Chapter 4

“What do you want to do?” After being chased for a while, the police finally spotted the sports car behind them, so they pulled the police car to the side of the road and stopped.

“I’m sorry, officer,” Nina said incoherently.

Adrian pulled Nina behind him. “I’m sorry, officer, that’s how it is.”

Adrian explained everything to the police. Despite being criticized by the police, he still brought Lucas back.

“What kind of parents are you to not pay attention to the child.”

“I’m sorry for bothering you.” Nina blushed and bowed her head.

To avoid traffic jams, the police asked Adrian to drive away immediately.

“Lucas, you’re too much. Why are you running around alone? Do you know how worried your uncle Adrian and I are?” Nina began to scold Lucas.

“I’m sorry.” Lucas silently bowed his head. “Lucas won’t do it again. Mom, you don’t have to be angry, okay? And Uncle Adrian too.”

“It’s okay, Lucas. It’s best if you don’t do it again. You’re still young. It’s dangerous to go around alone and get lost.”

“Uncle, do you know about that super precious toy? It’s an impressive toy.” Lucas’s eyes lit up.

“Then let’s go buy it now.” Adrian turned the car around and headed to Roberts Group, the exclusive item sold there.

“I’m sorry, sir. This toy hasn’t been officially released yet.” The salesgirl said shyly.

“Didn’t the TV commercial say that a few sets have been released? I can buy it for any amount, I want it now.” Adrian smiled and said firmly. For this exception, the female staff could only call the company. Because this toy set was personally in charge of Leonard from the design to the start of construction, the call was quickly transferred to him.

“Whose voice is that loud?” Leonard asked with a cold laugh.

“General Manager, we still don't know the other party's background. I'm worried that they're here to probe us. General Manager, what should we do now?"

"Not for sale." Leonard hung up.

"Sorry, sir, our manager said that this toy set is temporarily not for sale. Our general manager only has one set right now."

"What? Roberts Group, right? Then I'll go directly to your general manager." Adrian wanted to tell Nina that he was going out but was pulled back by Nina.

"Adrian, what are you doing? It's okay if you can't buy it, don't make things difficult for others."

"Nina, I just received a notice from the head office that I'll be temporarily taking a leave of absence. I have to report back to the head office tomorrow, so we have to return to Canada immediately." Adrian didn't dare to look Nina in the eye and said.

"What? We've only been here a few days and you already want to go back. Adrian, can you stay? I found out that I like this place like I've lived here for a long time. Lucas and I will stay here and wait for you to come back, okay?"

"No way." Adrian looked panicked as he hugged Lucas and pulled Nina out.

"Uncle, you don't have to drag my mother like that, she will get hurt." Lucas protested.

"Nina, you are my fiancee now. Of course, you will follow me."

"I've always listened to you, now I want to be my boss for once. I like this place and want to stay. Adrian, can't you give in to me?" Nina pleaded.

Adrian's face was serious for a long time before he asked deeply: "Nina, you don't want to come back with me?"

"Adrian…."

"Okay, I respect your choice. I agree with you, I will quickly handle the matter there and come back right away. If you need anything, call me immediately. Nina, I absolutely won't force you to do anything." Adrian finally agreed with Nina, letting her and Lucas stay in this country.

"Hey, Assistant Harry, please take care of the sales department for me." Leonard was worried that something was wrong, so he sent his subordinates there to see what was going on.

"General Manager, the sales department said they left two minutes ago. Oh right, General Manager, there's one more thing. Today, the members of Gelex Group received a notice from the headquarters that they will be returning, and our project will be put on hold for later."

“What? Put it aside? They are dreaming. Don't stop, I will publicly call for investment." Leonard had just finished speaking when his cell phone rang again. When he saw that it was Paige, he immediately hung up. He had loved Paige before, but after divorcing Tawny, he had ignored her. But she had not given up on him in the past five years. Not long after, his cell phone rang again, this time with a text message. "Leonard, I have been wanting to go back to my country for the past few years. How are you? I miss you so much, your birthday is in a few days, and I wish you a happy birthday in advance."

Leonard glanced at the message and immediately deleted it. This woman had been trying to keep in touch with him. Speaking of his divorce from his wife, Leonard suddenly thought of the girl with black-rimmed glasses, Tawny. Her death had made Leonard live in regret and self-reproach for the past five years, without even having the chance to make amends with her.

"Lucas, don't you want to go to school anymore?" After Adrian left, Nina suddenly felt relieved, she felt like she was starting a new life. A life that truly belonged to her.

"Mom, can I not go to kindergarten? There's nothing to play there. I want to stay with Mom." This morning, Lucas suddenly acted spoiled and refused to go to kindergarten.

"No, Lucas, you have to listen. I want to find a job today." Nina smiled and stroked Lucas's little head.

“Okay, you go find a job. I’m going to school.” Lucas reluctantly put on his clothes.

After sending Lucas to kindergarten, Nina immediately started looking for a suitable job everywhere, but as soon as she heard that she had a child, people didn’t want to hire her.

“The flower shop across the street is currently looking for a flower delivery person. You can try.”

Nina sadly bowed her head and walked out of the shop, just as she was about to give up, a girl kindly told her the news.

“Really? Thank you.” Nina hurriedly ran to the flower shop, just as the other person said, the shop was currently short of flower delivery people.

“This job is very hard, can you do it?" The flower shop owner was really a kind person.
