Chapter 39

Brooklyn had initially been watching the basketball game seriously. Both teams were head to head with the scores; neither of them had managed to score enough points to form a disparity. It was an exciting and suspenseful game.

"You're too nervous," Dimitri teased. "You make it seem like you're next up in the game."

"No. 18 is really good at this. He's basically the only one scoring," Brooklyn said seriously. "It's too bad his teammates don't seem to match up with him."

"You can actually tell that his teammates were forced into playing with him. Perhaps they don't like basketball, but he sure does." Dimitri could quickly see through a person. Just then, the basketball suddenly flew in his direction.

He quickly shielded Brooklyn, allowing the basketball to smack against his arm. The referee blew the whistle, ending the game. The ball hadn't gone into the net, and No. 18 had lost.

"Are you okay?" Brooklyn asked, looking worried. "Is your arm injured?"

"I'm fine." Dimitri frowned. Hi
