Nathan’s POV

I left Summer asleep in bed this morning. It is going to be a long couple of days for us all. Today she doesn’t need to worry about the Wolf Council. She just has to deal with my mother. I give her one last glance as I leave our bedroom. She looks so peaceful.

“I can’t be bothered with this lot today.” I told my brother. Truthfully, I can’t be bothered with the Wolf Council any day.

“You and me both, brother.” He responds. Neither of us like the Wolf Council. It stems back to our youth when they threatened us for using our auras against their protection detail. They clarified that yes, we are of the royal family and yes, we have gifts. But anyone who wears a talisman renders those gifts useless. We were young, and they threatened to beat us senselessly. We know now it was an idle threat. They have the protection detail because they are so weak. But at the time we didn’t.
