Evelyn's POV.

I woke up the next morning feeling very refreshed as though nothing happened yesterday, the soft sunlight streaming through the windows and casting a warm glow over my room. It was a soothing Atmosphere, as I lay in bed.

But this atmosphere was shattered when Caleb crossed my mind. I couldn't help but curse in frustration. I tried to shove away any thought of Caleb that morning and not dwell on my problems with him, from where I stand, I'm not giving him a room to hover in my mind.

Musing about Caleb was as bad as plummeting to a new low. Especially now that I have so much to look forward to, not now, if anything, the essential theme right now is to secure the stability and growth of my dad's company.

“ I'll keep him right where he belongs” I thought to myself.

I shoved the thoughts of Caleb away and made my way to the bathroom to start my morning routine. As I brushed my teeth and washed my face, I couldn't help but think of Leonard. This time it was impossible to keep him out of my mind, every thought of leonard was accompanied by a sensational feeling.

It felt like hundreds of butterflies were taking flight in my belly. I couldn't seem to place a just reason why I felt this way but I never want it to stop. This filing is the best thing anyone could have petitioned for.

I had been looking forward to seeing him, even though we hadn't scheduled a meeting, I couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement at the prospect of running into him. I can't even decipher what's going on with me at this point.

I chose to work from home today as I was waiting for the feedback of my presentation yesterday.

I had a light breakfast, and thought I should go see my dad. He might have been distressed about how I was feeling.

A smile crept on my face as I thought about my dad, how he had encouraged me yesterday, with just his gesture, I saw the hint of pride which was laced on his face, I could tell how proud he was.

I felt a sting of remorse. As I recalled how concern he was yesterday, when he thought I was floor sick, his concerns were purely genuine.

Sometimes I feel guilty for using his company as means of vengeance, but I can't leave Caleb go unscathed.

After circling through my thoughts, I reached for my wardrobe and slid into something causual and set off.

I walked down the staircase, with every step heavy from the burden of the tangled situations I stumbled into.

But I'm definite everything would be fine. With these self soothing words, my confidence boosted and I walked slowly but steady up to my dad's.

As I walked down the hallway, thoughts of Leonard snuck into my mind again, and a little smile escaped my lips, I took a deep breathe and moved on, not letting Leonard distract my attention.

I had planned to visit my dad free spirited.

Soon I was at Dad's, I had seen him from the footage at the balcony, so I meet him there, he was having a cup of coffee, I smiled broadly at him “Hey, Dad. Morning”

He returned the smile even more intentional, “ Hey, Evelyn. How are you?” He asked with a hint of concern everywhere on his face.

“ More than ever” I replied giving an exuberance.

“ Very well then, How's Caleb?” He replied with a question.

I wasn't in the mood for the topic so I switched and we spoke mostly on my presentation yesterday.

I had already returned from my dad's place and was seated on the couch in the living room with my laptop on my thighs, when I heard a knock at the door. I wasn't expecting anyone, and I wondered who it could be. But deeply I hoped it was Leonard. I made my way to the door, peering through the peephole to see who was on the other side.

It was Leonard, my sight cannot be mistaken.

My heart skipped a beat as I saw Leonard standing there, his eyes fixed intently on the door. I felt a rush of excitement at the sight of him, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing here. But I was happy he was here, my joy knew no bound.

I took a deep breath and opened the door, trying to play callously, despite the marathon happening in my heart. "Hey," I said, trying to sound casual. "What's happening?”

Leonard's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the intensity burning in them. "I needed to see you," he said, his voice low and husky. "I couldn't concentrate on not knowing or making sure you're alright. How are you doing”?

My heart skipped a beat at his words, and I felt a rush of excitement at the thought of him thinking about me. I stepped aside, allowing him get come in. He strode into the apartment, his eyes never leaving mine. And my whole body was vulnerable, reacting to every moment of these intense gazes.

As he got in, the room was quickly filled with his cologne. I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. I didn't know what was going to happen next, but I was happy.

“I was thinking we should try out this new restaurant, they're good, their meals are exceptional and that's what suits you” he proposed, but his eyes weren't looking like he was seeking, they were screaming yes or yes.

My heart was already screaming yes, but I activated my feminine function, so I said I had some work to do, and he insisted on just what I had predicted and wanted him to do.

I smiled and said to him, “ Only because you asked nicely”

He smiled in accomplishment and threw me a stern look “You've got thirty seconds to fix yourself up or my deal is over.”

Soon I was ready, and we left the house, he led the way to his car and opened the front door for me. I felt so reckless with the pang of excitement I burbling within me.

EVELYN’S POV:It had been over two months since the failed surgery. My dad had been living on what felt like a miracle ever since. Each day with him was a gift, a fragile thread holding him here. Leonard, Mia, and the caregiver had been the pillars of support I leaned on during those challenging months.Ryan and River visited often, bringing small moments of joy, but today wasn’t about my dad or them. Today, it was my turn on the hospital bed. Inside the labor room, I lay ready—or as ready as anyone could be—to meet the life I had carried for nine months. The pain I felt was incomparable, beyond anything I’d ever imagined.I clung tightly to Leonard’s hand. He stood beside me, his calm voice trying to pierce through my haze of agony. “You’re doing so well, babe. Just a little more.”A doctor—or maybe a nurse or midwife—entered the room, her expression calm yet purposeful. I knew it was time. She held a syringe, walking briskly toward me.“Hello, madam.
