Chapter 56

As Lily said she would, we were allowed to enter the private party without an invitation. I wouldn’t have thought anything of it, but we arrived after a group of people who tried to enter without an invitation. Unlike us, they had been turned away.

“What did you say to him for us to be able to get in?” I asked Lily once we were out of earshot of the guy checking invitations.

“I didn’t say anything.” Lily shrugged and pulled my arm, directing me and the others to the bar.

“Then how did we get in?” I frowned.

“Don’t worry about it. Perhaps we got lucky.”

We arrived at the bar, which was lit with neon lights. Behind the bar stood a beautiful woman. Her smile could kill, especially with the large single dimple on her left cheek.

“What can I get for you girls?” The bartender asked, throwing a rag over her shoulder and flashing us with her killer smile.

“I will have a vodka tonic, and she will have a Shirley Temple.” Lily leaned on the bar and reached over the counter to grab a cher
