CHAPTER 7

Arianna's POV

“I guess there is some politics going on at the BBC. I don't understand my encounter today,” I said as I entered the car.

“Mommy!” Liam hugged me from the back seat, cuddling me with his hands.

“How are you, my sweet charming prince?” I asked him.

“I'm fine, mommy,” he replied.

“Aunty Brenda took me to the park,” we all laughed.

“I hope you had fun,” he nodded. “Good, now sit down, we are about to drive.”

“Okay, mommy.” I looked at him through the front mirror, and he immediately sat down, playing with his tablet.

“You were muttering some words earlier,” Brianna asked me.

“I really don't understand what happened at BBC News at all,” I told her, folding my hands.

“Firstly, why would you ask such a question to a Knight?” Brenda asked, her eyes focused on the road, gripping the steering wheel with caution.

“Shit, did I do something wrong, huh?” I asked her.

“You really did something wrong. Asking him the secret he kept from the other company on the air is despicable.”

“Oh, I must have done something wrong. No wonder he was like, 'Who sent me?'”

“Yeah, who sent you, because I'm sure you can never think of asking such questions,” Brenda said, as if she knew I got the question from somewhere.

“Mr. Kim and one strange guy gave it to me.”

“Mr. Kim,” she repeated the name.

“Are you sure you are okay?” I asked her, it took some moment before she could reply to me, like she was lost in trance.

“Yeah. Guess what, another thing happened today apart from that. I was given a double promotion from being an anchor to a host and journalist by that strange guy.” Brianna pressed the brake all of a sudden, a frown crease on my forehead.

“What's going on with you?” I asked her. She smiled.

“Nothing much. I just realized we passed the boutique where we are meeting to shop,” she replied.

“Is that why you almost got us killed?” I asked her.

“Sorry, babes,” she said. Something struck my mind that I had been wanting to ask her.

“You haven't informed me about your sudden wealth,” I asked her. She smiled.

“I'm dating a billionaire,” she replied with a broad smile.

“And guess what, he gave me a ticket for me and you, inviting us to the billionaire party that will happen in New York.”

“Billionaire party?” I questioned her.

“Yeah, and you might be lucky to find your prince charming,” she giggled, clearing her throat.

“Shall we go to the boutique to get some fancy dresses?” she said, igniting the engine and reversing.

(At the boutique)

We entered a fancy boutique where all kinds of clothes were displayed.

“Wow, I really need to meet your billionaire boyfriend,” I said to her as we giggled.

“Let's get little Liam something to wear. We will be back shortly.” They went towards the kids' section, leaving me to select my gown.

“This one is perfect for me,” a lady said beside me. I looked up to look at her.

“Brenda, did you change your clothes?” I asked her. She didn't reply because she was trying on a new outfit.

“Hello, girlie, I'm talking to you,” I snapped my fingers in front of her.

“Huh, excuse me, do I know you?” She questioned me, her accent quite different.

“Just five minutes ago, you changed your voice,” I replied.

Common, lady, I don't know you. Stop harassing me,” she snapped at me.

“Are you kidding me right now? And where is Liam?” I asked.

“Who is Liam? Young lady, stop embarrassing yourself. I don't know you. I will call security on you. Oh, God,” she groaned and walked out in anger.

I opened my mouth in awe, looking surprised at Brenda walking away from me.

From nowhere, Liam came and hugged me. “Mommy, see what Aunty Brenda got for me.” I turned to look and saw Brenda smiling.

“Are you sure you have picked the perfect outfit?” she asked me as I looked at her, surprised.

I was lost in a trance about what happened. I needed someone to tell me what just happened.

“Hello, young lady,” she snapped her fingers.

“Huh,” I said, coming out of the trance.

“What's going on?” I asked myself.

“I saw someone who looks exactly like you, thinking it was you.”

“Hmm, really, someone like me?” she scoffed.

“I hope you aren't pregnant again,” she chuckled.

“Stop it. I know what I'm saying. I saw someone who looked exactly like you.”

“Don't make me remember my missing sister.”

“Maybe she is your missing sister,” I said unconsciously, not knowing what I was saying. She hurried outside to look for her.

“Oh, shit, what have I done?” I questioned and ran outside the boutique.

“Please, ma, your payment,” the receptionist screamed. I saw Brenda sitting on the floor, sniffing her tears.

I tried touching her. “Why did you bring back her memory?” she asked.

“I didn't know. I was just hallucinating,” I replied.

“Hallucinating with my feelings,” she scoffed.

“I'm sorry.” I placed my hand on her shoulder.

“It's okay.”

“I'm so sorry, momma,” I pleaded, hugging her. After wiping her tears, she stood up laughing. I punched her in her stomach.

“Come on, stop it,” she giggled.

“Where is Liam?” she asked. I looked around.

“Oh, my precious baby.” We rushed back into the boutique. We looked around and saw Liam sitting beside the receptionist.

“Is this your child?”

“Yes, he is my child.” Before completing my statement, Liam shouted, “Mommy.” I smiled.

“Is that enough to prove that I'm his mom?” I asked her.

“I know, but you haven't paid for the goods you picked,” the receptionist replied.

“Oh,” Brenda took out her card, handed it over to her.

“Remove the cost of what we bought,” she said.

“I will.” The receptionist collected it from Brenda as my little Liam ran towards me.

“Momma loves you.” I kissed him. My heart skipped for a second when I didn't see him, but now my mind is at ease.
