Nightmares

After a dreadful and sleepless night, Nick finally reaches his office and tries to concentrate on his work. But his mind keeps going back to the beautiful eyes from his dreams. He doesn't remember the appearance of the girl.

He tries to concentrate his memories to remember the girl or the other events or how they were rescued. But luck is just not on his side yet. After thinking about Mimi for so long, his head starts to hurt and he simply closes his eyes to tune out from the world. 

Suddenly, he hears a slight noise causing him to frown his eyebrows. Mira walks into the office with a delicious cup of coffee and was about to greet Nick. She realises that something is not right with Nick.

Her usually workaholic and emotionless boss is now sitting in his office chair with furrowed brows with his eyes closed. Something is bothering him. She walks near his chair and while she is still trying to comtemplate whether to wake him up or not, Nick suddenly holds her hand.

"Don't leave me again", he says with a pained voice while pulling her into his embrace. Mira is too shocked to respond that she almost forgets how to breathe. Finally regaining her senses, she pats him gently and calls to him.

"Mr. Asher, please get up and have some hot coffee. It will calm your nerves". Listening to her soothing voice, Nick finally comes back to the mortal world while still holding Mira tightly to his chest. Seeing that he is back to normal, Mira finally lets out a sigh and walks out of his embrace and brings the coffee she prepared to Nick. "Mr.Asher, have some coffee. You have an all department meeting scheduled this morning. It will start in 20 minutes. I'll go ahead and make the arrangements." 

As Mira continues to speak, Nick silently takes his coffee from her and stares at Mira emotionlessly. Looking at her cute little face, he couldn't help but think about Mimi again. Realizing that he is being non-sensical he dismisses Mira with a wave of his hand without any words.

As Mira walks out of his office and closes the door behind her, he couldn't help but pat her cheeks to bring her back to normal. She is totally at a loss not sure what happened to Nick that he hugged her so suddenly and became indifferent as soon as he woke up. 

Looks like he is also a normal human. Seeing his emotionless face everyday I had doubts if he were a humanoid. But next time I think I should probably make a loud noise to wake him up instead of being gentle. I can't let him hug me like this.

He nearly scared the shit out of me other day when he came so close to him that I felt he almost kissed me. And today he hugged me. I should make sure there is no next time. 

Meanwhile, Nick's office.

Why is Mira sitting on me? And why doesn't it look like I was the one who actually took the initiative while she seemed to struggle to get away from me." Aaaah..." and why is Mira so beautiful when she blushes. Why do I feel like her eyes are talking to me. Speaking of those eyes, they are so beautiful and of the same color as my Mimi."My Mimi" thinking of this a small smile crept on to his face. He brushed it off immediately and went ahead with his meetings for the day.

That evening, he got a call from his friend Jacob Stanley. "Hey man, let's go for drinks tonight" Jacob said loudly on the phone.

"Jacob, you might as well talk directly to me" Nick said with irritation. 

"Bro, come on. If I were as boring as you, do you think we could still be friends. Now, stop with your drama and let's meet at our usual place and .." Nick couldn't be bothered with his banter and simply hung up the call.

This guy never learns to grow up. 

With that, he called in Mira and told her to clear his calendar for the evening as he didn't want to be disturbed.

By the time Nick finished his work it was half past six in the night. He grabbed his coat and strode to Vintage club. It is considered the best in Greenwood and is owned by James Carter, who happens to be a buddy of Nick. He went directly to their usual private room.  James and Jacob had already started drinking by then and were chatting happily when the door to the private room was suddenly opened.

"What made our gracious king to bless us with his presence today?" chuckled James looking at Nick's gloomy face. Nick ignored him and poured himself a drink and started sipping on it slowly. 

"He looks like he just got dumped by someone. Let's celebrate being single bro" said Jacob trying to ease the room. 

"You want to celebrate being single, Jacob. Like seriously??Last time I checked you were going on a date with your girlfriend and that was not even a week." 

"Hey that was almost a week ago. And I didn't go out for the past few days. By the way that day the one you saw was a model and she accompained me for a dinner." 

and so James and Jacob continued their argument. Nick tried very hard but all he could think was those hazel eyes and at one point he was not even sure if he is thinking of Mimi or Mira.

Vexed with his thoughts, Nick quickly gulped his drink and put the glass on the table with a loud thud silencing the two handsome idiots in the room.

"I want to find Mimi"

"Are you still getting those nightmares, Nick?" Jacob asked with concern etched on his face.

Nick :"mm.."

James: " I know the best way to get rid of them. Pick a girl and date her"

Nick: " I would expect something like this from Jacob. But hearing from you is...."

Jacob: " Hey do you guys think I'm so unreliable. I know how serious you are with relationships, Nick. And if it was any other day, I would have told you to try it with Stella. You know how she feels about you. But I also know that you treat her only as a sister, so I won't force you."

"But tell me why, you suddenly decided to look for Mimi?"

Nick: " The nightmares won't go away. I don't want to live in the past anymore."

Jacob: "Fine Bro, we'll help you. You know right, we'll always have your back. Do whatever you want to do and let us know if you need help."

James: " Bro, but don't you think it is quite difficult to find a girl from more that 20years ago just by the color of her eyes?"

"I have to find her. There is no choice." With that he left the club and went home.

Somewhere unknown...

"Boss, we have prepared everything that you asked for. Are you planning to go back there?" his assistant asked him shaking.

"Yes, I want to go back. But I think we still have a bit more time to show up there." 

The assistant nodded his head understandingly. 

"Also, keep our people alert in the company and make sure they are not suspected of anything."

"Yes, boss" with that the assistant took his leave to make a phone call to alert their confidants.
