Lucius pov Needless to say Titus didn’t get what he wanted. We had to get rid of the bodies and proof that we had been there, not fuck around and find out what consequences might come. Just because I was the King and these two hotheads were my mates didn’t mean we didn’t have to follow the law. This was a personal matter, not another house of criminals burned down. At the end of the day, there was a difference between preventing someone from commiting more vile crimes and killing someone for revenge. As I bagged up the bodies and brought them outside, I couldn’t help but wonder where the pack members were. Magnus had stopped crying the moment the voice echoed against the walls and now, my son was looking up at me with nothing but concern in his eyes. “Mommy?” The one word that passed his lips was more than enough for me to understand what he was asking. On instinct, my hand shot to the back of his head as I tried to pull it closer to my chest, as if that could help me protect my boy. “It’s okay, baby. Just close your eyes and let me deal with this. You’re safe, I’ll keep you safe.” All odds were against me, so it did feel as if I was lying.
