Evelyn's POV
I sat across Leonard in the dimly lit restaurant, my heart fluttered. He leaned in occasionally, whispering words I couldn’t quite make out, his voice low and teasing. The soft glow of the lights cast a flirtatious ambiance over our dinner, and I found myself lost in his deep, mesmerizing eyes.
Our gazes locked again, and I quickly looked away, feeling the tension rise. To ease the moment, I asked, “Why do you keep staring at me like that?”
His reply was swift and shameless. “I was just wondering what else you do besides being insanely hot. If I had cereal here, I'd give it up just to spoon you instead.”
I nearly choked on my food at his last comment.
He grinned mischievously. “Whoa, slow down there. It’s not a race.”
With a smirk, I leaned forward slightly. “Wouldn’t you like to go racing for pleasure afterward?” My voice was sultry, and I bit my lower lip just enough to tease.
The effect was immediate. He shifted in his seat, visibly trying to collect himself but failing miserably. Sensing his reaction, I stood up and walked slowly to his side, my heels clicking against the floor. Now standing just inches from his face, I leaned in closer, my breath mingling with his.
“Kiss me if I’m wrong,” I whispered, “but dinosaurs still exist, right?”
I leaned in as if I were about to kiss him, stopping just before our lips touched. Then, with a sly smile, I pulled back and returned to my seat, leaving him flustered.
As he composed himself, he asked, “What do you think about tonight?” His voice was low and seductive as he ran his napkin through his fingers with deliberate slowness.
Before I could answer, my phone buzzed, shattering the moment. I glanced at the screen: Dana was calling.
“Bitch,” I muttered under my breath, hesitating. My finger hovered over the decline button.
Leonard noticed my pause. “Everything okay?” he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
I sighed. “It’s Dana.”
Taking a deep breath, I answered. “Hey, Dana. What’s up?”
Her cheerful voice came through. “Hey, girl! I just wanted to check in. I’m sorry I missed your presentation. Caleb tried to make sure I could attend, but I wasn’t feeling well. And he didn’t make it on time either. But he told me you were amazing—he even mentioned it to Dad!”
I gave her a quick summary of how the presentation had gone, keeping my tone light, though I couldn’t shake the feeling that Dana was fishing for something.
As we chatted, she casually suggested meeting up soon. I hesitated, unsure of her intentions, but eventually agreed. I wanted to see what she was up to this time, though my instincts warned me to be cautious.
After hanging up, Leonard raised an eyebrow. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, just Dana being Dana,” I replied, brushing it off.
He chuckled and took my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. “If you need any protection from Dana’s drama, I’m here for you.”
I smiled, warmth flooding my chest. Leonard had a way of making me feel safe, wanted, and cherished.
“Thank you,” I said softly, my gratitude genuine.
He suddenly snapped his fingers, and two men appeared as if out of thin air.
“Come, my lady,” Leonard said, holding out his hand.
“Where are we going?” I asked, intrigued.
“Would it still be a surprise if I told you?” he teased, his eyes glinting with mischief.
I took his hand, and we left the restaurant, the two men trailing behind us. Leonard opened the car door for me, and I slid in. He joined me, and we drove off into the night.
After a short ride, we arrived at a secluded spot. One of the men quickly exited the car and opened my door. My jaw dropped.
A helicopter stood waiting for us.
“Leonard…” I breathed, my voice filled with awe.
He smiled and extended his hand. “Shall we?”
We climbed aboard, and as the helicopter took off, I felt a wave of vertigo. I grabbed Leonard’s hand instinctively, clutching it tightly.
He chuckled, his gaze never leaving me. “You’re safe,” he murmured.
Soon, I adjusted to the sensation, and the breathtaking view of the city lights below captivated me. Leonard’s eyes, however, remained fixed on me.
“What?” I asked, smiling.
“You’re stunning,” he said simply, his voice laced with sincerity.
I leaned in and kissed him, intending it to be quick, but he pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. My heart raced as the world seemed to fade away.
When we finally broke apart, I was breathless. He grinned. “Easy now. The night is still young.”
I tried to regain my composure, but every time our eyes met, the heat between us flared anew.
“When do we get home?” I asked casually, though my tone betrayed my anticipation.
“Soon,” he replied with a wicked grin. “I see someone’s eager for a confession-worthy sin.”
I laughed softly, turning my attention back to the glittering cityscape. “This is beautiful, Leonard,” I said.
He nodded, his gaze still on me. “Beautiful and utterly intoxicating,” he murmured.
Before I realized it, the helicopter had landed. Leonard’s gesture snapped me out of my reverie, and we disembarked. Another car was waiting for us.
As we drove, Leonard placed a hand on my thigh, his touch making my toes curl. He smirked, biting his lips. “ You are irresistible when you look like that” his hand slipping higher.
I gasped a moan escaping my lips “Leonard” I said my voice breaking
“That is exactly how i want you” he murmured, his tone dark and alluring
When the car finally came to a stop, he leaned back and said “we are here already “
I looked out the window and gasped, the sight before me was nothing short of breathtaking
Evelyn's POV.We were in a mansion almost the size of a castle. It was breathtakingly beautiful, adorned with exquisite decorations and lights. As we moved closer, there was a line of people dressed entirely in black, each holding an artwork that read, “Welcome, Miss Evelyn.”“Oh my God, Leonard,” I said amidst tears. “This is phenomenal.”The moment I turned to hug him, fireworks lit up the alluring sky, their booming sounds amplifying the magic of the moment. In that instant, I felt as though I had everything I had ever wanted.Leonard took me in his arms, carrying me as we entered the mansion.Everything inside exuded elegance and status. Before I could fully grasp what was happening, Leonard picked me up in a bridal carry and brought me to a lavish room. The room redefined luxury — its magnificence was hard to put into words. He gently set me down, and I hugged him immediately. He pulled me closer, and our lips met in a passionate kiss.I could feel the intensity in every touch, h
EVELYN'S POV:I tried to act calm, not letting them notice the turmoil I felt, but my body betrayed me. I never anticipated Caleb's visit. But then again, this was Dana and Caleb being themselves. My instincts went into overdrive as I processed the unexpected twist. A shiver ran down my spine when Caleb's eyes locked onto mine, a hint of a momentum playing on his face."Dana, what's going on?" I asked, striving to keep my tone neutral.Dana breezed past me, with Caleb standing close behind. "I hope you don’t mind, but I brought Caleb along. I thought we could hang out. You know, make it a little gathering, isn't that interesting?," she asked casually.I watched as Dana and Caleb made themselves comfortable in my living room. A lingering unease settled over me; I couldn't shake the feeling that Dana was up to something, and Caleb's presence only deepened the mystery. But I stayed calm."I don’t think I want to go out today. Maybe we could hang out some other time," I said, feigning ind
EVELYN'S POVWith my heart pounding and questions racing through my mind, I dragged my feet to the door and flicked it open. The sight before me rendered me speechless. I had planned to visit Dad after lunch, yet here he was, standing in front of me.He wore a distressed look, as though he had just received terrible news. His face was etched with devastation.Stepping aside, I motioned for him to come in.“Dad,” I managed to whisper, my heart sinking as worry consumed me.We walked into the living room and sat side by side on the couch. As we were faced by ourselves.“Dad, are you okay? You're good?Is everything okay?” I asked not giving him any chance to speak, my voice trembling with concern. He looked at me with a mixture of fear and sorrow, laced everywhere in him, “I’m fine, Evelyn,” he said, though his trembling voice betrayed him. “But I need to talk to you about something. You’re the only one I have in my life right now, the only treasure I can hold onto, you are a thousand r
EVELYN'S POVI opened my eyes quickly, sweating profusely, my body drenched in a cold sweat. It took me a moment to realize that it was all a dream. I rubbed my eyes, trying to shove off the vivid images that still lingered in my mind. I turned on the bed lamp. My eyes darted from one nook of the room to the other, searching for any sign of movement or presence. But obviously, I was alone.I took a deep breath, trying to ease myself from the tension I felt at the moment. It was just a dream, I told myself. But the memory of it still felt so real. I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered inside me.As I sat up in bed, my mind began to wander. Was it just a coincidence that I had dreamed about Dana and Caleb betraying me after what I already knew? Or was my subconscious trying to tell me something? I thought intensely, trying to analyze every detail of the dream. And I came to understand immediately that Caleb and Dana were up to something. I needed to act—I couldn’t sle
EVELYN'S POV:I stared at my phone screen, my eyes wide with arrant disbelief.“How?” I whispered, my voice trembling with shock. My presentation—the one I had poured my heart, work, and soul into—had been rebuffed.Everyone knew I had done well; the applause and nods of approval from the team still played in my mind, the smiles of satisfaction, and the congratulatory handshakes I received afterward.I felt beads of sweat forming on my forehead as I sat on the bed, trying to process the news. This doesn’t make sense.I noticed Leonard wasn’t in the room, but there was noise downstairs, which signified he must be in the kitchen, probably getting some water. My thoughts were racing. This was too much to handle within 24 hours—I hadn’t even recovered from my nightmare yet. not even a half way and now these.Leonard appeared with a cup of coffee, concern etched on his face as he noticed my current state. He thought it was trauma from last night’s dream. He handed me the coffee and tried t
Evelyn’s POV:As I drove, my mind wandered back to the strange occurrences that had been unfolding around me. But I knew I was being prepared for something that was about to happen. Why had Caleb sent me flowers and a romantic card, especially after what I had seen in my dream last night? It was all too coincidental, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen. I needed just a little more clarity, a little more of a hint, and I would be ready for what was coming.I knew I had to be more careful, to plan my next move and figure out how to deal with Caleb, especially since I didn’t know exactly what would happen. I had managed to control my emotions at the office, gathering myself together to avoid making a mess of things. I needed to show the company my capability, and I wasn’t ready to trade that for my personal emotions.I was working perfectly fine despite the turmoil brewing inside me. My secretary had shown me some unattended emails, which I worked
EVELYN’S POV:It was almost time, and I was restless. Impatience gnawed at me as I anticipated his arrival. The dining table was set perfectly, and I had chosen a gown that complimented my figure beautifully. I looked almost perfect for the night, but I couldn't let Caleb get a hint of what I already knew.Soon, a loud knock echoed through the house. It was time to play the player.Opening the door, I found Caleb standing before me, a bright smile lighting up his face. I muttered a light greeting, and he responded with a warm hello. But his expression quickly shifted to one of surprise as he took in my appearance.I caught the glint of accomplishment in his eyes. Poor thing. He must think his flowers worked wonders on me, I mused inwardly.“Hey, I didn’t know we’d be going out, but I don’t mind. Anything for you,” he said, his warm smile unwavering.I met his gaze with a seductive smile. “No, we’re not going out. Isn’t it good if I decided to look good just for us to enjoy the night?”
EVELYN’S POV:As we sat down, Leonard revealed to me why my presentation had been initially rebuffed. He explained that there had been an intruding arm who had made sure to bring me down. But they were working towards fixing things. And he had also stepped in; that was why they were able to find out in the first place.I was grateful, but my mind was reeling with shock as I processed everything Leonard had just said.I listened intently, trying to make sense of it all. But as I looked at Leonard, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story."What else is going on?" I asked, my eyes narrowing as I searched for any sign of deception.Leonard hesitated, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. But then he smiled, and his expression returned to normal."Nothing, Evelyn," he said. "That's all I've got for now. We'll get it sorted out."I nodded, believing in him.Several thoughts were racing through my mind."Why would anyone intervene,
Happily Ever After“Yes, I do,” Evelyn said, tears streaming down her face as she stood beside the love of her life, Leonard. The sun set behind them, casting golden hues across the beach, where a small crowd of family and close friends clapped in celebration. Evelyn’s heart raced as the pastor, with a gentle grin, declared, “By the power vested in me by the state, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride now.”Leonard didn’t hesitate. He pulled Evelyn close, capturing her lips in a deep, passionate kiss. His mother playfully covered her face, peeking through her fingers, while the crowd cheered and laughed.“Grandma, I want to join Mummy and Daddy!” Ryan and River said in unison, their excitement contagious. Without waiting for permission, they ran to the couple, joining them on the floor. Evelyn and Leonard embraced the kids, laughing as they all danced together when the music began to play.Though the ceremony was intimate, the guests in attendance were people o
Evelyn's POVIt was Leonard, he was carrying the baby, the excitement in his face before I slept off had vanished. “ Babe, what's going on?” I asked. But he didn't say anything, his head was just bowed down slightly, as if finding answers from the baby.My mind started reeling with several thoughts, I knew he had gone to see my dad, did he not like the child?“ Say something.” I said desperately.“ I'm sorry Evelyn.” He said but then paused again, his lips shaking. The door of the room opened again, and the Caregiver walked in.She was also cold. I became confused.“ Was anything wrong with my baby? I asked myself.“ Babe you have to be strong, I'm sorry Mr Wyatt. He didn't complete his sentence when I realized what he was trying to say.My dad was dead, Mr Wyatt was dead. My life was over, literally what came to my mind.“ Noo, no, say something else.” I said, tears streaming down my face.It became difficult to breathe. I was choking on air. I wept bitterly on the bed, Leonard trie
EVELYN’S POV:It had been over two months since the failed surgery. My dad had been living on what felt like a miracle ever since. Each day with him was a gift, a fragile thread holding him here. Leonard, Mia, and the caregiver had been the pillars of support I leaned on during those challenging months.Ryan and River visited often, bringing small moments of joy, but today wasn’t about my dad or them. Today, it was my turn on the hospital bed. Inside the labor room, I lay ready—or as ready as anyone could be—to meet the life I had carried for nine months. The pain I felt was incomparable, beyond anything I’d ever imagined.I clung tightly to Leonard’s hand. He stood beside me, his calm voice trying to pierce through my haze of agony. “You’re doing so well, babe. Just a little more.”A doctor—or maybe a nurse or midwife—entered the room, her expression calm yet purposeful. I knew it was time. She held a syringe, walking briskly toward me.“Hello, madam. Just relax and stay calm. You ca
LEONARD’S POV:Then I turned my attention back to driving. Even though this was supposed to be exciting news on a normal day, we couldn't celebrate it."I'm hungry," Evelyn said. I gave her a questioning look.I turned the car onto another route as we started looking for a restaurant. We eventually found one and walked inside. The meal was nice, and I realized I was also hungry. After eating, we didn’t leave immediately; we stayed for a while to relax. Then a call came to my phone. I took it out and saw it was a new number. Surprisingly, I hesitated before answering, wondering who it could be.“Good day, sir,” a voice said on the other end.I tried to recognize the voice but couldn’t.“I’m from the press hub,” the voice continued. My interest piqued. “What’s the situation?” I asked urgently.“We have three offers right now,” he said.A wave of excitement washed over me for a moment.“Alright, I need their details immediately,” I said and hung up.I turned to speak to Evelyn, only to r
LEONARD’S POV:"It's the court hearing; it's tomorrow. It had just slipped my mind," I said to her, my words unorganized."I'm famished," she said, ignoring the information I had just shared, as if she hadn't asked in the first place."Here you go," I said, serving her meal."Smells so good," she said, sniffing the food while closing her eyes.We had a quick breakfast. Time flew by, and before I knew it, it was the next morning. When I woke up, Evelyn was sleeping peacefully beside me on the bed. The only unusual thing was her large baby bump, which I had grown used to."Good morning, baby," I whispered in her ear and kissed her before getting out of bed.I went to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. After finishing it, I started making coffee for us. I was almost done when a familiar voice interrupted me."Good morning," Evelyn said with a bright smile. Even though we were indoors, she shone like the sun.I moved toward her, kissed her cheek playfully, and then kissed her
LEONARD’S POV:Her checkups and scan didn’t take much time. The baby was fine and Evelyn was in perfect condition. Though the doctor recommended so much rest. Afterward, she requested to see the twins.“But they had left only yesterday!” I protested. The twins had become a big part of our lives, visiting from time to time. Even though they stayed at their grandparents’ house, their bond with Evelyn remained strong. They were so fond of her that they never wanted to leave whenever they came over. The feeling was mutual.“But I miss them,” she said, pouting her lips. “We won’t stay long; it’ll just be a brief visit.”“I know, but the doctor said you need rest. You should get some,” I tried to convince her. But Evelyn wasn’t one to give up easily.Eventually, she succeeded in convincing me instead. I called the kids' grandparents on our way to inform them of our visit. As soon as we arrived, the kids ran out to welcome us. I scooped both of them into my arms and lifted them high. Only t
LEONARD’S POV:I adjusted the car seat and pulled her toward me. She tried to pull away, but she couldn’t match my strength.“Leave me alone. I hate you,” she said, hitting me violently. But I kept my hold firm on her. After a moment of crying and consoling, she eventually calmed down.“Evelyn, I promise everything will be fine,” I said reassuringly.“No, nothing is fine. He’s getting worse every day,” she replied, her voice frail. She clung to me and sobbed gently. “I don’t want anything to happen to him.”“Of course not,” I answered. When she was calm enough, I started the car and we drove to the hospital.“How are you, Evelyn?” my mom asked as soon as we stepped inside the hospital room. The caregiver was sitting on a chair, while my mom sat beside Mr. Wyatt on his bed. He was awake now, though he looked so weak and pale. He wasn't the Mr Wyatt I knew months back anymore. We settled in and tried to cheer Mr. Wyatt up. We had a good time that evening. It was the first time I’d seen
LEONARD’S POV:“I miss you so much,” I said to her, placing a kiss on her cheek and then her forehead.“And you had to do this?” she said mockingly to me.“Of course, I’ll do it anytime,” I replied. She giggled and hugged me again.“Good afternoon, sir,” her secretary walked up to us and greeted me.I responded, and then we made preparations to leave. Evelyn and I stayed entwined with each other the entire time. We all boarded the jet and took off.Evelyn’s face shifted slightly, and before I could ask her what was wrong, she said, “How is my dad?”I kept quiet for a moment, thinking of how to respond. “He’s steady for now,” I lied. I couldn’t bring myself to tell her the truth—not yet.“I can’t wait to see him,” she said happily.“Sure, you’ll see him soon,” I replied, trying to sound confident.Even though she appeared happy, her face was still marked with dark circles, and I could see through her mask. She was deeply worried about her dad.“My mom is also at the hospital; she came
LEONARD’S POV:“I figured you haven’t had time to eat,” she said, noticing the amusement on my face.As I ate, we had a little conversation, and then she asked, “How do you intend to break the news to Evelyn?”I slightly choked on the food and let out a faint cough. I was frozen for a moment. It was still a question that lingered in my mind, unanswered.“I don't know. I’ve thought about it several times, but I can’t seem to find a good way to say it to her,” I explained. My mom placed her hand on my shoulder and said, “Just take it easy on yourself.”“Thank you, Mom,” I replied and continued eating my meal. Then my phone rang suddenly. I quickly picked it up without even checking the caller.“Good afternoon, sir,” the voice on the other end said respectfully.“The project has been approved. I just received an email—have you seen it yet?” he asked.I’d been so busy I hadn’t even thought about work. I had almost forgotten I was waiting for an approval. This was good news. It was a multi
