Thank you all for reading! I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Jaxson POV I am just beyond livid. Thank the fucking Mood Goddess that people decided to sleep in and not be on time for the sorting otherwise our warriors would have been all over and not been able to get these rogues! Kyle and I were running full speed, leaving our warriors behind us as we were faster. Mason was just a little behind us otherwise, just knowing our mates were in the center of it was terrifying. The snarls were loud as we approached the development. I saw a rogue had three kids pinned and the little boy was showing zero fear as he threw rocks at the rogue. Two little girls were huddled together, screaming in fear. Without hesitating, Colt barreled straight into his side and rolled him over and away from the kids. Without even stopping, Colt bit down on the neck and ripped it out, accidentally spraying blood all over the kids. The girls stopped crying and looked shocked and the boy was smiling as he jumped up and down hollering. Shifting back, I ran up to them as th
Scarlet POV We took the kids into the kitchen and sat them down. It didn’t look like they had a proper meal in days but they needed to be eased into food again. Grabbing some water and yogurt, I placed it in front of each kid. Then I grabbed the half sandwiches that were left over and brought them to the kids to eat. They hungerly devoured the food till they couldn’t eat anymore. “Thank you.” Tommy said. He had a little bit of mayo on his cheek. Laughing, I handed him a napkin which he took and used. “You are very welcome, now it is time to shower and get cleaned up!” I said. They all followed me to a guest room that I had set up for them. There were seven different beddings placed in the room so they could all stay together. I figured they would be more comfortable this way. Each bedding was a small pile of clothing for each kid. “One at a time may get their clothes and shower.” “Oh me first!” A little girl yelled. She grabbed her clothes and ran to the bathroom surprisingly fa
Jaxson POV “Do you hear that?” Kyle asked. The music was up and I was in my own head so I wasn’t fully paying attention. He had turned the music down. Rolling the windows down, I heard it. “That is our imminent threat alert.” I said gravely as I put the gas to the floor. “Scarlet?” I tried to reach her mind-link but I was still too far away. Looking around, I realized I didn’t bring my cell phone either as we left right away. “FUCK!” I yelled as I slammed my fist on the steering wheel. As we got closer, the town looked like a ghost town. So at least the alarm was working. “Scarlet?” I tried again. “Finally fucking time!” Scarlet was pissed. “Hurry up, I need you!” “Are we under attack, what happened?” “Just get here! No attack yet…here.” The threat alarm shut off as we pulled into the packhouse. There was a helicopter sitting in my front yard and to say I was confused would be an understatement. Getting out, we rushed inside and to my office. I was not prepared for what
Jaxson POV “Scarlet, please…please stay here this time.” I did not want a repeat of her watching an interrogation. I got new knives and I was anxious to try them out but I rather her not witness that. Plus the things I will have to say in there are not what I want her to hear. “Believe me, I have no want or reason to watch another one.” Her belly was getting bigger each day and she has started to wobble when she walks. I won’t be the one to tell her that but it is adorable. “Good. I will let you know when we are done and what he said, okay?” “Sounds good.” She was sitting at her desk with a tub of ice cream. I gave her a kiss on the forehead goodbye as Kyle and I walked out. Mason was already down there, probably talking to Courtney. “Ready for this?” Kyle asked. “Fuck yeah. I have new knives I am ready to try out. Haven’t even been used.” They should slice through the skin easily. “Will you let me have any fun?” Kyle asked, smiling. This is one of the ways we are able to get
Jaxson POV It was 4:30am the next morning and the storm clouds had rolled it. The thunder and lighting was impressive but the rain had yet to show itself. The wind was blowing up to 40mph gusts of winds as the heavens threatened harm to those who were outside. Unfortunately, we will be braving this storm to get the assassin. Sitting in my office, Kyle, Mason and a few head warriors were present as we strategized. This needs to be perfect and if he is keeping those people for experiments, then we can’t wait another day. They needed to be saved. The plan was to be discrete so he wouldn’t be spooked or kill his hostages before we could get to him. With my skills, I would be going in alone and Kyle and Mason would be very close incase I needed help. Everyone else will be waiting back a little for the signal to attack. We were dressed in all black. I had pulled out my black cargo pants, black athletic jacket with a tank under it. Our faces had black smeared on them to blend it but w
Jaxson POV On the way back, I called Mitch to fill him in. “Hello?” “Jaxson? Tell me you got good news?” “We got him, I am doing the interrogations right away. We have evidence of a statewide chemical attack. You need to come down ASAP and look at this. This will kill every living thing that drinks water in the state of Montana.” “Fuck, getting in the hellicopter now.” He hung up. It was still dark out as the thunderstorm kept the sun from shining. The clock read 10:27am so I knew Scarlet would be awake. Pressing send, I called her next. “Jaxson?” “I need you and Jennifer to be in the office in 10 minutes. We have a huge problem on our hands.” “W-what happened? Did you get him?” “We did and so much more. I will explain when I get back but be in the office and ready to look at paperwork. Keep this to yourselves. We don’t need a panic in the pack.” “Obviously…” She sounded annoyed at that and I couldn’t really blame her but I had to say it. “Thank you, love you.” I said
Scarlet POV We watched the guys leave the office, slamming the door shut behind them. I was lost for words as I looked down at the layers of boxes in front of me. Stacked three high and overflowing with papers. The only thing I could think of was how many paper cuts I will be getting by doing this. “The…fuck…” Jennifer dragged each word out as she too examined all the boxes. “How nice of them to be labeled.” I said sarcastically. Each box said either Jared or Isaac on it. “Which office would you like?” Jennifer asked me. “I’ll take Jared’s, you can have Isaac.” I responded with a heavy sigh. If there was anything to find, I feel like it will be in Jared’s pile. “You got it. I will pick them up and move them for you since they are pretty heavy. Where do you want to work?” Jennifer asked. “Umm, I’ll work at the desk since bending over isn’t my strong suit right now.” Putting all of Jaxson’s papers in a pile and putting them on a shelf so I could put all of Jared’s office pap
Jaxson POV Kyle and I were running at full speed to the nearest water tower on the western side. I don’t even know the final total of my pack since acquiring two additional packs but it is well over a thousand people. Not to mention the humans that use that water tower in their own private farms around here. I have the warriors spread out around us and circling around so if they try to run, we will catch them. My heart was pounding with each step my foot planted in the ground. My skin was dripping with a fresh layer or sweat, half from the heat and half from the fear and anxiety of the situation. Failing wasn’t an option. We got closer and closer to the water tower and I realized that we didn’t have a game plan. I mean, running full speed out of the forest and in eye sight of the water tower wasn’t the best since they would run off but it wasn’t like we had time to get into position to circle them. For all we knew, they already put the poison in the water. A gust of wind hit me
