Chapter 37: Work

"What are you doing outside in the middle of the night?" he asked, with his hands crossed behind his back.

"What are you doing in my room?" I replied, realizing how I had just spoken to him.

"I'm sorry," I apologized, and he said nothing. He wasn't frowning this time, nor glaring at me. I couldn't read his emotions, whether he was upset or not; he just stood there, staring right in front of me.

I cleared my throat, hoping I hadn't offended the devil. In a normal situation, I should thank him for saving June from dying, but I couldn't accept the fact that he turned her into a demon.

"Thank you," I mumbled, biting my lips, and he raised one eyebrow.

"For?" he muttered.

"For not killing me," I said, changing what I was supposed to say. I decided not to bring up the topic of June; he probably didn't know June was my friend and part of our mission.

"I guess you have seen your friend June," he smirked, and I gasped in shock.

"Don't be surprised, Tiny," he muttered, shortening my name, and I
