the time we got back to our really nice, newly built single story home, I burst through the door with my arms up in victory and laughing in Evan’s face.

When I turned around I saw our father standing in the doorway with a stopwatch.

“Hi dad.” I said.

“8 seconds longer than yesterday. Let me guess, you were screwing around instead of jogging.” He said. And I looked at Evan and we both knew that we were going to pay for that.

Dad didn’t like us to take our training as a joke. It always had to be serious business. Even if we are two of the best fighters in the pack. Even better than some of the grown warriors that they have protecting the pack. “50 push ups. Now.” He demanded.

So we went to the living room and we both rolled out a yoga mat and we started doing our push ups on the mats.

We only did that so we didn’t get sweat all through the carpet which would stink up the place.

Mom was in the kitchen watching us with a disappointed look on her face.

Not towards us. Towards dad.

We knew that she didn’t like him pushing us as hard as he did, but we understood why he did it.

We were the only teenagers in this pack that is actually allowed to fight with the warriors if there is ever an attack. And we have had our share of rogue attacks.

They’ve become more frequent and that’s why dad works us as hard as he does.

I can’t really fault him for that.

When we finished the push ups, we both needed a shower badly but mom stood in the way.

“Sit at the table and eat first.” She ordered.

“We’re going to stink up the kitchen while we’re eating.” I said. So Mom turned to look at Dad with a very knowing look.

“It’ll be fine. The windows are open. Come and eat.” Dad said.

So we went to the kitchen to eat the breakfast that was still hot, thanks to mom getting out of bed so early to cook for us.

She really didn’t have to and I’ve told her that, but the boys have insisted on having breakfast.

I’ve even offered to cook when I get back from jogging, but they don’t want sweat in their food apparently.

They’re just being assholes. And difficult. You know, typical men.

As soon as we were finished with breakfast, I got up and I started walking down the hallway when Evan ran past me and pushed me into the wall as he was running towards the bathroom.

“No you don’t, asshole.” I ran after him.

He made it to the bathroom but I dove on the ground and I grabbed his leg before he closed the door and I tried to drag him out.

I didn’t let go of him as I made my way to my feet and I grabbed him around the waist and tried to pull him out.

I reached around to the front of him and twisted his nipple, causing him to growl at me and I started laughing.

“Let me in first.” I yelled.

“I got here first.”

“Because you pushed me out of the way.”

“I don’t care. I still got here first.” He yelled.

“Would you two keep it down?” Mom yelled from the kitchen.

“Sorry mom.” I sang out. And I turned back to look at Evan who had turned around to look at me while I still had my arms around his waist.

“Want a kiss?” He asked.

So I threw my head forward and headbutted him in the face so he let go of the doorframe and I pushed my way into the bathroom and I pushed him out and slammed the door and locked it.

“Don’t fuck me asshole.” I yelled through the closed door.

So I had a shower and I grabbed my towel out of the cupboard and I wrapped it around my chest as I opened the door and I walked out of the bathroom and down the hallway to my room.

I was expecting to get into trouble for headbutting him but when I saw dad he just smirked at me as he went into his room.

I got dressed and I brushed my really long straight blonde hair and I applied a little bit of makeup. Not too much.

As we were getting ready to leave for school when someone knocked on the door so dad answered it and Beta Justin was standing there.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you so early Michael. Good morning Madison.” Beta Justin said.

“Good morning.” Mom said, standing up.

“Michael. Can I please speak to you in private? It’s urgent.” Beta Justin said.

“You can’t talk about this in front of my family? I don’t keep secrets from them.” Dad said.

“I’m sorry. This is Alpha orders.” Beta Justin said.

If it was Alpha’s orders then it was definitely serious. And we had no idea what the hell could be going on.

All Evan and I could do was speculate and mom stayed really quiet while we were talking. It was obvious that she was worried. But she was trying not to show it.

Her facial expressions were fine. But we knew when she was nervous or worried because she stopped talking. That was her ‘tell’ whenever something was wrong with her. She just didn’t know that we knew.

But dad ushered Beta Justin out the front door so they could speak outside, where we couldn’t hear them. And it definitely looked serious.

As soon as I finished the training session with the kids, Evan met me at the field and we walked home together. Dad didn’t want either of us to have a car because he thought that was just lazy. We could walk wherever we wanted to go. Besides, the pack wasn’t that big so it wasn’t going to be a massive task to walk somewhere. When we got home I put my bag in my room and I went back to the kitchen and I finished helping mom with dinner. As I sat there trying to register what dad just told me, a lot of questions started popping into my head. Dad looked pretty upset right now and I didn’t really blame him. If he and the Alpha have been trying to work out why that pack was watching ours, I would be pretty edgy too. “Why the hell would he be watching us? We haven’t done anything to him, have we? I can’t imagine our Alpha would be that stupid. He’s called the Devil for a reason. And why the hell would he want to kidnap me? The Alpha’s son was right there.” I said in a complete word vomit. I couldn’t help it. I had all these questions and they just started spilling out and there was nothing I could do to stop them. My mind was telling me to calm down, but my mouth just kept moving. “Amberly. I can’t tell you any more than what I’ve already told you. And you can’t tell anyone else.” Dad insisted. My whole head was reeling. I know that it was horrible of me to say that the Alpha’s son was right there, but that made more

Ryan waited for the whole class to be emptied before he went to the doorway and he waited for the school to be clear as well. He just kept us in that classroom for so long and I couldn’t argue with him. I had to do what he said. He waited until everyone was gone before he held my hand and he pulled me down the hallway and we slipped out the side door. He looked around to make sure the coast was clear and instead of going to the packhouse where the shelter was, or even the gym in the school where another shelter was, he took me towards the forest. I could hear where the fighting was happening and we were running in the opposite direction. We ran for about 10 minutes before we came to another hang out that we didn’t want our parents to know about. They were underground bunkers and we went inside but I was commanded to stay inside since there weren’t any doors on the bunkers. Ryan lit a gas lantern to give us a little light and all the crap from our last party was still here. Empt

What does he want with me? I’m no one special.” I said. Ryan walked towards me, slowly this time, and he reached his arms out to cup the sides of my face. “I know that it doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t make sense to me either. That’s all that dad would tell me. He just told me that the Alpha wants you and that I had to keep you away from the battle. She already thinks this battle is her fault.” Ryan said. And Alpha Matthew looked over Ryan’s shoulder. “It’s a little late.” So Ryan turned around and saw me standing there. “Are you really just going to keep everything a secret from me? You do realize that it’s impossible for secrets to be kept in wolf packs, right. The whole place is like a giant high school. Nothing stays private.” I said. “Yeah. I know. I’m just trying to protect you. You know that. I don’t want you blaming yourself for this.” He said. “It’s a little late for that.” I said. “I better leave you to it.
