Chapter 84

Raymond’s POV

It was the early hours of a Tuesday morning, with the crisp and cold air blowing in all directions. Ken parked in front of the edifice, and I got off.

Adjusting the beige overcoat I was wearing on a deep blue suit and dress boot, I strode into the building.

My eyes were focused on where I was headed—the conference room, where about 22 board members were waiting for me.

I pushed the thick double doors of the hall, and the men and a woman sitting around the polished oval table spun in my direction.

Amy, who looked like she had been receiving an earful for allegedly not notifying me about the meeting in time, scurried to place my office iPad and other required items on the empty stair reserved for me.

“I apologize for showing up late. I was tending to something crucial,” I explained while taking my seat.

“Something more crucial than the diminishing stock price of the company?” Lorde Anderson, a man in his late 30s, attacked.
