The two young girls conversed together in lower tones. Their friendship was not yet into its fourth month. It was approximately the length of time that they had been working together as a slave, and vigorously at the Shadow white pack clan.
Cara carried the bucket full of dung from horses they had just cleaned in the barn while Laurel packed the rest of the dung with a shovel as one of the werewolf meant to oversee them approached them but merely passed with a wave of his hand in their direction.
"I feel like running away from all this, I'm so tired," Laurel Sindy said
"I guess you're still dreaming. Running away from this place is like running hastily to your death," Cara Bradly replied her friend and turned to dispose of the bucket of dung in her hand on a hip of already disposed dungs.
Cara had been working hectically in the Shadow white pack clan as a slave. She got tired most of the time but put on a bold face unlike her friend Laurel who had made it her daily routine to complain.
"But what's your story, you never once talked about yourself and have always kept silent whenever I asked you about it." Laurel said with all seriousness to Cara. Laurel had been working at the pack as a slave before Cara became her companion
They've always been together, working and joking all the time but never really exchanged words.
It came to a time when Laurel mistakenly poured a bucket of water containing dungs of horses she packed on a werewolf. She was scolded and slapped numerous times until Cara yelled out with a high pitch sound at the werewolf in a slightly aggressive stance. Cara challenged the werewolf to a duel. The werewolf being a guy felt belittled by Cara attitude towards him. He fought with Cara but was defeated by her not until he called out to the rest of other werewolves watching over the slaves and beat up Cara till she bled from her nostrils and mouth.
Laurel became fond of Cara since then as she thought of her as a strong and brave girl not to talk of her beauty and tattoo on her shoulder which she has never seen before and with time became friends. Laurel would always question Cara but never get any answer from her.
"It's like war is coming, I mean, very soon." Cara said, changing the discussion from the question Laurel asked her about her story. "I thought as much, I mean, the clouds don't look too favourable." Laurel said, smiling.
Laurel paused, turned and looked at Cara in admiration. It seemed like she just digested what Cara said about an upcoming war. "What do you mean, by, war is coming… I don't get you well." She questioned petulantly.
Laurel did not notice the sharp end of the shovel handle and injured herself with it. She whimpered in a low pitch sound as her hand bled excessively. Cara rushed to her seeing drops of blood on the ground and made haste to wash her hand and cleaned it with her whitish gown already turned brown. Laurel walked away under Cara's gentle directive in order to go take a break.
She narrowed her thoughts with a pale expression on her face as she cleaned the barn and since Laurel is gone and now all by herself. She coughed repeatedly with her dirty hand covering her mouth. "you this stinking white tailed horse." She said feeling infuriated as one of the horses spilled the bucket of water with its foot.
She looked at her reflection in the small mirror hanging by the wall, already done with the work given to her by Eretria.
Eretria is the Luna of the Shadow white pack clan. A fierce quick to judge charming Luna, but also got a gorgeous face, probably that is what Alpha Luke saw before she took her as his mate. Alpha Luke and Luna Eretria ruled over the packs with unique laws of conduct.
She rubbed off the stain on her tattoo clearly visible on her shoulder. A dimple pops up on her face the instant she smiled
She plaited her hair and packed it together as they extended toward her butt. She turned back towards the door to take her leave with the empty bucket in her hand and another bucket full of dung on the other side with the aim of disposing of it on the way back to her room.
She walked briskly in the fiery rays of the sun and felt a little bit shaded from it when she got under the roof of the big residence of Alpha Luke and Luna Eretria. She had always passed another route to her apartment or rather where all the slaves were being kept but decided to pass their residence since Laurel was not with her
She suddenly stopped walking in response to a scent she smelled from an unknown direction. She wondered how it was possible that she never seemed to smell that kind of scent before. She tried to focus in an attempt to get the direction where the scent was coming from.
"Hey, you there, you shouldn't be here… Show your face," She startled, hearing the resounding voice from behind her and derailed her from focusing on the scent she perceived.
She took a stance and ran before the werewolf could get to her. She knew that's going to be another punishment for her if she should get caught by the wolf. She hurried down to her residence with no aim of looking back at the wolf that spotted her.
She soon entered her room. A small plastered room with cracks all over it. "Laurel, Laurel?" She called out her name in a loud tone. "Where could she have gone after getting her palm pierced open?" She pondered scratching her head with her palm.
She took off her clothes to have her bath wrapping herself with a floppy grey towel. She soon sat on the small broken chair left in the room after taking her bath. She flipped her wet long hair as she rotated her head repeatedly. Water sprinkled all over the place wetting the pendent she placed on her bed.
She took it up with a sad expression on her face as she stared at it. The pendant was given to her by her late mother. That seemed to be the only gift with her from her mother. She narrowed her thoughts and remembered how she felt when she perceived the scent on her way back to her residence. "I'm not even eighteen yet, I don't think I could make use of my wolf until then," She said to herself. "Maybe that was the reason I couldn't get the direction fast enough," She concluded.
"Until you turned eighteen before your wolf would show up," She recalled her mum telling her that when she asked her about how she first shifted to her wolf form.
Shortly after that, she stood up suddenly, hearing the voice of Priya yelling from outside the door of her room. She knew that something was off again. This is not the first time she was going to experience that but this was different. She could smell the scent of other werewolves that surrounded her. "What's going on," She grumbled, wondering what Priya was rattling about.
Priya was the adopted daughter of Alpha Luke and Luna Eretria. It was said that her father was a friend of Alpha Luke before he died alongside Luke during a war and her mother had died since she was little. Alpha Luke took her in as his daughter and had cherished her since then onward.
She had always gotten angered and jealous of Mia since the time she gave her a sharp unexpected reply. It was the second day of her arrival at the Shadow white pack clan when Priya called out to her to clean the stain off her shoes when she was sauntering around the clan. Cara who continued packing the dungs of horses acted like she didn't hear her nor see her.
Priya was infuriated and walked towards her with an attempt to beat her. Cara, who got some reflexes, held her by her wrist before she could lay hands on her. "Don't you have hands to clean it yourself, spoiled brat." She said to her before she could say a word, still holding her hands.
Other slaves clustered around them laughing in a joking manner at Priya. Priya could say nothing but kept silent, feeling embarrassed. It was when the werewolves came before Cara left her hand. She was punished for what she did but Priya wasn't satisfied by it. "Why does she look so beautiful?" She would say to herself. Despite the fact that Cara was a slave working under her, she felt like she is more better than her, all because of her braveness and beauty.
She leaned her ears at the door to listen carefully to what she was screaming about. She got to know that it's all about her gold chain. Luna Eretria gave her the gold chain when she was first adopted and had always been on her ever since.
Cara hurriedly hid her pendant in a wooden box under her pillow. She had a hunch about Priya's motive as to what she might do the moment she bumped inside her room.
"Cara Bradley." Luna Eretria yelled as she and Priya broke into Mia's room with a group of werewolves and accused her of stealing her gold chain. Priya already had a conversation with Eretria about Cara stealing her bracelet before making the decision to check out her room.
She was questioned about what happened and how Priya's chain got lost. Cara had always been the one to clean Priya's room most of the time and she seemed to be the only suspect at the moment. At the back of Cara's mind, she knew that this was just a revolt and a devised plan of Priya to get Eretria to hate her. After hearing the side of her story which was different from what Priya had told her in the first place, She ordered the werewolves that came with her to search for Priya's gold chain.
The werewolves searched her room but couldn't find the gold chain. They were about to inform Eretria about it when another wolf spotted a part of the wooden box slightly exposed. "What is this." He whispered to another wolf as he picked up the wooden box and opened it up. He brought out the pendant and handed it over to Eretria.
The pendant has a symbol that looks like that of her tattoo. "This pendant looks like a royal one, where did you get this from," Eretria questioned her. Cara looked away from her, not saying anything. "As we could not find Priya's gold chain, this is now going to be hers." She said to Cara and turned to Priya and gave her the pendant as a compensation for her lost chain.
"She should be punished mom, you can't just let her go scott free." Priya muffled, leaping her legs on a spot. Priya turned to Cara and gave her a directive to kneel down for twenty four hours. The werewolves escorted Cara and stopped in front of Priya's residence. She knelt down on a rocky ground as she had been ordered.
It was the day before Cara's 18th birthday when she had her issues with Luna Eretria and Priya. She glanced at the tattoo on her shoulder while she knelt down on the rocky stones in front of Priya," residence. She had nostalgic recollections of how some few years back, even though she is the daughter of an Alpha, she still got to train with the bodyguards werewolves of her father. She recalled in her past how her mother drew the symbol on her shoulder when she was pronounced the winner of the first tournament she took part in. The symbol is no different from the Moonlight pack logo. "You'll be a great Luna when the time comes," Her mother said to her after she drew the symbol on her shoulder. Her mother, Allison Bradley, a strong Luna mated to her Father, Collins Bradley were the Alpha and Luna of the Moonlight pack. There was a time she watched her father take on eight werewolves all by himself. Though it was a fair fight, she had always thought about how one could conquer them afte
Cara got up early in the morning to do her unfinished chores. She already had the intention of searching Priya's room for her pendant. Not quite long after one hell of a work. Laurel was woken up by her, a few minutes after she had done some hectic Job. "I want to sleep some more.' She grunted and reclined back to her bed. She walked hurriedly to Priya residence in the name of doing her laundry. She knocked on her door but got no response from the inside. "Where could she have gone this morning?" She wondered. The sun was just setting up when Cara got to Priya's apartment. She looked around her and tiptoed to and fro in search of anyone coming. "I guess this is the right time." she exclaimed feeling a sense of accomplishment. The door creaked open as she pressed her hand against it gently and closed it behind her again the moment she got inside. She searched the whole room for the pendant, moving from one spot to another. "What is this, is this not Priya's gold chain... how come." Sh
"What could I do, something must have happened... He doesn't look good," Priya mused, trying to grasp what happened between Ethan and Cara.Priya treaded on the tiled tainted floor, aimlessly in her room, thinking of a way to get back at Cara and win back Ethan's heart. Her mind became jam-packed, piled up with thoughts. "I can't take that from you... you're trying to turn Ethan away from me." She screamed, pointing her finger to the wall, like she was talking to it.She removed the pendant dangling down from her neck, looked at it and smashed it down on the floor. She looked at the pendant lying lifelessly on the floor and picked it up a second time only to smash it against the wall. She laughed hysterically like a wisecrack. "This is how I'm going to end you." She said to herself. She had just made an attempt to damage Cara's pendant given to her by Eretria in exchange for hers which she claimed to be stolen by Cara."Maybe I should go see Ethan again, I wonder how he is doing." She
"Why don't you take a break, Cara... you've been working and I don't think that's good enough." Laurel said, feeling sorry.Cara had been working feverishly over the forthcoming welcome ceremony and the trials under Alpha Luke directive. Sweat dropped down from her face as she bent down, feeling tired. Cara shifted to her wolf and carried a heavy load to another spot, a few miles from where she was. Laurel did the same and followed her but unlike Laurel who doesn't have her wolf yet or probably doesn't have at all as to what she had always thought felt uneasy, carrying the load. She thought about what Priya did to her. She knew within herself that Alpha Luke couldn't have punished her just like that if she hadn't lied against her and she couldn't have defended herself in front of him even though she tried to.Being a close friend of Cara, she could not leave her all by herself doing all the work. "But what have you got with this Priya?" She asked. It took a while before Cara could giv
Ethan sat up on his bed, all by himself inside his room. He reclined back on the bed. He does not really seem to be at his best. He shivered and groaned. "You shouldn't have been here, Roy, have you come to disgrace me again." He stood up and tarried around his room. He reflected back to his past. He had known Roy since when he was very young. They were trained and they both had the best Royal guard as their master. They were best friends of different packs and loved being together."Father, I want to visit the Blackpool Pack," He remembered telling that to his father. He was only nine years and few weeks when he made that request and that was before Priya was even adopted. Their relationship started to hang by a thread when they first had their tournament. They both won till they got to the final stage where they must fight with themselves. That was an inevitable scenario as only a winner would be granted the reward. Roy was only a year older than Ethan. Roy eventually won the tou
Roy bowed his head before Alpha Luke and greeted him. Luke stood up from where he sat and walked up to him, lifting up his head with both of his hands. He smiled to his face and soon placed his arms around his shoulder. He was fond of Roy since when he was little. He admired his strength and confidence to win."How's Michael?" He asked"Is in the good hands of my mother." He repliedMicheal was the father of Prince Roy and the Alpha of the Blackpool Pack. He was loved by everyone and had lots of acolytes, probably that made him to rule over all other packs in his territory. Mated to Zoe made him stronger. Since Zoe was from another pack, their pack had to come together as one and this made them the most populated pack."Micheal and I had once fought together at the trial." He admitted and continued as Roy glared at him in amusement. His father never talked about his friends, though they had a thing, he was never that close to his father. "And how was that, when?" He questioned, wantin
One could hear cheers grow louder such that it filled the air. Shouting and dancing to the tune of the music played filled the entire ground. Everyone in the Shadow white pack including the slaves were gathered in the name of the welcome ceremony that everyone had been anticipating for.Laurel and Cara hurried to the ground where the ceremony was to be held. They had been fitted into their best clothes. Cara's face, even the shape of her body, looked different with the dress she wore. All the werewolves of the pack after dancing and drinking were gathered in the square and lined up to welcome Prince Roy. Cara could tell by the expression and attitude of everyone how eager they were to see and meet the Lycan prince."why is everyone acting this way, Kinda seemed like he had an history in this place, they all seem to know him," She talked all by herself"Laurel, Laurel," She called out to her. Laurel who was already into dancing, holding a cup of drink in her hand, staggered as she wal
Cara felt a little bit dizzy, her eyes looked blurry as she faded, unable to see clearly the faces of those that captured her. She had just woken up after being hit by one of the wolves. The impact of the blow made her weak. She struggled with her tied hands. Her hands had been tied with a thick rope behind her lower back. She wanted to scream but her mouth had been restricted from doing that as it had been sealed with a thick cloth of wool. She could hear the jesting and crackling of the werewolves, laughing with a sense of accomplishment. "Here she is, we've gotten her... who is going to go first." She heard one of them questioning the others. She had been dragged to a corner where no one could scout through and since it was already late in the night. Cara knew that she hadn't been captured because of wandering around the Royal residence, for, if it was so, she would be kneeling in front of Alpha Luke at the moment, bombarded with a lot of questions. What baffled her was she also di
