“What do we do now?” Hayden asked after we broke apart, and I started assembling my office.

“I don’t know.” I muttered.

This entire situation was bad. I was in a meeting when everyone’s phone went off, alerting them to the new article. Tristan had helped settle everyone, but it disrupted things at the office. I had to cancel the meeting and let everyone go home with the promise of an explanation.

“I have a suggestion.” Maria spoke up as she helped clean the office.

“What?” I didn’t glance at her as I checked over my computer to see if I had broken it.

“Well, I think it would be a good idea to get the news article taken down before it spreads further than it needs to.” Maria put my keyboard on the desk as she spoke. “After that, try to meet with the heads of other families to see what they say. In the last four years, you have made a lot of contributions, so I don’t think they will all turn against you. Also, your father was highly respected.”
