Chapter 8

On the second day, as soon as dawn broke, she completed the discharge procedures. Nina planned to take Lucas to kindergarten. Unexpectedly, as soon as she stepped out of the hospital door, she met Leonard's assistant, who looked at Lucas as if he had seen his savior.

"I finally found this boy." After saying that, he quickly wanted to go forward and hug Lucas.

"Mom..." Lucas hid behind Nina.

"What are you going to do?" Nina asked cautiously.

"He is my savior. If I don't find him, I will be unemployed." The assistant's words were incoherent. "You are the mother of this child, right? Come with me."

"Let go. I'll call the police." Nina picked up her wallet and desperately hit the man. This situation quickly caused panic among the people around and someone called the police.

“Police, this person seems to have a mental problem, he wants to take my child away.” Nina hugged Lucas and hid behind the police.

“Hey…” The assistant was currently defenseless, no matter how he explained, he couldn’t make people believe him, so he was taken away by the police.

“General Manager. I just found that child.” The assistant immediately called Leonard.

“Huh? Then you think of a way to bring him here.”

“But I’m at the police station now.”

After listening to the assistant’s explanation, Leonard only said one sentence and hung up: “You think of a way to go out.”

He had just hung up when Lena walked in. “General Manager, there’s a charity event at the orphanage this afternoon. Are you going?”

“I’m tired, help me push it down. By the way, how’s the recent fundraising going?”

“It’s going very well. There are currently three companies that meet our requirements. They’ll send members to discuss the details with us soon.” Lena finished speaking but didn’t leave. “General Manager, have you been feeling unwell lately? I always see you looking very tired.” Her voice suddenly became unusually gentle.

“I’m fine, maybe there’s been a lot going on lately.” Before Leonard finished speaking, a soft hand gently massaged his shoulder. Lena bent down, her business suit tightly hugging her round chest.

Leonard smiled slightly and grabbed that hand: "Lena, do you feel like you've been in this company for too long?"

Lena was shocked, quickly took her hand back, and took a step back.

"Go away." Leonard squinted and uttered the words "I don't hope this will happen again." Frightened, Lena angrily walked out of the office.

Leonard suddenly felt unusually uncomfortable. Suddenly the phone rang again, he couldn't help but pick it up and answer, only to hear the secretary in charge of the orphanage's activities calling: "General Manager. Come here quickly, we found a really good child in the orphanage." The secretary was shouting nonsense.

Leonard felt more and more uncomfortable as he listened: "What nonsense are you talking about? Calm down and call me back."

Ten seconds later, the phone rang again, this time the speaker's emotions were much more stable: "General Manager, we discovered a child in the orphanage with a very special style, very suitable to be the spokesperson for our toy set."

"And he and you look extremely similar?" The secretary's tone was very unusual, he knew that the boss did not believe his words.

"What I said is all true, General Manager, if you don't believe me, please verify what we just said. This child, regardless of appearance or style, is extremely similar to you. It's too magical." His shrill voice made Leonard a little more interested. Could it be that in this world there really were two people who were not related by blood but had very similar appearances?

"General Manager, this little fellow is very cool. Come and take a look." The secretary on the other side tried to speak to sway Leonard.

“If I go there and don't find the child you described, you can pray for more blessings." Leonard put down the phone and walked out of the office.

Ten minutes later, he arrived at the orphanage's door. The secretary was already waiting there, holding a childhood photo of Leonard in his hand.

"General Manager." The secretary was overjoyed, feeling like he had discovered new territory.

Leonard didn't say a word as he strode forward, the secretary following him from behind.

The other female employees in the company gathered around, no need to ask, there was definitely a child who looked very much like him.

"Get out of the way, the general manager is here."

The secretary shouted and everyone parted to let the boy appear before Leonard. At that moment, he suddenly felt something hit his heart so hard that he almost forgot to breathe. This child... this child and he were too similar. Such a calm and natural demeanor, a pair of indifferent eyes hững, lips… this… how could it be like this?

“General Manager, what do you think? I’m not lying.” The secretary stood up, his expression happy as if he had just given him a precious gift.

Leonard pushed him away and walked straight to the little boy beside him. He sat down, took his little hand, and gently asked, “What’s your name?”

“Aaron.” He raised his eyes and looked straight into Leonard’s eyes. His voice was very soft and deep, really not suitable for his age.

“How old?”

“Four years old.”

Leonard looked into his eyes for a long time, those eyes made him unable to breathe, the pain in his heart suddenly rose, what was this? He wondered, could it be that this child had some kind of relationship with him?
