CHAPTER 5

CHAPTER FIVE

Arianna's POV

“All right, here are some questions from your fans. Can you tell us about the secret you are trying to hide from Mason Company, that your fiancée is dead, and you won't be able to get the contract?” I said to him, making sure I didn't miss a line in the question I studied.

I waited for about five minutes for his response. I cleared my throat.

“Should I repeat the question?” I asked. He nodded.

“Can you tell us about the secret you are trying to hide from Mason Company, that your fiancée is dead, and you won't be able to get the contract?” I ignorantly read it out loud, smacking my lips together.

He suddenly smiled, “You are my fiancée, don't you know?” He questioned me back. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

“Oh, yes, I would gladly love to be one of the billionaire's fiancées,” I scoffed. Of course, who doesn't like better things? If he would marry me, I would agree, but it's just awkward when he said that.

“Well, my fiancée is not dead and is very much alive. She is a journalist on this show as well,” he replied, snapping me out of my trance.

“Hmm, interesting. She is a very lucky woman,” I said with a smile, exposing my dimples.

“Now, you said something earlier. A secret is a secret. My business with the Mason Company is my business, and my fiancée is very much alive,” he smiled at the audience.

“Okay then, should more questions come in, Mr...?”

“Carry on,” he said. I asked him a lot of questions about my questionnaire. He kept looking furious and nodded, answering the questions. Although, I felt something was not right about the questions, there was too much about his business with the Mason Company in the media, which was not meant to be.

“All right now, thank you so much to Mr. Knight for honoring our visit here, and my name is Arianna Fletcher. Thank you for watching. We will be ending this show,” I said with a broad smile. Finally, all the cameras and lighting were turned off. The lights turned off immediately. I walked away, rubbing my face with my face towel.

“So stressful,” I mumbled.

“Congratulations, you really did well, do see me in my office,” my boss summoned me, walking past me.

My phone rang immediately. It was Brenda calling me.

“Hello,” I giggled over the phone without allowing her to talk

.

“Did you watch the show? I anchored today.”

“Yes, I watched it. Very superb, bestie,” she replied excitedly. There was a lot of noise I heard while she was speaking. I ignored it and continued my discussion.

“Imagine me interviewing the wealthiest man today as a first-timer,” I said.

“Yeah, I'm coming over shortly to your place. We are close by. I took Liam to the park, so wait for us,” she said over the phone.

“Oh my, Liam ought to be reading instead of playing. You pamper him too much.”

“I know, right? Every child needs fun. Bye,” she hung up. I went straight into the dressing room and took off my suit, changing into my free gown

.

I went out and headed towards my boss's office. I knocked on the door, and a voice sounded in return.

“Welcome, Miss Fletcher,” he smiled. I was about to look at his table and saw Mr. Kim there. I didn't pay attention to this earlier when I was in his office.

“Yes, sir,” I nodded my head.

“Please take a seat,” he offered me, and I sat down.

“You need to tell me the lucky charm you use on him because no one dares to ask him such questions for me that must take a lot of courage,” I was so confused by what he was saying. I tried analyzing every one of his words.

“Wait, what did you mean, sir?” I asked, confused.

“Damn!” He hit the table. “Don't tell me you don't know who Wayne Knight is?”

“To be honest, I really don't know him that much. All I know is that he is a wealthy man,” I replied to him.

“Hmm, I love your ignorance then. Anyways, you have a reward. The man you met here today asked me to give you a promotion,” he said. The word promotion sounded like a bomb to me.

“A promotion for what?” I stammered.

“Promotion. We are giving you a rank. You will be promoted from an anchor to a host,” he said, suddenly my lips became too heavy to move. It seemed like returning, fate installed many fortunes for me.

“Thank you so much, sir. I'm really grateful.”

“Don't thank me, thank your confidence and Mr. Winston Knight,” he uttered and tried picking his words.

“Nevertheless,” he tried to cover what he just said. “You will be the host for the show of the Knight business. Anything about them, you will be the host for any interview or anything,” he repeated a few times.

“Thank you so much,” I said excitedly.

“Nonetheless, as a host, I will be giving you additional work. You will be a journalist, and a website is created for you to post news on it pertaining to…” Before he could finish, I replied “To the Knights.” I said with a broad smile.

“Very good. Next week will be your swearing-in. Now you can leave,” he said. I nodded my head and left.

Opening the door, I saw an angry face dashing at me, Wayne Knight. “Good day, sir,” I bowed my head, walking away.

“Come back,” he ordered. At first, I froze and tried to understand if he was talking to me. Who does he think he is that he can just command me however he likes?

“Me,” I slowly turned.

“Yes, you,” I walked towards him as he was guarded by his two bodyguards

.

“I still don't understand why you asked me those questions. Who sent you?” He asked me. I started feeling my blood boil. If only I could understand what he was talking about.

“Sent me ?,” I repeated the words, muffling them out one by one.
