Dancing

Selene’s POV:

It’s been over a week and I was going crazy! I can’t just sit here. It was Claire’s birthday party tomorrow evening and I had to go! After all, it’s been days since I felt dizzy or even took medication. I planned the whole sha-bang, it was my right! I was a wear wolf after all. We heal way faster than normal. I was a good girl, I stayed inside and rested. I let everyone doing everything for me and now it was time to get back to normal. Usually I loved it when I was being fussed and looked after. But after a while I got so fed up with it I was ready to burst!

I already had my outfit for Claire’s party, all I needed now was a release from the doctor so no one would get mad at me for showing up, or drinking!

I called a cab and waited for them. It wasn’t a long wait. Climbing in I asked to be taken to the pack hospital. Upon arriving there I saw a really nice car parked a-crossed the street from the entrance to the hospital. I liked the paint job and the older model vehicle. It was a classic! I silently reminded myself to check it out when I come back out. Otherwise I would be late for my appointment.

“You want me to what?” The Dr said, with a sigh.

“Please, just take me off rest mode, or whatever you would like to call it.” I replied with a puppy dog face.

“I’m sorry Selene, unless we get another MRI, I’m going to have to keep my recommendation of bed rest.”

“I’ll do it!” I shout gleefully.

“Ok, I’ll order it.” He said, shaking his head.

“I’m all cured and better!” I shout while coming into my house. Mom and dad were in the living room. They were just staring at me with their eyes big and their mouths slightly parted open. “Did you hear me??” I said looking from one to the other.

“What makes you say that, sweetie?” Relied mom.

“I went to see the doctor and he said I was all good. He took another MRI and released me from his bed rest advice.”

“Okay.” I heard my father say.

“ Looks like I’m going to Claire’s party tomorrow night! No one tell her tho! I want it to be the BIG surprise!” I yell over my shoulder as I rush up the stairs.

Claire’s POV:

I’ve been staying home more often lately. I hated being here. I would rather be at Selene’s. But I was worried I was getting in the way of her recovery so I decided to come home for a while. I hated being around my mom. She was either drinking or using. And I didn’t want to be around for any of it. I just felt so bad for my little brother. Once I had my own job and my own place I would come back for him. Luckily he was old enough to be able to take care of his basic needs. And I always made sure to stock up on everything he would need for a while. I never gave him money tho. I learned that lesson. My mom would convince him to let her have it and then he would be without food and stuff until me and Selene came back. One time I came here and he hadn’t had food for days. I asked him why he didn’t call me and he said that he didn’t want to bother me. It broke my heart to hear that. Plus our mom never paid the bill. Now I made sure he always had a phone. Even Selene treats him like her brother. So he gets spoiled from us both! My phone started to buzz and I pick it up.

“Hey girl! Where have you been?!”

“Just hanging with our little brother, what have you been up to??”

“Not a lot, I’m so sorry I won’t be able to make it to your party tomorrow, I planned it extra special for you though! So I really hope you enjoy yourself!”

“I won’t have half as much fun as I would if you were there, but I promise to try! Thank you Selene! I love you.”

“I love you too, Claire! Shake it on the dance floor for me!”

“You bet!”

Then we both hung up. I really missed her! But I totally understand why she won’t be there. I’m glad she’s taking the doctor seriously. I wouldn’t want to scold her again. It embarrasses me and makes me feel bad. I’m sure she doesn’t like it either. I’ll miss her tomorrow but at least she’s home safe. I lay down for the night and think about my party. Selene knows everything I like and her parents said no budget limit. She’s had over a week of keeping herself busy with planning it but not telling me one little detail about it. So I’m very excited to see what she did tomorrow. I fell asleep imagining how my party is going to turn out. It’s going to be wonderful!
