At the Combined College of Magic and Science, CCMR, teens gifted with magic create a large body of students where they learn and grow out of childhood. It's there that Revel Ester arrives, an orphan and predominantly lonely up until now in his life. However, CCMR is a very bright place, full of kind teachers, friendly classmates, and new subjects to learn. In this environment, Revel comes to get new friends as well as a new routine of school he never knew, and can't help but enjoy a great deal. But with adversaries within and outside the walls of CCMR, Revel's got his plate full of trying to navigate a path of saving his new life, and school as some events escalate, and he even has to protect a lover he never had until now, Leonard. With a twist of magic and a turn every few steps, this teen story couldn't be anymore exciting.

Chapter 1

I could really do that better, thinking back now. I talked with the person letting people in, and maybe I could smile more and also just try to show more confidence in what I did. I mean, it's not that I lack it. I've got plenty of pride and I could paint myself like a field of violets with no leaves. Blooms only. Laughing at the thought in my head, I walk around the stone halls with other new students, looking between the building, the paper map in one hand, and the other paper I have denoting my class and teacher that runs that class. I can also see my name printed out, and reading it has me calming myself through some self-absorbed mantra. Revel Ester It's not what most people have as a name, and sometimes when I need to feel better with myself I try to revel as my name indicates. It's true that I can be fun, but mostly I'm a quiet guy who you barely notice most of the time. Not that I mind. Being as shy as wild animals, I'm not one to be found in large groups. It's not any

Chapter 2

"Oh, shoot!" says Mr. Reap from the front, "We've gotta go to the assembly. Everyone, we're going to the the main hall. It's on your maps." The twenty-whatever teens in the class get up and grab their bags while filing out to go to this assembly in question. Thinking back now it might be thirty, as Mr. Reap said, but I don't have the best memory. I keep close to both Hala and the twins. I didn't realize it, but I thought Hala was petite, but she's actually a pretty tall girl. She easily could put her arm on my shoulder and lean. I'm two inches shorter than her, while the twins are about the same height as Hala. What I do notice though is that Sylvester has shorter cut hair in the back while Lucius has his bangs styled like spikes that fall over his brow softly. I think I'm starting to figure out what's different between the two of them, but I'm having some trouble still. They both have radiant grins, tanned skin, laughter like sunshine, and worst of all, they talk the same w

Chapter 3

Walking into the second class today, I look around to see if anybody here is somebody I recognize. I do, spotting Hala and Syl near the windows in this class. They wave to me, and I walk over to them with a smile. "Hey, Revy!" says Syl as he grins, "Happy to see ya!" "Me too," I say, "what classes did you guys have?" "Calculus," they both answer together. "I had algebra 2," I say. "Hey, math is hard, whatever name it has," says Hala. "True," I say with a nod. "Ooh! Butter!" shouts Syl a little loudly as a boy with black hair with lavender tips walks in, "C'mere!" The boy in question, Butter, glances over, grimaces slightly, but then does come over. "Hello, Sylvester," says Butter calmly, and I notice that he has black gloves on his hands. "I didn't see you for a while," says Syl with a grin, "what class are you in?" "62-B," answers Butter. "Oh, this is Machiv Butter," introduces Syl, "he's from the same town as me, and we're from the same school too." "Hell

Chapter 4

"What club are you interested in in?" asks Lu to me as we stand in front of a billboard with posters advertising clubs for everyone to join. "I'm not sure," I say, "I used to play tennis, though I'm not sure I want to continue." Well, tennis might be a half-lie. It was more of racquetball. Back at the orphanage nobody ever was around that much, so I just hit a ball against a wall to practice, and then came in second for my district. I one time did a little match in the general district, and I did get second place. I never figured out where the silver medal I got went, but I still remember that I did get that place. It might not be much, but I'm exceptionally proud of that achievement in my life until now. "I'm thinking basketball," says Lu, "Syl and I have been doing it since grade school, and together we usually have great teamwork." "Aside from when you two fight?" asks Tula with a grin. "Yeah, aside from then," answers Lu. "I mean, you're the one who starts them,"

Chapter 5

Outside, there's rain coming down and it creates a grey sky, but leaves the trees and foliage below to remain green and healthy. The building of CCMS is a little grey by nature, a light grey, but today it's very dark. Glancing outside has me wonder if the rain will stop today, since it's been continuous for a few days now. Being in the second week since my new school life started, I've gotten mostly settled in here. Going around with my usual group, Hala, Syl, Lu, Thames, Morgan, Tula, Machiv, and Keito, quite a number of friends I surprisingly have, it's a fun environment that I have, since it works together with all that I'm learning. It's right now during history, and even though I'm adequately interested in it, my thoughts do spiral around to wonder about that day. I tried looking through the library on Sunday, since Saturday I went out with everyone to town for the first time and enjoyed the day there, for anything about the the pool and magic related to it. I'm not overtly

Chapter 6

Looking through the textbook while class is still happening, I try to find anything about pools of magic water. But nothing really sticks. There's nothing in here, and I guess for now that mystery is going to have to settle itself. Though, for now, I'm still looking and not finding anything. The rest of the class continues to listen as good to Mrs. Loop continues the lecture on in the background. Not that she's background noise since I'd never demote her to that, since she really is a phenomenal teacher and is really good at helping us learn without being condescending or depreciative. "So, innate magic itself is simply imbued magic that can be active or passive. When the innate magic is active, that's when we consider it cursed, and in turn it could be something called a relic. We'll discuss relics in a later section. The secont type, the passive magic, is magic that only reacts to other things. "Now," says Mrs. Loop with a grin, "most people would call it reactive magic, but

Chapter 7

Walking down again into the mausoleum, the dark hallway that's not at all dangerous swallows me up again as I pass through it. It's like that dark magic that Machiv was talking about. Not necessarily dangerous, just the perception of it, I suppose. I've been somewhat scared of the dark since I was young, but gradually have come to learn through my life that it's nothing dangerous about it. Dark Magic might imply that too in it's basic concept. It's not the dark itself. It's what the dark is used by, what inhabits it, that could possibly be sinister. It's not the deep shadows themselves that want that, maybe never could want it to begin with. With me is Machiv, Hala, and Lu who I managed to convince to come here. I mentioned the mausoleum after we finished classes, and having some time before our afternoon classes started, I suggested it. They first were a little apprehensive, mostly Lu saying that, I think because he didn't want to do anything dangerous. He loves fun, but danger

Chapter 8

Glancing at my phone, I smile as the last message Leonard sent me is read by my eyes again, and I walk into my majestic theory class where Hala and Syl are already present. Glancing around has me spot Leonard, and he waves to me, surrounded by his friends in this class, and I wave back, heading over to my usual seat which is not with him, but there's not that much time to chat anyways. Though, I nod to him and I think he knows why I'm not going over now, and nods back with a smile. I promise to talk in-person with him later. I'm not complaining about the little text messages he sends me and causes me to be pink all over, but talking face-to-face has its own nice allure. "Hey," I say as I approach Hala and Syl. "Hi, Revel!" says Hala, smiling and her pearls on her ears glistening as she turns her head, "I thought you'd never arrive." "Well, now I'm here," I say with a laugh. "History just as interesting as usual?" asks Syl to me, and I nod while taking a seat. "You could sa

Chapter 9

Looking over my shoulder, I look around to see of Leonard is around, since I did text him earlier that I wanted to know if he could go into town on Sunday, since I would be. I haven't exactly told anybody about my relationship, I think my fluttering heart wants to call it that, to anyone in my gang. Though, since Hala and Machiv have already gathered what seems to be the crucial mechanisms of it I might not have to tell them if they decide to. Well, maybe they're not ones to share that kind of information. I know Hala is talkative, but she doesn't strike me as a person who can't keep a secret. Machiv also is not the type of person to just blabber silly banter. He's got discretion, while Hala's got consideration. I can trust that much in them. It's just at the end of classes, and the hallways where I am right now are crowded with teens and teachers who go about, with the occasional shouting over the talkative teens not an uncommon sight. It's is quite noisy, and it's something peop

Chapter 10

"You sure that Leonard is going to show up?" asks Syl, having learned the name of what I introduced as a new friend I made. "Yeah," I say with a nod, "that's what I've been informed about." "Hope he comes soon," says Syl, glancing at his phone, "the bus will be here soon and he'll be late to go into town." "I think he'll make it," I say. "Yeah," says Machiv, the in-between method that introduced Leonard to me, "I know Leonard. He'll be here." "You know this guy?" asks Lu, who's also here with us today along with Thames, Tula, Hala, Morgan, and Keito. "Yeah," says Machiv, "met him the first day I got here." "How?" asks Morgan curiously. "He's across the hall from Keito and I in the dorms," explains Machiv nonchalantly. "Oh. Makes sense." Syl looks at Machiv with some pouting, but Machiv glances it off and goes back to reading. Standing at the bus stop outside of CCMS, we all wait for the bus we took before to pick us up and take us into town. Not many other teens
