Extra Chapter 2

Summer’s Point of View

“Can you really manage?” Celine extended her slender hand, gripping mine as I stepped out of the car.

I smiled weakly in reply, yet all I could do was silently nod in response. I swiftly snatched my hand away from hers and stepped into the house. I had just assigned one of the guards to pick my car for me at the mall.

As I perched on the edge of the sofa, my mind was a maelstrom of emotions. Tears refused to fall, yet my heart felt numb, and my stomach churned with dread. I embraced Devon and Stefani tightly though they were already asleep, hoping that their comforting presence would offer me a sliver of strength that I so desperately needed.

After a moment, the door creaked open, and I slowly lifted my head. My tears wanted to pour down like a waterfall as I saw the figure in the doorway. Still, I showed no emotion on my face, my body unmoving despite wanting to shrink away.

"You're early," I forced out, my throat tight and constricting. I stood up on trembling
