Thank you all for reading!
Scarlet POV We watched the guys leave the office, slamming the door shut behind them. I was lost for words as I looked down at the layers of boxes in front of me. Stacked three high and overflowing with papers. The only thing I could think of was how many paper cuts I will be getting by doing this. “The…fuck…” Jennifer dragged each word out as she too examined all the boxes. “How nice of them to be labeled.” I said sarcastically. Each box said either Jared or Isaac on it. “Which office would you like?” Jennifer asked me. “I’ll take Jared’s, you can have Isaac.” I responded with a heavy sigh. If there was anything to find, I feel like it will be in Jared’s pile. “You got it. I will pick them up and move them for you since they are pretty heavy. Where do you want to work?” Jennifer asked. “Umm, I’ll work at the desk since bending over isn’t my strong suit right now.” Putting all of Jaxson’s papers in a pile and putting them on a shelf so I could put all of Jared’s office pap
Jaxson POV Kyle and I were running at full speed to the nearest water tower on the western side. I don’t even know the final total of my pack since acquiring two additional packs but it is well over a thousand people. Not to mention the humans that use that water tower in their own private farms around here. I have the warriors spread out around us and circling around so if they try to run, we will catch them. My heart was pounding with each step my foot planted in the ground. My skin was dripping with a fresh layer or sweat, half from the heat and half from the fear and anxiety of the situation. Failing wasn’t an option. We got closer and closer to the water tower and I realized that we didn’t have a game plan. I mean, running full speed out of the forest and in eye sight of the water tower wasn’t the best since they would run off but it wasn’t like we had time to get into position to circle them. For all we knew, they already put the poison in the water. A gust of wind hit me
Scarlet POV “Scarlet, you can take the alarm off. Water is all clear.” Jaxson mind-linked me. My ass hit the chair hard enough that it rolled back a little. Exhaustion was setting in with all these scares and drama that is happening lately. “Okay.” I messaged back. “You can turn that off, water is clear.” I told Jennifer. She quickly got up and turned it off. “Water restriction is over, use it at your own will.” I mind-linked the whole pack. I had a massive headache from doing so and the replies didn’t help. “Did Jaxson say anything else?” Jaxson’s phone started to ring. I mindlessly reached for it. “No.” I said as I pressed accept and held it up to my ear. “Hello?” “Oh, Scarlet! How nice of you to answer Alpha Jaxson’s phone. I take it, he is away?” I physically felt the blood run down my face and my throat to become instantly dry. My eyes widened as I mouthed ‘oh shit’ to Jennifer. “He stepped out of the office but will be back shortly. It is nice to hear from you, is the
Jaxson POV “Glad you made it. Got the witness?” Councilman Mitch wasted no time in getting to business. Just Kyle, myself, Dr. Keys and a handful of warriors came today. I overruled Scarlet and decided it was too risky to put her out like this right now with the baby and the high risk pregnancy she has with the bleeding. Mason and Jennifer are staying with her and having a pool day I guess. “Because I had a choice? Yes, he is right over there.” I pointed off to the side. Dr. Keys was chained by the wrist that went down to his ankles and is chained there as well. He was in rough shape with a black eye, yellow jaw, various cuts and shaggy hair. Nothing to resemble the once respected doctor. “I see how you were able to get the information out of him.” Councilman Mitch said gravely. “He actually was very forthcoming because he thought they would get to the water towers on time. He stalled by talking.” “Is he going to talk today?” “Yeah, he is still pissed that Jonathan backstabbe
Jaxson POV “Scarlet! Just come out!” She was holding herself hostage in the bathroom, not wanting to leave it. Apparently, her formal dress didn’t flatter her growing belly and she was upset. Since she wouldn’t let me look at her, I couldn’t tell her how pretty she looked, regardless. “I’m just so huge!” She yelled out “You will have a few months and will get bigger!” I don’t understand what the issue is. She is beautiful with my child growing inside of her. “WHAT?” She sounded pissed. Shit. um… “Scarlet, honey.” pinching the bridge of my nose, I was overwhelmed with these mood swings. “You are the most beautiful person and I love seeing your body change with my child growing inside of you. You are creating life and that is a beautiful thing. I would be worried if your belly wasn’t growing!” She opened the door and my jaw dropped. She was wearing a deep purple gown, it was very form fitting and showed off her belly. She still has a perfect figure and the sweetheart neckline tra
Jaxson POV- The next few chapters will be Jaxson I’m sitting at my desk staring at the same piece of paper for an hour now. The word denied was plastered in red across the top. It was an application to get a government inspection on the new headquarters that I had built. Since it is a government building, it needs a government inspection to sign off on it. The application was denied because it wasn’t “filled out correctly” and “doesn’t meet the requirements of a government facility”. Which is bullshit but just another than that Jonathan had pushed back against it. This shit was getting ridiculous. I know I can’t let it go on much further but honestly, how would I even do it? I’m not fucking scared to kill him but he is the fucking vice president of the United Fucking States of fucking America! He won’t have wolves guarding him so that should make it easier but I dunno. Pulling out his schedule, I looked at it. He will be in California today and threw the rest of the week. My Alph
Jaxson POV“Jaxson! Over here!” I heard from afar. Looking over the heads of the crowd, I saw Damian waving slightly at me. Nodding and then picking up my bags, I headed over to him. “Hey man!” We slapped hands and into a grip before our elbows hit each other's chest into a manly hug. “Flight go okay?” “Yeah, I didn’t realize we were landing in a public airport.”“Well, my private one got shut down due to “improper lane length” according to the government.” He put quotes in the air around that. “Makes sense really.” I teased“That’s why I need you to get this done ASAP.” “Me too, I would really like to shove his own ass down this throat.” I murmured as we slid into Damian’s car. “I understand you have met the driver before?” Damian motioned and none other than Anthony turned and nodded at me. “Well, fuck me. What are you doing here?” “I worked for the council on government assignments and since we aren’t doing that anymore, I have come to lead my skills to you.”“Please tell m
Jaxson POV “I’m not sure, let me text Jasmine…” Damian and I slipped quietly back into the suit so we were not seen. Damian slipped his phone out and began texting Jasmine before putting it on vibrate and setting it on the coffee table. “Maybe he just wanted to avoid a crowd or -” Damian’s phone shook the glass top of the table, interrupting me. My cells were itching forward to see what she said. Not in fear but in excitement. This is the type of shit I love. Spontaneous and using your brain. “She said she was unaware of why he arrived early but apparently her staff got the call an hour ago that he would be here and she was busy making sure accommodations were ready. Her staff got busy and forgot to call her to let her know.” Damian said with a frown. “I could see that. Her staff is trained well and knew what needed to be done to make sure he was happy when arrived. They did mess up by not calling her but still handled it correctly.” “Still doesn’t answer the question on why
