BIRTHDAY WISH

Claire’s POV:

I close my eyes in front of my huge cake. “I wish…”

All of a sudden there was a huge crash and one of the guests screamed. My head quickly snaps towards the gut wrenching scream I hear.

Two of the guests were fighting and destroying everything in their path. Tables, chairs and crashing into other guests. I couldn’t make out who they were from where I was standing. Everyone was panicking, usually they would have shifted by now. To be honest I’m surprised they hadn’t already. Between the screams and violence i couldn’t think straight. What was I supposed to do?!

Everyone was watching as these men were tearing each other apart. A couple of the bouncers were trying to break them apart. It didn’t seem to be going very well. There were so many guests that we had invited that I didn’t know way more than half of them. I look at Selene to see if I could get any clue if she knew what was going on. She looked just as shocked as I was!

I didn’t have any clue to what was happening. The night had been perfect up until two males has to ruin everything. They destroyed the place. All the decorations or furniture, even the decorations that were set up. My birthday banner was completely destroyed. I had planned to keep it, I guess that idea was out the window. Why couldn’t I just get a relaxing night? Where I didn’t have to think about anything. My brother was safe, we were both away from our mother. With people who loved us. Why did this night have to be ruined?!

I was just standing there watching, hoping they would just stop and I could enjoy the night. This was my night for gods sake! I just wanted one night where everything was perfect. I just stood there watching them destroy my night.

Selena’s POV:

I was so excited to surprise Claire. I knew she thought that I wasn’t going to be there. I could see the disappointment on her face but I knew she understood why. Me and teddy watched as she got into the cab that I had arranged for her. I made sure to tip the driver extra to make sure I had an extra 30 minutes to beat her there…. I couldn’t wait to surprise her!

As we saw the last of the tail lights of the cab, I turned around toward my house with teddy in hand.

“You know what to do, right?” I asked teddy.

“Yes, the babysitter will be here about 10 minutes after you leave. If I get into any trouble, and I can’t get ahold of you or Claire, then there are several emergency numbers to call posted on the side of the fridge.” Replied teddy.

“But you’re sure you will be okay?” I say as we open the door to my bedroom.

“Yes, my mom used to leave me by myself all the time. Usually for days at a time. And without food. So yes, the 10 minutes you will be gone I will be okay.” He rolls his eyes at me, giving me a blank stare.

“Okay.” I reply not wanting to push the subject.

Teddy goes to watch tv as I rush to the bathroom, luckily I was already dressed. I just needed my make up and shoes. I’m glad that Claire didn’t find it suspicious that I was wearing a robe the whole night. Even tho it was almost 90° outside.

As I finish my makeup, I go to my closet for shoes. I wasn’t feeling 100% yet so I decided on flats. I get my shoes on, say goodbye to teddy and hand him his own cell phone.

“Is this for me!” He says with his eyes wide.

“Yes, it is all set up with all the numbers you will need. I wanted you to have your own phone so you could always contact me or your sister. My mom and dad’s phone numbers are in there also. You can always text me or call me if you need to, or your sister.” I replied sincerely.

“Th-th-thank you!” He finally spat out, giving me a giant hug.

“You’re my little bro now too Teddy, I love you just as much as Claire. I just wish I knew what was going on in that house. I would have came and got you a long time ago. I’m so sorry, Teddy.” I replied with teary eyes.

“It’s okay. Thank you so much for what you have done for me and my sister. You mean the world to us both. Now, go to the party! Before you start crying and have to spend more time on your makeup!” He replies.

“Ok, I will catch you later! Remember, if you need anything, call me.” I tell him giving him a huge hug and racing out the door.

I got to the party and luckily beat Claire here. I check my location tracker to see where she was. It said she would be here in two minutes. I tell everyone to be quiet and that Claire is almost here. I turn off all the lights and wait for her to enter.

The big doors open and everyone yells,

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!”
