As soon as I finished the training session with the kids, Evan met me at the field and we walked home together.
Dad didn’t want either of us to have a car because he thought that was just lazy. We could walk wherever we wanted to go. Besides, the pack wasn’t that big so it wasn’t going to be a massive task to walk somewhere.
When we got home I put my bag in my room and I went back to the kitchen and I finished helping mom with dinner.
The three of us sat down to eat together, but dad was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is he?” Evan asked, sitting at his seat.
“I don’t know. He just told me that he had important business happening at the packhouse.” Mom said.
“Do you know what was going on this morning? The Beta never comes to the house that early in the morning unless it’s pretty urgent.” I said.
“I told you everything I know. I’m sorry. Now, stop asking and eat your dinner.” Mom said.
Evan and I exchanged glances, not really believing that mom didn’t know what was going on.
She knew more than she was telling us. She just didn’t want us to know.
But we knew when to stop probing. If they wanted us to know then they would tell us. And if they really didn’t want us to know, we knew to back off.
“Listen to me. I know that you two must be pretty confused right now. A lot of stuff is going on but your father is the head warrior. So, he’s a pretty important person in this pack. I don’t know exactly what’s going on but can you two just promise that you are going to stay close?” Mom asked.
“Sure. We can do that.” Evan said. And I nodded my head.
As soon as I finished dinner I went to have a shower and I got dressed for bed.
I went into my room to do my homework and I could tell that my father still wasn’t home. So I sat at my desk and did all the homework that was assigned to us that day.
Every subject and it was a pain in the ass. I knew most of it and it was just a tedious task at this point.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t let me take college classes while I was still in high school.
I think it’s because the Alpha doesn’t want humans snooping around the pack. But everything would be done online. There wouldn’t be any humans coming to the pack.
I sat on my bed reading after I finished my homework and I heard my mother go into her room and close the door.
Which meant she was going to bed.
I waited another half an hour before I got up and I walked over to my wardrobe.
I took my pajamas off and I got dressed into a short black mini dress with thin straps and black strappy high heels.
I brushed my hair and I grabbed a couple of fake hair extensions. Blue ones, that I put in my hair and I put on makeup and made sure that I looked good before I quietly opened the window.
I snuck outside the window and I mindlinked my friends and told them that I was out of the house.
I walked down to the end of the street and Ryan was waiting for me in his car with a couple of his friends.
As soon as he saw me coming he told his friend to get in the back so I could sit in the front.
“Hey. Bros before hoes.” Brandon said.
“Did you just call me a fucking hoe?” I asked.
He slowly turned to look at me before he quickly jumped in the back with the other two guys that were there.
So I got in the car and Ryan peeled away from the curb and we headed for the highway that led out of the territory.
It took us half an hour to get to the human town, but that’s only because Ryan doesn’t know what a speed limit is.
We pulled up outside of a club and there were two cars following us from the pack. All of our friends.
We all got out of the cars and Ryan grabbed my hand and we walked towards the bouncer who was keeping a lot of people outside waiting before they got into the club.
He was one of us though. And he definitely knew Ryan, so he let us all go through straight away.
We went inside and saw a lot of werewolves inside.
We didn’t know who they were, so they were from different packs, but they were definitely werewolves.
Now we just had to make sure that no fights broke out between different packs.
That was always a problem in these sorts of places.
We went straight up to the bar and Ryan ordered his drink and ordered my usual. A shot of tequila chased down by a rum and coke.
It only took a minute for me to finish both of them so Ryan ordered some more.
After we had been at the bar for a bit, Ryan grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the dance floor.
As soon as we got to the dance floor he turned around and pulled me close to him so there was absolutely no space between us and we started dancing together.
The rest of our friends followed and I saw Tris was dancing pretty close to Brandon.
I never noticed if there was anything going on between them two, but I was going to be keeping an eye on it now.
Ryan and I were dirty dancing all over the dance floor, not caring who the hell was watching us.
We were all over each other and having a great time with each other while we were doing it.
We were so into each other that no one else in the room mattered. Every touch and caress from Ryan felt like he was setting me on fire. And I felt like I couldn’t get enough of it. I needed more. I needed to be close to him. And I knew by the way he was staring into my eyes, that he felt the exact same way.
We saw our friends watching us, but they knew what to expect. Neither of us were shy and both of us were pretty good dancers. So we were showing off everything we had together.
We stopped briefly to go and get a few more drinks.
It sucked because our metabolism worked differently to humans so we didn’t get drunk as easily as they did. But I was starting to feel a slight buzz when we hit the dance floor again.
We were only on the dance floor for a couple of minutes when suddenly someone grabbed my arm and I turned to see Evan staring me in the face.
“You are so fucking busted.” He yelled.
That definitely brought me back to reality.
Suddenly we heard some shouting in the middle of the dance floor and we started getting pushed out of the way as a few guys, werewolves, got into a fight with each other.
Someone grabbed me around the waist from behind and at first I thought it was Ryan or Evan, but when I turned to look, it didn’t smell like either of them.
When I looked up at his face, he was a complete stranger to me with dark eyes staring at me.
“Amberly.” Ryan screamed from behind me.
I looked back and Ryan and Evan were trying to fight their way through the crowd, but they were trying to fight their way through the crowd. This guy was dragging me towards a side exit. So I grabbed onto a pole that was near the exit and he was pulled to a sudden stop. When he saw that I had a hold of the bar, he tried to pry my hands off of it but I threw my head back and headbutted him.His grip loosened but it didn’t let go of me, so I used my tall sharp heel and I slammed it down onto his foot and I managed to wriggle out of his grasp. He stood up straight again and tried to grab me again when I punched him in the throat and he fell backwards as I grabbed a beer bottle and I smashed it over his head. Ryan and Evan finally got to me and Ryan grabbed the guy by the collar and forced him outside that side door and Evan grabbed a hold of me to check me over. “Are you alright? Did he hurt you?” Evan asked. “No. He didn’t even throw a punch.” I said, confused. I was about to fol
As I sat there trying to register what dad just told me, a lot of questions started popping into my head. Dad looked pretty upset right now and I didn’t really blame him. If he and the Alpha have been trying to work out why that pack was watching ours, I would be pretty edgy too. “Why the hell would he be watching us? We haven’t done anything to him, have we? I can’t imagine our Alpha would be that stupid. He’s called the Devil for a reason. And why the hell would he want to kidnap me? The Alpha’s son was right there.” I said in a complete word vomit. I couldn’t help it. I had all these questions and they just started spilling out and there was nothing I could do to stop them. My mind was telling me to calm down, but my mouth just kept moving. “Amberly. I can’t tell you any more than what I’ve already told you. And you can’t tell anyone else.” Dad insisted. My whole head was reeling. I know that it was horrible of me to say that the Alpha’s son was right there, but that made more
Ryan waited for the whole class to be emptied before he went to the doorway and he waited for the school to be clear as well. He just kept us in that classroom for so long and I couldn’t argue with him. I had to do what he said. He waited until everyone was gone before he held my hand and he pulled me down the hallway and we slipped out the side door. He looked around to make sure the coast was clear and instead of going to the packhouse where the shelter was, or even the gym in the school where another shelter was, he took me towards the forest. I could hear where the fighting was happening and we were running in the opposite direction. We ran for about 10 minutes before we came to another hang out that we didn’t want our parents to know about. They were underground bunkers and we went inside but I was commanded to stay inside since there weren’t any doors on the bunkers. Ryan lit a gas lantern to give us a little light and all the crap from our last party was still here. Empt
As the shock was finally starting to wear off, I looked at Ryan who looked really concerned about me now that I knew the truth. “That doesn’t make any sense. How does he even know that I exist? What does he want with me? I’m no one special.” I said. Ryan walked towards me, slowly this time, and he reached his arms out to cup the sides of my face. “I know that it doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t make sense to me either. That’s all that dad would tell me. He just told me that the Alpha wants you and that I had to keep you away from the battle. You would be too vulnerable there.” He said. I nodded my head in understanding. Now I know why they wanted to keep me away from the fight, but I was still in shock and confused about what was so special about me. I’ve never even seen this guy before, so how does he know that I exist?Ryan finally moved his hands down to my waist and he pulled me closer to him so he could hug me. I wrapped my arms around him as well. I was welcome to whatev
Mom and I were taken to the waiting room and Ryan got us both a cup of coffee. Alpha Matthew arrived shortly after that and he sat in a chair that was facing us. I looked around and there was no one else in the room so I leaned forward on my arms. “Was it his pack that attacked?” I asked. “The Devil’s?” He asked. “Yeah.” “I’m afraid so.” “Why does he want me?” I asked. And mom snapped her head in my direction. “How do you know that?” Mom asked. “Because I’m a fucking psychic.” I snapped at her. Now knowing that she was lying to me as well. “I don’t know why he wants you. He called me the other day. We’d been talking about an alliance. And he said that he was open to the idea. But only if I hand you over to him. I don’t even know how he knows who you are.” Alpha Matthew said. “Why would you want to start an alliance with that man? He’s literally called the Devil.” Ryan said. “You’ve seen all the trouble that we’ve been having with rogues lately. They’re getting worse. And p
Dad had been ordered to take a few days off, which he wasn’t pleased with. He was going to go crazy if he wasn’t working. But mom said that she would keep him busy. It creeped me out when she said that because I wasn’t sure what she meant and I didn’t really want to know. Evan had been in hospital for two days now and I hadn’t left at all. I wanted to be the first one that he saw when he woke up. His girlfriend had only come to see him a couple of times and stayed for a few minutes. She kept saying that it was boring hanging around the hospital if he was unconscious. So she would leave pretty quickly. She probably only came back to check on him because she knew that we wouldn’t tell her when he woke up. Which is absolutely right. I had no intention of calling that bitch. Ryan had come to see me with some fresh clothes, so I used the shower in Evan’s room and I got cleaned up and I went back into the room where Evan was sitting next to Evan’s bed. “He looks really helpless, do
I walked out of the hospital for the first time in three days and as soon as I walked out the front I saw Ryan talking to Alpha Matthew. They were a distance from the hospital so I couldn’t exactly hear what they were saying but as I got a little closer I heard them talking about the battle. “We lost 6 warriors.” Alpha Matthew said. “Don’t tell Amberly. She already thinks this battle is her fault.” Ryan said. And Alpha Matthew looked over Ryan’s shoulder. “It’s a little late.” So Ryan turned around and saw me standing there. “Are you really just going to keep everything a secret from me? You do realize that it’s impossible for secrets to be kept in wolf packs, right. The whole place is like a giant high school. Nothing stays private.” I said. “Yeah. I know. I’m just trying to protect you. You know that. I don’t want you blaming yourself for this.” He said. “It’s a little late for that.” I said. “I better leave you to it. I’ll be at the packhouse if you need me.” Alpha Matthew
Trying to keep a low profile in a wolf pack is really hard for almost everyone. But when you’re considered a medical marvel, then it’s even harder. That’s me and my twin brother. Contrary to what a lot of people think, multiple births are really rare with werewolves. We don’t breed lots of litters when we get pregnant. It’s usually only one baby. But we got lucky and my brother and I are twins and we get along really well for a couple of 17 year olds. It’s almost probably got something to do with our father being the head warrior of the pack as well. He got that title when he was only 28 years old and he’s held it for all these years. And I really don’t think anyone will be taking that title away from him anytime soon. And if anyone tries, he’s going to nominate either myself or my brother. That’s why he works us so hard. Just like this morning for example. I mean, it’s only just dawn and we’ve already jogged half way around the pack territory already. “So Amberly, got any pl

Evan and I were looking through the window until mom pushed us away from the window. “It looks serious.” I said. “It’s none of our business.” Mom said. Dad seemed to be outside for ages before he came back inside. He refused to talk about anything that he and the Beta were talking about which was frustrating. I hated being left in the dark about important stuff like this. If they’re minor little crap that we put up with at school then I couldn’t care less. But when it involved my family, I got a little more protective. “Come on you two. It’s time for school.” Mom said. So we grabbed our bags and we walked out of the house. We weren’t saying anything either but when we got to the end of our road a mercedes convertible pulled up next to us and I looked over to see Ryan, the Alpha’s son, driving it. With his perfectly chiseled face, soft eyes and short brown hair. “Want a lift?” He asked. “Hell yeah.” I said, opening the door. I pulled the seat forward so Evan could get in the
