CHAPTER 8

Arianna Fletcher's POV

"Welcome to the billionaire's party. May I have your invitation?" the usher asked.

"Sure," Brenda winked at me. I took out my invitation from my purse and showed it to the usher.

"You can go in. Have fun," she said as she unlocked the door. We walked into the mansion, which was well-decorated with balloons, flowers, and glittering lights.

There were golden tables and chairs around, men dressed in suits, and ladies in luxurious gowns.

The air smelled of wealth, and there were different types of dishes and wines placed on tables.

As we walked further, I saw the media around, including the BBC. I was shocked and checked my phone.

"Oh my god, shoot," I said out loud.

"What's going on?" Brenda asked.

"Guess what, I'm supposed to be interviewing the Knight family tonight."

"Are they here?" Brenda asked, looking confused.

"Of course they are."

“All right, bae, you can still go ahead and join them," she said with a broad smile.

I nodded and walked towards Mr. Kim, whom I had already spotted from afar.

"Mrs. Fletcher, I thought you wouldn't make it here," he said.

"Oh, I'm so sorry for the late response. My phone was low all through."

"How did you get the invitation to enter?" Mr. Kim asked. At this point, I was speechless and tried to figure out what to say.

"Oh, my Junior Knight," Mr. Kim said with a broad smile as my attention shifted to a man approaching us.

He was very handsome with muscular abs, looking like a demi-god.

Mr. Kim offered a handshake, and thankfully, he forgot the question he was asking me.

"Welcome, Mr. Kim. I hope you are ready for tonight," he said, winking at him.

"Sure," Mr. Kim laughed mischievously.

"Oh, come on, won't you greet Mr. Winston? He gave you all the promotions you got," Mr. Kim said to me.

My eyes widened in shock as I walked towards him, trying to find my words.

"Thank you for everything. I'm grateful," the words jumped out of my mouth.

"Don't thank me. I can take what I give. Do your job well," he smirked and walked away.

"Have you heard you do your job well?" he smiled mischievously.

I nodded, feeling there was something I didn't understand about what was going on between Kim and Winston.

The other day at the office, he covered his face with a mask.

Why was he hiding his face and revealing it now? I really don't get it.

"Hello, Arianna," Mr. Kim snapped his fingers, bringing me out of my trance.

"What are you thinking?"

"I'm not thinking anything," I replied curiously.

"What was my last statement?"

"I don't know. Apologies, sir," I said.

"Now, here are some questions to ask when the red carpet is on," he stylishly handed me the questions so no one could see them. I collected them stylishly and hid them in my purse.

"Good girl," he winked at me.

"You can just hang around. In the next thirty minutes, the red carpet will start."

“All right, thank you," I walked away, flinching my hair backward, and tried to find Brenda.

"Where are you, Brenda?" I whispered. I had no one to talk to at all.

It was ridiculous standing here all alone. I didn't know when I asked the servers for the toilet.

"Just go down," he said.

“All right," I nodded, going down so I could call Brenda to meet me at the toilet instead of mixing up places.

“All right then," I walked towards the direction, opened the door, and entered.

I went towards the dressing mirror, placed my purse, and applied my lip gloss when my phone rang.

"Hello, this is a secret investigator. I know the killer of your father," the voice said.

"How do you know the killer of my father?" I replied in shock.

"Find $150,000 and get an answer," he said and hung up the call.

"Hello... hello," I stammered and looked at myself in the mirror, feeling suffocated.

All my past started recalling in my head. I held my hands with my two heads.

“Or could this be a prank?” I soliloquized myself.

"Argh," I screamed, took a deep breath, and felt the pain strike my heart, the anger to avenge my father's killer.

I couldn't believe I had forgotten about it so easily.

"You will pay," I said to myself, a few tears flowed down from my eyes.

My phone rang, and I picked up the call. "Where are you? It's time."

"I'm coming, sir," I cut the call and fixed my mascara that was about to come down.

"It's red carpet time, and this is Arianna Fletcher. Today, I'm at the billionaires’ party in New York for an interview. I'm currently with..." I moved the microphone from my mouth to Winston's mouth.

"Winston Knight," he said with his deep voice.

"Hello, Winston Knight," I said with a broad smile. "I'm here today." I passed the mic to Wayne Knight.

"Wayne Knight," he replied.

"And here today, I'm with the Knight family," I said with excitement, facing the camera that was on us.

"I have some questions for you. Should I bring them on?" I said, increasing the tempo of my speech.

"Okay, today my question goes to both of you. When will you be revealing your fiancée?" I asked, passing the mic to Winston, who was close to me.

"Huh, ask him first," he smirked. I passed the mic to him.

"My fiancée remains a secret. She is watching us, and I love you, dear," he said with a bright smile, adjusting his collar.

"Wow, impressive," I faced the camera. "He loves you so much. Muah," I said, passing the mic to Winston.

"My dear fiancée is right here. She is not the shy type." A lady walked over as he kissed her hand. I looked up to see Brenda, but this time her face was a bit different.

"A woman has fainted," a loud noise came from the guests.
