Mira's Hangover

"Aaaah...shit, I should never go for a drink again". I'm going to be late today. And being a personal secretary doesn't help it in any way. Nick is going to enjoy making me suffer today. He just waits everyday to annoy and torture me.!!

Getting out of the bed, Mira ran to have a quick shower and picked up the first dress that her hands could find and stormed out of the house after locking it. She looked at her watch and sighed, as expected I don't have time to eat. Thinking that, she went to the diner in her complex and grabbed a sandwich and a coffee and looked for a Uber to set off for work.

Mira is always someone who would think twice before spending a single cent. As she thought of how much she is going to spend on the Uber now, her heart ached. She wished she could make Nick pay for her taxi bills. Alas, it is good enough if he just paid her salary without cuts and so, she made a resolution to  not wake up late ever again. After a 30min long journey, she finally reached the Asher group. The building stood tall before her,it is one of the tallest buildings within the business hub of Greenwood city. It is a glass building with a total of 69 floors. The top floor of the building is where their CEO, Nick Asher lived. It is his penthouse which he has specifically designed on his own. It had 2 floors on the ground floor only had living room and kitchen and his master bedroom and another guest room on the top floor. It had a glass roof swimming pool and a deck to give him the view of the city. It is a previllage to even enter the floor, only his assistant, Ryan had seen his penthouse until now. Mira heard the rumors in the office that Nick designed his penthouse, and she was always curious of how it looked inside. 

It is only a dream to enter this company as an employee, I shouldn't think of things that are out of reach and she took a deep breath to bring herself back to world, she entered the building and rushed to the sixtieth floor where CEO's office is located.

She made a quick stop at the CEO's exclusive pantry, located on the sixtieth floor. All the floors above sixtieth floor are exclusive for the distinguised guests and friends and family of Nick. There are exclusive lifts from the underground parking to those floors. And even the parking levels for the employees and residents are different. She quickly sprinted through the pantry to grab a mug of coffee for Nick. She hoped the coffee would help appease Nick as she clocked in late today. As she enters the office after a gentle knock on his office door, Nick looks up at her with a slight frown on his handsome face. "You are late again, Mira. Tell me how do you want me to punish you today?" Nick asks with a devilish smirk.

Shoot...looking at Nick's face, a strange chill went down my spine. This man is the CEO of the most prestigious company in Greenwood and he is devilishly handsome. He is named the most eligible bachelor and most desirable husband of Greenwood in multiple surveys, but whenever I see him like this it makes me skip a beat. He is too scary for me to appreciate the other aspects of him at times like this and today, I just came 1 minute late. So damn ONE Minute and he has to be so petty as if it is all my fault.

***Yesterday***

Just when Mira was about to get off for the day, Nick called her to his office. "Mira, you are my personal secretary and your job profile states that you need to be in office as long as I'm in and you need to get my permission before you can log off for the day. Did you forget your responsibilities even after working for a whole year with me?".

Hearing this Mira faced Nick and put on smile that didn't reach her eyes. She tried to look as obidient as possible and said, " Mr.Asher, Can I please get off for the day?" Nick smirked, "No, you are not allowed. I have a social gathering today and you are coming with me." 

Mira's eyes widened in shock. So this is all the shit about. He needs a partner and can't even ask nicely. He had to threaten me to make me do it. Aaaah, this guy!!!

"But Sir, today is friday and I've made plans with my family". I actually wanted to have a lazy friday night cozying in the warmth of my home and watching my favorite shows. Eating home cooked food and chilling a night is the most blissful thing for me. But I can't say that to him on his face, can I? I just hopes he lets me off today. While Mira was in a daze dreaming of what she wants to do for the night, she was pulled back to reality by a very calm and seductive voice.

"Do you want to spend some time with me over the weekend?" Just one sentence and she jolted out of her daze. Once, she was back to earth, only then did she realize that Nick was standing so close to her that their lips were almost touching. Thinking about his ambiguous words and flirtatious acts, Mira was flustered and hurriedly replied, "No, No..I mean yes, I'll reschedule my plans for a later date and will accompany you to the gathering today, Mr.Asher". Uff..what am I even talking. It is soo embarassing. I'm so flustered that I'm sure my face is now all scarlet red. That devil would be enjoying himself looking at my embarassment. How I wish I could beat him up, but he is unfortunately my payer. She just facepalmed herself in her mind.

"Good, then get the chauffeur ready. We'll go down in 10".

"Yes, Mr.Asher"

With that Mira slid along the wall to get away from Nick and ran out of the room. Once she is out, she turned back again and patted her chest and finally released the breath that she didn't know she was holding. 

Seeing her running away from him, Nick couldn't help by feel amused. Thinking of her flustered appearance, he felt like he wanted to tease her more. She brings out the playful side of him, which he thought he lost years ago. There is something about Mira that puts a smile on his face that even Nick doesn't know himself. He always thought she would act stupid sometimes when she is around him. She is very serious about her work. She can be quite professional. She is not like other girls who look for a chance to flirt with him, but she would act stupid and give him an impression that she actually wants to run away from him. Nonetheless, she is very attractive in her own way and that is what made him recruit her in the first place. 

She had the right attitude towards work and she knows she can't flirt with him as it would cost her job, so she is always well behaved and within her limits. And that is what he appreciates about her. 

Nick didn't even know that he was subconsciously thinking so much about her until he heard a knock on his office.

Meanwhile, Mira got back to her desk and called the chauffeur to be ready at the CEO's parking as Nick had mentioned. Then she took her time to sort everything and finally checked time. When she was sure that it was almost 10minutes, she took a deep breath and went back to Nick's office and gently knocked on the door. 

Nick checked the time on his watch and realized that it was time for them to start from office as they still need to get ready for the dinner. Mira waited silently at the door looking at her nails, waiting for Nick to pass his orders. A part of her was still hoping she would be annoyed at her intrusion and roar at her to get out of his sight, so that she could go back to her home and live her night in her peace. But the logical side of her brain knew it very well that it was not going to happen anytime soon. So she dared not make a sound and waited at the door. 

Once Nick sorted everything at hand, he walked slowly to the door and opened the door. He saw Mira standing at the door waiting for him. Without saying anything he directly walked forward and got to his lift, while Mira ran after him in her heels to catch up with him.
